...The next morning...
I went to Maco with Melanie as planned.
"Kyle." Maco said. "What a surprise. What are you doing here?" Maco asked.
"I came to give you back Melanie. But of of course, in exchange for Delanie.
"I knew you would come around." Maco said.
Maco snapped his fingers and a cage appeared with Delanie in it.
"Kyle? Melanie?!" Delanie exclaimed.
"What are you two... What the hell are you doing here and with Melanie?!" Delanie screamed.
"I came here to make an exchange. Denver will have to think of another way to save her that doesn't involve you or I." I said to Delanie.
"What do you mean?" Delanie asked.
"I'm leaving. I'm going away and I am taking you with me. Let the both of them handle their own problems on their own. None of this is any of my concern anymore. I may not be the one sitting on that throne next but as long as Denver won't be there either then I am fine." I said to Delanie.
"Enough of that! Give me the girl!" Maco said, impatiently.
"Yes but you have to hand over Delanie first." I said to Maco.
"I am not going anywhere with you! Take my sister to safety Kyle! How could you do this to me?!" Delanie shouted from within the cage.
"Melanie! Melanie!" Delanie shouted.
"Don't waste your breath. She can't hear you." I told Delanie then turned my attention fully to Maco.
"Are we doing this or not?" I asked him.
Maco and I looked at each other eyeball to eyeball.
"Fine then. If it is an exchange you want then that is what you will get." Maco said and ordered a demon to get Delanie out of the cage.
The demon did as instructed and made sure to hold firmly unto Delanie who would not stop kicking and trying to shake herself off. Why can't this girl just stay put so this can all be over soon?
"Well?" I asked Maco.
"Well you have to give me Melanie first then I give you Delanie. You think I trust you enough to keep your end of the bargain?" Maco said.
"At this point, I should be the one saying that." I replied.
"We will do a switch." I suggested.
"Okay. You heard what he said didn't you?" Maco asked the demon holding Delanie.
The demon nodded.
"On the count of two." I said and started to count.
"1...2!"
I threw Melanie into the hands of the demon holding Delanie's hands behind her back. Melanie had dodged and having Melanie to catch, the demon let of of Delanie.
I drew Delanie to myself with my powers and vanished with her. Any more time wasted and I knew Maco would cheat his way out.
"What have you done?!" What is wrong with you? You are a big fat idiot! Why would you give them Melanie. I went through a lot to save her and you just gave her up that easily!" Delanie screamed as she pounded away on my chest.
"Wait and listen to me first." I said to her.
"No! I won't listen to whatever shit you have to say!" Delanie shouted.
I held on to her hands and she started to cry it out. She placed her head on my chest in silence and i felt her hands weaken.
"Are you done yet?" I asked.
Delanie yanked her hands away and looked at me in anger. "How dare you speak that way to me?!" Delanie said.
"It's fine sis. Everything is okay. Don't murder him." Melanie's voice sounded.
Melanie was standing right behind Delanie. Delanie turned around and saw her sister smiling back at her then she rushed in for a hug.
"Melanie." Delanie cried.
"I thought i lost you." Delanie added.
"You will never loose me." Melanie said.
They parted from the hug and Delanie wiped her tears.
"But back there... I saw Kyle give you to..." Delanie said.
"Yes. That's what happened.
"Then how come you are..." Delanie said, with a confused look on her face.
"That is because I was that demon." Denver said as he appeared out of thin air.
"Jeez! You plan on giving me a heart attack too?" Delanie asked Denver, clutching her chest. She wasn't expecting that sudden appearance at all.
"My bad." Denver said.
"So... we are all here and no one is in danger?" Delanie asked.
"Yes." Melanie answered. "You have Kyle to thank for it. All that was his idea." Denver added.
Delanie walked up to me then after some seconds of looking at me she gave me a thunderous slap that I couldn't have seen coming.
"That was for the hypertension you almost gave me." she said to me.
Before I could even reply, she put her arms around my neck and kissed me.
My eyes were wide with surprise at the end of it and I turned mute. Not a single word could come out of my mouth.
I only returned to my senses when I noticed Melanie and Denver giving me awkward looks.
"Thank you Kyle... For everything." Delanie said, a bit shyly. I didn't know what to say and just disappeared out of the cottage and reappeared at a distance.
I shouted my lungs out with great joy. At a point I was even scared that they must have heard me in the cottage. I've never been this happy in my entire life time. And to think I was worried about us.
I won't let you down Delanie! Woo Hoo! Yes! Yes! Yes!
I calmed myself then returned to the cottage with a straight face. All three of them were discussing something and kept quiet when I arrived.
"What is it?" I asked them.
Delanie stepped forward.
"Sorry I did that." Delanie said.
"Sorry for doing what exactly?:" I asked her.
"You know what I mean. Don't make it any more difficult for me." Delanie said.
"Is this about the kiss?" I asked her.
"Yes." she answered, averting her eyes.
"You disappeared. You didn't even say a word. So..."
I kissed Delanie smack on the lips before she could finish speaking and she looked surprised.
"I don't get it... I thought you didn't like the kiss or even me." Delanie said and I leaned towards her ear and whispered.
"I love you."
Delanie hugged me and I hugged her back.
"A twin for each brother isn't it?" I asked Denver and he put his hand over Melanie's shoulders.
"I just hope I don't end up kissing the wrong twin one day." Denver said to me and Melanie hit his side with her elbow.
"It was just a joke." Denver said.
"This would have made a happy beginning of a new life for all of us but unfortunately we still have to return Denver to his rightful position as king. For that to happen Maco needs to go." I said.
"And I won't stop till I have my way." Denver added.
