CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE: Jealousy/ Jade Vine

JADE'S POV
I walked into the science library where I know she'll be at, thinking of millions of ways to win her heart. If only Elle can return my love, I'll be the happiest man on earth. It's a Monday afternoon and she usually spend such times at the science library. It's been her habit since I know her, except something comes up.
"Hey Jade." A friend and colleague of mine said as soon as he saw me. He was walking out of the library just as I was entering.
"Hey bro, what's up?" We slapped hands together.
"I'm good man, I see you came to see your babe." He said with a knowing smile as he looked behind him, I followed his gaze and saw Elle sitting at her usual spot in the library, her head bent over the book on her desk with her laptop facing her. She was putting on her reading glasses, her eyes puckered in concentration.
"Ah haha," I chuckled. "I will see you later Neo." I smiled.
"Sure bro." We slapped hands again, before parting ways.
I walked over to her side of the library.
"Reading going smoothly over there?" I asked playfully in a low tone as I pulled out a seat and sat down.
She looked up at me and smiled, So beautiful!
"Sure Jade, what you doing here?" She asked.
"I came to read." I replied nonchalantly.
"You and I know that ain't true. Okay where's your book?" She asked raising a brow.
I folded my lips, she's right. We were talking on low tones to avoid attention or distracting other students who are seriously engrossed In their studies.
"Fine you win. I missed you so I had to come see you." I said.
"What?!"
"You weren't picking my calls or replying my texts, that got me worried. I had to come see you since I know you are always here on Mondays," I blunted out.
"Oh, I'm really sorry Jade I had a lot on my mind." She said with a small smile.
"Like what? If you mind sharing." I asked, searching her eyes.
"Things I'd rather not talk about." She said staring back at me.
"It's okay. Hope you are good now?" I asked with a smile.
"Yeah, thanks. How have you been?" She asked.
"Well, I've been good." I simply replied. She nodded.
Her pulchritude is breathtaking, she's got beauty with brains. She's the best in her department.
I looked at my wrist watch then back at her.
"Your reading hours are over Elle and I know you haven't had lunch yet."
"Seriously Jade? How much do you know about me?" She asked playfully.
"Enough to make you speechless." I said smugly with a smile.
"Oh reallyyyy," She drawled.
"Let's not change the subject Elle, come let's go have lunch, you shouldn't skip lunch babe."
"Here we go again, babe really? But then, the girls and I are..."
"Please Elle, do not say no." I said cutting her off.
"You should really give up Jade, I don't want you getting hurt in the future because of me." She said.
Okay, I'm not sure I get that but then...
"Although giving up sounds like an option, it's never my choice. Please have this lunch with me, My Lady." I said with a low playful courtesy.
She almost laughed out loud, but on looking around she stifled her laugh making me smile. I always love seeing her happy.
"Okay your highness, as you wish." I smiled and helped her pack up.
We stood up and walked out of the building.
"I know you didn't bring your car today, so we are taking mine." I said as soon as we were out.
"Jade seriously, how did you know so much," she hit me playfully. "Did you perhaps implant a camera in my apartment?" She asked.
"Is that even possible? Maybe I should do that." I said.
"Jade!"
I chuckled, and opened the car door for her.
I've studied her enough to know the kinda person she is. I didn't see her car outside, and she sometimes ride in her friends car most Mondays that's how I knew.
"Please step in my Princess."
"First of all, only my dad calls me that name. Second of all, you are looking great today."
Did I hear that well, she just complimented my looks.
Woah! I feel great.
I beamed at her.
As if noticing my excitement, she added. "I'm complimenting you right now just as a friend should, don't get ideas."
Okay I don't like that...
"Are you just noticing it? I've always been good looking."
"I withdraw my compliment then." She huffed.
"You are so cute babe, please get in Your Majesty." I chuckled.
"I sure will." She said with a proud smile with her chin raised up proudly, she stepped in imitating a Queen while using a hand to fan herself mockingly.
I was already laughing so hard, she can sure act.
Elle's fun to be with when she's in a good mood.
I closed the door and walked over to the driver's seat, feeling extremely pleased with myself.
