She stared at me like she's seen a ghost. "You... You... You..." She stuttered vigorously
I stood up from the couch and went to sit beside her. She moved away and I chuckled. "Come on, I won't bite". I moved closer to her and held her hand. "I meant every word I say, Nora. I do love you"
She batted her lashes. I know right now, she's finding it difficult to believe every word I said. Well, I did not mean any of it from my heart. I don't love her. It was just to make her believe me and trust me. Kelvin thinks she likes me and making her believe I like her too, will make me gain her trust. I needed to act as real as possible. Thank goodness I feel comfortable staying close to her. She pulled her hand away from mine and stood up. "You think you can play with my heart right?" She yelled.
I rolled my eyes. I expected her to act like this but I will try as much as I can to make her believe me. I stood up and walked toward her. "I know it sounds awkward. I also do not know how I fell in love with you"
She hissed. "Leave". I rolled my eyes. "Don't make me repeat myself. Leave and don't let me set my eyes on you again!!". Is she serious right now? I sighed and left the room. On getting to my room, I quickly put a call through to Kelvin to give him the update.

I rolled my eyes. "I told you it won't work"
He chuckled. "Who told you that?"
"She just pushed me out of her room"
He laughed. "Were you expecting her to hug you? Of course, she can't accept you yet. You have to work for her trust"
I hissed. "I don't think it's necessary. Let me face Jasper myself"
"She's the perfect bait, Lucian. If you want Jasper to pay. You have to use her"
I rolled my eyes. Kelvin thinks Jasper is in love with Nora. "Kelvin, Jasper doesn't love..." The knocking on the door made me stop talking. "Who is that?" I asked. Although I have a feeling it's Nora.
"Nora. Can I come in?"
I rolled my eyes. What does she want? I thought she said she doesn't want to see me. "You should hear her out. I will call you back" Kelvin said and ended the call. I sighed and dropped the phone on the table. I stood up to open the door for her. Surprisingly, she shoved me aside and entered. I rolled my eyes. What..."
"You want me to marry you right?" She said. I stared at her. Why is she bringing up the marriage matter now? She turned to face me. "Isn't that what you want?"
I sighed. I don't know what she wants but I will play along. "Yes"
She nodded. "I will marry you"
I rolled my eyes. "You will?"
"Yes. But on one condition. It's going to be on a contract, for a year. A year only"
I batted my lashes. That's exactly what I wanted. A contract marriage. Though I wanted it to last for six months. I would have carried out all my plans within that period. "Why do you want a contract marriage?"
She hissed. "Look, you don't have to pretend. I know you don't love me. You just want to use me to get to Jasper..."
I widened my eyes in shock. Is she serious right now? How did she find out? Or is she just using her insight? "Use you to get to Jasper. I don't want to do that"
She scoffed. "I know you too well, Lucian. You don't fall in love. You can't fall in love. Everything you're doing is just to get back at Jasper. I'm willing to help you, only if you are willing to be truthful to me"
I groaned. Trust her? hell no!!. "I don't know what you're talking about, Nora. I might have grudges with Jasper. But that won't make me use you as bait as you said"
"I never said bait. You seem to know the right word to use"
I sighed. I think I know what she's trying to do. She wants to get words out of my mouth but I won't let her. "Nora, I know you don't love me but that doesn't mean you should try to...". My phone rang. I stopped talking and checked who was calling. It was Mira. I groaned. Bad timing but I have to pick up her call anyway. If I don't she won't stop calling. "Sorry, I have to pick up this call"
"Whatever" she murmured
I sighed and picked up the call. "Hey bro. Is it true you propose to Nora? Dad is so happy!!" Mira shrieked happily
I rolled my eyes. "I can't hear you, Mira. I think I should call you back"
"Brother, I can hear you"
"I can't..." Nora walked up to me and took the phone. I batted my lashes. Is she for real? "Hi, Mira?"
I rolled my eyes. I couldn't hear what Mira was saying but the smile on Nora's face showed she was enjoying every bit of their conversation. I groaned. Hope they ain't planning against me. She finally dropped the phone on the table and walked out. I blinked my eyes. What?. Did she just leave without telling me what they had discussed? I lay on the bed and sighed. With Mira in the picture, I might not be able to carry out my plans.
