#69
(DENVER POV):
What is it that Helen meant? It could only be a life or death situation. I know that for sure. I shook back into my senses when I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Relax. It's just me." Kyle said. He sat beside me on the bed. Melanie and Delanie were outside.
"Still thinking abut Helen's words aren't you?" Kyle asked me and I nodded.
"Unfortunately I still am." I said to Kyle.
"Well... You are not the only one." Kyle said and there was a moment of silence between us.
"Do you think we can actually defeat Maco on our own? I mean, just the both of us." Kyle asked me.
"Of course we can. I am very sure of it. We already made a plan didn't we? But..." I said and paused.
"Judging by what Helen said to us, I don't think the girls should be a part of that plan anymore." I added.
"Honestly speaking, neither do I." Kyle said.
"What are we going to do now?" I asked Kyle.
"One thing is for sure. We definetely cannot tell them that we are excluding them from the plan which they were to play very vital roles in." Kyle said.
"We have to go tonight to face off with Maco while the girls are asleep." I said andd Kyle agreed.
...Later that night...
Delanie and Melanie finally fell asleep and we tucked them in before leaving.
I and Kyle got ourselves captured on purpose and Maco's minions took us straight to him. We faked having to struggle in vain to release ourselves from his minions' clutches. Maco came before us eating grapes.
"Well well well. If it isn't the two failures." Maco said and sat on my throne.
"Did you both run out of places to hide?" Maco asked.
"Just be glad your slaves actually did something right for once." Kyle replied Maco.
Maco spat out the grapes and it flew straight to Kyle's face.
"Don't speak like that to your new king." Maco said to Kyle.
Maco then turned his attention to me. "Why are you so silent Denver?" Maco asked me.
"What am I supposed to say? Remind you that you are nothing but a bench warmer and I will be set upon my throne once again? Face it. All this is just a waste of time. I'll be back in my rightful position before you know what hit you." I said to Maco.
Maco punched me straight in the face.
"By the way, I am curious. Why are you two still in your human form till this moment? Gotten so used to their lifestyle haven't you?" Maco asked but we didn't answer.
"How are your human lovers doing?" Maco asked.
We still didn't say anything and Maco was starting to get impatient but then we noticed that his face calmed. Maco smiled at both I and Kyle and we exchanged looks with each other.
Maco looked someother direction and we looked that way too.
Damn it!
"As the saying goes, Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Or was that right?" Maco said.
"Let them go!" I shouted.
"If you touch a hair on their heads I swear I'll..." Kyle was saying.
"You will what?!" Maco interrupted Kyle.
Maco walked up to Delanie and Melanie who were held by two other demons. He stood between the girls and held a strand of hair from each one's head then pulled it off.
Melanie and Delanie screamed in pain.
"I just yanked it out of their heads. Tell me, what will you do now?" Maco asked Kyle but Kyle just bowed his head in defeat.
"I thought so." Maco said and returned to sitting on the throne.
"Take them to the dungeons." Maco ordered and we were all taken away.
After we were all pushed in and the last demon left I turned in anger to the girls.
"What the hell are you two doing here?!" I shouted.
"I don't understand what you mean." Delanie said.
"Are we not supposed to be here with you two?" Melanie asked, frowning.
"No! None of you were supposed to be here!" Kyle yelled. He was also angry that the girls were also here.
"We know. We overheard you two planning to exclude us from the plan so we decided to include ourselves again." Delanie said.
"How did you two even get here?" I asked them.
"Same way you two did. We actually followed from behind you know." Melanie answered.
"None of you are supposed to be here." Kyle said.
"Yes, and I will take them out of this place myself." I added then grabbed both of their hands and was about to disappear when I heard Kyle's voice.
"No!" Kyle shouted, but it was too late. I tried to take them back but felt shocks all over my body.
I ended up going nowhere and was on the floor trying to regain my strength.
"What was that?" I asked in pain.
"I tried to warn you. I and Maco had actually created this dungeon ourselves. Anyone who goes in can never come out unless freed from the outside with the keys. Also, our powers won't work as long as we are in here." Kyle said.
"And you didn't think to mention that sooner?" I said to him as Melanie helped me up.
"It's not like i could read minds from here and know your next move." Kyle said to me.
"So what now?" I asked.
"We wait." Kyle said.
"Wait?" Delanie repeated.
"Unless you've got a better idea, yes. Yes we wait." Kyle replied Delanie.
We all sat at corners of the dungeon.
"I'm sorry we followed you two but we just couldn't let you two go through with it alone." Melanie apologized.
"We know that we are putting ourselves in harm's way but we are totally okay with it. We know we will be fine." Delanie added.
"That's fine but we really don't want you two to be here. You both heard Helen's words. Things may not turn out as we plan it to." I said to Delanie and Melanie.