              CILIA'S POV
"...Professor Hathaway wants us to submit the assignment she gave us last week coming Wednesday. Professor Douglas shifted his next lecture with us to next week Friday, Our classes are over for today till tomorrow..." Jasmine went on and on explaining our lecture schedules for the week, as we walked out of the lecture hall into the crowdy hallway.
Although she's a scholarship student all the way from Ethiopia, I love and value our friendship. She's the most intelligent student and also the course representative of my department, I'm the second most intelligent in my department after her. Aside from the girls, Jasmine's my next trustable friend.
My backpack strapped against my back, I hopped alongside her.
"Did Mrs Robinson cancel her lecture with us today or what?" I asked.
"Yeah, I heard she isn't feeling well." She answered while typing on her phone.
"Alright."
Just then my phone beeped alongside hers and many others, indicating a message from the campus students social media accounts. I Iook around at some of the students and was perplexed at the comments I was hearing.
She's so lucky.
Does it have to be Aurora Desmond, that snake?
Aurora again? The number one celebrity snatcher I know?
She's very good at what she does.
Jay looks so stunning here.
I wish it was my party.
I should invite Jay to my party too.
Okay, what's going on???
I looked back at Jasmine, she was about to say something when her phone rang.
"I will see you later Lia," she said and left.
I tapped on the notification displaying on my phone screen and it led me to the Campus Instagram account.
JAY WALKER GRACED AURORA DESMOND'S BIRTHDAY PARTY YESTERDAY.
There was a photo of them together with Aurora smiling widely. I know her, she's just an upcoming Fashion model. What did Jay see in her? Yeah she's got the hour glass shape unlike me who's slender, but if it's about beauty and height I'm very sure I surpassed her on that. Although she's got long black hair compared to my short bobbed deep brown one. Yes, so what?
Wait! What's wrong with me? Am I seriously jealous and comparing myself with her? Lia wake up!
I frowned and scrolled down, another photo of them hugging.
There's also another post uploaded by Aurora herself.
THANKS FOR ACCEPTING MY INVITE JAY, I'M GRATEFUL, YOU MADE MY DAY.
She uploaded photos of him and her at her party with another photo of her, another girl and Jay.
Wasn't this yesterday? He's wearing the very same clothes he wore when I saw him at the cathedral.
Does that mean he met her before coming to me?
Didn't I tell you he's a Playboy, you'll only get hurt if you let him in your life.... My subconscious admonished.
That's right, I shouldn't let...
The shrieking and squealing of the students interrupted my train of thoughts. What's with them again?
I looked up only to see Jay Walker standing in front of me.
             TANIA'S POV
"Finally, the last three points on orthopedic physical therapy on the knee are as follows:
*The MC Test: lift leg off the bed and if tibia drops there is cruciate dysfunction.
*The Mac Murrays test: place the thumb and finger on the joint line watching the patient's face for pain, flex the legs, externally rotate the foot, abduct and extend leg to test for medical meniscal 'clicks" Flex the leg, internally rotate and abduct for lateral meniscal 'clicks'.
*Lastly, ask the patient to lie prone and then examine the back of the knee..." Dr Anwen Lois our welsh Orthopedics Professor, explained as she demonstrated her points on the volunteer student.
I jotted down the points on my laptop while listening with keen interest to what she was saying.
"...and that will be all on today's class. In our next class we'll be talking about Spinal Rehabilitation, remember your tests are coming shortly. Make a detail research on the aspects of orthopedic physical therapy we didn't discuss and summit it coming Thursday to my review. I will see you all in the next class." She ended as she picked up her bag, and walked out of the students physical therapy clinic.
I packed up my stuffs as the students began to disperse. My phone vibrated and I checked it, a message from Elle.
I'm with Jade, he insisted I have
lunch with him today. I will see
     you girls at home.
That dude, seriously!
I picked up the rest of my properties and walked out of the clinic. I should go meet Lia at her department but first, I need to visit the botanical garden. There's a plant Elle once told me about, I need to see it.

