Chapter 27 Past Recorded Video

Ryuga appeared from the shadows, attacking with terrifying speed. Milea raised her arm to parry, but Ryuga's strength was too great. His punch slammed into Milea's chest, sending her flying backwards into an electrical panel.
Blue lightning flashed through Milea's body, pain spreading throughout her nervous system. But she couldn't stop now. She had to fight back if she didn't want to be controlled by her cousin, Ryuga.
Milea's hand moved to the gun kept at her waist, firing two bullets at Ryuga. Unfortunately, the shots missed. She had expected this to happen. So, she had been vigilant beforehand in dealing with this unexpected situation.
DOR! DOR!
Ryuga swatted her away with his knife, metal sparks clashing in the air. “You won't be able to conquer me, Milea.”
“Really? Have you ever been in a karate or ninja club?” Milea joked.
“Listen! I have no intention of killing you, Milea,” Ryuga assured her.
Milea looked at him sharply. “Oh yeah? But it looks like you almost did. You've lost control.”
Ryuga sighed and still twirled the knife in his hand. “I just want to make sure that information doesn't get out of here. Vincent doesn't want you to know the truth,” he explained.
Milea squinted. “Or is it Lorenzo who doesn't want Vincent to know?” she quipped.
Ryuga's expression changed instantly. There was a glimpse of hesitation on his face.
Milea didn't want to waste any more time. She kicked the electrical panel behind her, causing a large spark that was enough to disrupt the security system in the basement room of her uncle Nakamura's residence. Lights flickered, and the automatic door behind her began to close.
This was her chance. Milea jumped through the gap in the door before it closed completely.
BRUK!
Milea tumbled across the floor of another hallway, her chest rising and falling as she gasped for breath.
Behind her, Ryuga slammed into the metal door that was now locked. His sharp eyes stared at Milea from behind the small glass in the door.
“Milea! Don't tell Lorenzo about this!” Ryuga warned.
Milea didn't answer. She just ran as fast as she could, clutching the drive containing the secret recording in her hand, as proof.
Milea had to find Vincent. Before it was too late.

Elsewhere, the sound of explosions echoed throughout the base. The red light from the emergency alarm swirled wildly, illuminating the shadows in the now debris-filled hallways. Smoke and dust clouded the air, making breathing difficult.
“They're coming!” Milea's voice echoed through the remaining communication systems.
Vincent turned quickly, pulling the gun from his waist. He could feel the presence of someone familiar, though he couldn't see them yet.
Lorenzo stood beside him, calmly brushing the dust from his suit. “Kazuto finally played his last card,” he surmised.
Suddenly, from behind the smoke, a tall figure in a black suit appeared. His eyes were sharp, filled with murderous intent. Kazuto.
“It's been a long time, Vin,” Kazuto's voice sounded very calm, but there was darkness in his sardonic sneer.
Vincent squinted. “Why am I not surprised you're here?”
Kazuto smiled faintly. “Because you know I've always been hunting you. And you know what I'm doing now is... at war with you.”
In an instant, Kazuto disappeared from Vincent's sight.
Vincent reacted quickly, raising his weapon. But Kazuto was already behind him before he could fire.
BRUK!
Kazuto's kick slammed into Vincent's stomach, sending him crashing into a glass table that instantly shattered into pieces, scattering on the floor.
Lorenzo moved back, his eyes watching the battle with interest.
“I wonder... who will win between you two?” muttered Lorenzo with a smile.
Milea appeared from the other side of the room, pointing a gun at Lorenzo. “Get away from Vin! Now!”
Lorenzo glanced over, then smiled coldly. “Milea, you wouldn't dare shoot me.”
Milea's finger trembled on the trigger. 'Damn it! He was right.' But, in order to protect her husband, she had to shoot that bastard.
“Why? Because I saved you once?” Lorenzo stepped closer.
Milea fell silent. A flash of memory flashed, Lorenzo the other day had pulled her out of an ambush, saving her life when she fled at the harbour.
But that was then. Now, Lorenzo was his most real enemy.
Vincent tried to get up, but Kazuto didn't give him time. Kazuto moved quickly, kicking the gun out of Vincent's hand and pressing his knee into Vincent's chest, holding him on the floor.
“You don't remember, right?” Kazuto whispered.
Vincent's eyes widened. “What do you mean?”
Kazuto leaned closer, whispering in his ear. “I'm not just someone you know, Vin. I'm a part of your past that you deliberately want to erase from your memory.”
In an instant, hazy memories flashed through Vincent's head, the sound of screaming, blood, and the figure of a boy standing in the middle of destruction 25 years ago.
Someone who... looked like Kazuto. Or maybe that little boy his age really was Kazuto.
Vincent panted, his eyes wide as he tried to recall the events of the past. “No way... You...”
Kazuto smiled sarcastically. “Now you remember, don't you? You are not only the one who is haunted by the past. But, you also helped destroy my past.”
Suddenly, from outside the building, the sound of a helicopter could be heard. Kazuto's team had arrived.
Milea looked at the shattered window, then at Vincent. If they didn't leave soon, they would die.
Before Milea could pull Vincent away, Lorenzo pointed his gun at Vincent's head and said, “It's time to end this.”
DOR!
Suddenly, the screen went black.
DOR!
The gunshot echoed throughout the room. Milea screamed. “NO! VIN!”
However, when the smoke cleared, and it turned out that Vincent was still alive.
Lorenzo's bullet missed just a few millimetres from his head, not by mistake, but because someone was holding his hand.
“Enough! Stop it!” Kazuto's voice was calm, but there was danger in it. His hand gripped Lorenzo's wrist, stopping the deadly shot. “I can't let you kill him.”
Vincent panted, still slumped on the floor. His head was throbbing hard from Kazuto's words earlier. The past? Destruction? What exactly had he done in the past?
Kazuto growled, breaking free from Lorenzo's grip. “Don't interfere. I'll finish this now!”
But before Kazuto could move again-
BOOM!
A powerful explosion rocked the base.
