"So this was one of your foolish trickery." I said to Helen, angrily.
"What has happened has happened. How does it matter now? It's too late to go back now." Helen said and laughed.
I tightened my fist, trying to control my anger.
"You can't possibly go through with this. She got involved. She tricked Melanie into it so she could have her way." Kyle said to me.
"I know all that but my word is my word and I can't go back on it. I have to do this." I said to Kyle and picked up the crystal.
Melanie held me back. No! I won't let you go! I should be the one in your place right now. This is all my fault and I should be the one in your place right now." Melanie cried as she kept her grip on me from behind.
I turned and hugged her for what I knew was the last time. "I'm sorry I can't stay." I said to her then pulled away from the hug. Delanie held Melanie close to herself and I took the crystal ball towards Helen and stopped right in front of her.
"So tell me... What is the truth?" I asked Helen.
"The truth?" Helen asked and laughed.
"The truth is that you and your brother Kyle can never have any romantic relationship with Delanie and Melanie." Helen said.
"What do you mean?" I asked Helen.
"Sorry. You'll be dead before you can ever find out." Helen said and laughed.
Helen reached for the crystal ball but before she could touch it I felt myself being shoved to the side and the ball being snatched from my hands. By the time I managed to see what was going on, I saw that the last bits of Kyle was being blown away by the wind.
Kyle just sacrificed himself for me. I turned and saw Delanie breaking down in Melanie's arms. Kyle must have told her what he was about to do and said goodbye when I wasn't looking.
"No! This was not supposed to happen!" Helen shouted.
"It was supposed to be you! You!" Helen screamed, pointing directly at me then she disappeared and so did Maco's head from his body.
I saw Melanie looking at me, teary eyes, as she hugged her sister, trying to comfort her. I never expected such a great sacrifice from Kyle. Someone who had been my enemy for more years than I can count.
"Kyle..." I called his name, almost in a whisper. "Thank you brother." I said, even though I knew he probably couldn't hear me.
"Girls." I said. They both looked at me.
"We have to go now." I added.
"No wait." Delanie said. "I want to stay here for some time please. You two can leave without me." Delanie said.
"We can't leave you alone here. It's the demon realm." Melanie said.
"Then stay or do whatever. I don't want to leave just yet." Delanie replied.
"Let's just give her some space Melanie." I said.
"No I can't just leave her here." Melanie replied me.
"We aren't going anywhere. We'll still be here. Just at a distance." I explained. Melanie looked at her sister who she still held close in her arms.
"She needs me with her right now. I can't leave her. Just stay a little more Denver." Melanie said to me. I nodded and moved away from where they were.
(MELANIE POV):
So many things are happening all at once. I can hardly keep up with it. One thing was sure though. Helen's whos shoke me. She said we can't have a romantic relationship with each other but how? As far as I know, only relatives can't but then... We can't be related to demons can we?
So i guess I can cross that out of my head.
What is important to me right now is my sister. I would have been the one in her place right now if not for Kyle's sacrifice. Wherever you are Kyle, we will never forget you.
After what was almost an hour, Delanie was finally ready to leave. I called on Denver and he took us back to Kyle's cottage.
Delanie rushed into a room and shut the door loudly behind herself.
"Do you think she will ever be okay?" Denver asked, concerned.
"I can only hope for the best out of it all." I replied Denver.
A full week passed after that. Delanie was never the same again. "Delanie?" I said as I entered her room.
"Can I come in?" I asked her.
"Why? What do you want?" Delanie asked me.
Delanie had her face buried in a pillow as she spoke. I went in anyways and sat beside her.
"You can't be like this forever Delanie. You have to move on at a point." I said to her.
"That's easy for you to say. It wasn't Denver that died." Delanie replied.
"That's not what I am trying to say Delanie. You have hardly eaten anything and it's almost a week since you last came out of this room." I told her.
"And I don't ever plan on coming out. Now unless you know how to bring Kyle back to me I suggest that you leave my room right now. I don't want to talk to anyone." Delanie said to me.
"Okay... Just please..."
"Please get out of my room." Delanie interrupted me.
"I just hope you get better. I need my sister back." I said before closing the door.
Denver appeared before me. "She is still not okay?" Denver asked me.
"Yes. Still refuses to leave her room and hardly eats." I answered.
"I think i might have just found a solution." Denver said. "But we can't be too sure it would work." he added.
"What is it? Found a way to make Delanie feel better?" I asked him.
"Yes and no." Denver answered. "Like I said, we can't be too sure it would work. I have an I dea on how to bring Kyle back." Denver said.
"How are we going to do it?" I asked him.
"Come outside with me. Let's talk." Denver said to me, gesturing at the door to Delanie's room. I guess he just didn't want to give her false hope or any crazy ideas.
"So tell me. What is it?" I said to Denver.
"It's the crystal ball itself. I think we have to break it." Denver said.
"I've been making some researches about the crystal ball in the demon realm since that day. I discovered it captures souls, bodies and spirits with the right spells applied to it." Denver explained.Download Novelah App