               ROE'S POV
"I will take just one more question before I go." I said to some of the year two biochemistry students I was tutoring at the biochemistry lab, with my eyes fixed on my vibrating phone.
Mother was calling me again.
I looked up at the students with a smile, many had their hands up already.
"Giselle, you may ask on." I smiled at the silver blonde haired girl.
"Thanks Prince Roe, actually...."
"Just Roe Giselle. I thought we talked about this earlier yet you guys still repeat it. Anyways, I'll say it again, outside my father's kingdom and here in America, I'm a student as you all are, please see and treat me as one. If you keep on addressing me royally, you'll be making it difficult for me to adjust to the system here, thereby making tutoring extremely difficult for me and I believe you wouldn't want that, or will ya?"
"Noooo!" they all chorused
"Very well," I smiled. "Giselle you may continue."
"Alright. Uhmm, earlier you said something about agglutination being the process that occurs if an antigen is mixed with it's corresponding antibody called isoagglutinin right?" She paused.
"Yeah, go on." I said underlying the word Agglutination on the maker board.
"Can you please recap on the causes of agglutination?" She asked.
"Definitely. Okay listen up," I said as I glanced quickly at my wristwatch, time wasn't on my side and I really need to get that foreign plant today before mother nags again.
She's been on my neck since a week ago about this plant, what's the name again....'Jade Vine'  which as she said was one of the world's most rarest plant. She said Princess Ariana's birthday was coming soon, in two days to be precise and mother wants me to gift her something special, something she really loves, so mother went on her search and discovered Arianna has this thing for Jade Vine and so she asked me to see if I could get it here in America.
Through her connections, she was told they have it at the botanical garden here on campus. Mother already arranged with the school authorities for me to get the plant today and have it flown to England at most today, that's why she's been calling me.
I look at my students, they were looking at me curiously probably wondering why I went silent.
"I'm sorry guys, was thinking about something for a bit.
Now in answering your question Giselle, agglutination is caused when people are given blood transfusions of the wrong blood group, the antibiotics react with the incorrectly transfused blood group and as a result, the erythrocytes clump up and stick together causing them to agglutinate." I explained. "Did you get that Giselle?" I asked looking at her, she smiled.
"Very well Pri....er..em Roe, thanks a lot." Some students laughed at her repeated mistake. I smiled at her, she's one of the various scholarship students, probably why she's finding it difficult in calling me by name.
"You are welcome, the rest of you please write down your questions. I'd be answering them at the next tutorial session, you can all disperse now."
"Goodbye Roe."
"Thanks a lot, you're so kind."
Many of them greeted before leaving.
"This humble student appreciates your Royal Highness efforts." A girl said with a mock bow as the others laughed, while leaving. I chuckled and picked up my ringing phone.
"Roe have you gotten it?" Mom asked from the other end.
"No mother, I just ended a class now, I'll go see the gardener right away."
"You should be fast about it, your father as you know is aware and awaiting the arrival of the plant. Demas must be waiting already, he arrived California two days ago. Don't call Arianna yet, remember it's a surprise..." I rolled my eyes mentally, like I would. "And don't forget the other parcels, since you are still studying in America it's our duty to gi...."
"Mother I clearly understand. You should relax I've got this covered." I said interrupting her unending lecture.
Arianna is the second daughter of the King of Ireland, she was betrothed to me on her tenth birthday, not like we like each other anyways. Father wants me to wed her on my 25th birthday. I'll figure out a way to deal with that later, for now I just need to study.
"Alright, call me immediately you get it. Did Diana tell you she's engaged to Prince Roland the thi..."
"Of course mother, I was home five weeks ago. Goodbye Mother, kindly extend my regards to father and the rest of my siblings." I interrupted her again.
She talks too much.
I pulled off my lab coat, folded it properly before putting it in my bag.
"Okay Roe, but don't forget to call me." She hung up.
Finally, I breathed...
Picking up my bag, I walked out of the laboratory while placing a call to Demas, he's the one to return with the package.
He picked up at first ring.
"Your Highness,"
"Are you there already?" I asked.
"Yes my prince,"
"I will be there in a moment." I hung up.
Time to go see some rare plant...
