CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT: The gift bracelet/Remembering Her.
CILIA'S POV "It's so beautiful Elle, I'm telling you honestly." Tania gushed as we admired the beautiful adjustable luxury silver bracelet with lavender colours on each flower-shaped spot of the bracelet. "Yeah it's so adorable and the design is so unique, your mom's bracelets are always the best Elle. But this was specifically designed for a single person, you can't find this exact same design anywhere in the world. So unique and it's definitely a trackable one like it predecessors." I said with a smile. "Thanks guys, but I think I'll gift it to Alex, I have a lot of this already." She said. "Are you sure about that?" Nia and I asked simultaneously as we looked at her. "Yeah, besides she'll be needing stuffs like this once we announce her to the world, her security and all begins to matter. You get what I'm saying right?" "That's true," Nia said as she glanced at our friendship yet trackable bracelet on her left wrist. Mine was on my right wrist, Elle was putting on hers on her right wrist, with two more similar ones on same wrist, making them three, she really has a lot of bracelets like this. Her wristwatch on her left wrist. "I agree with you, we'll be having two newbies in our group on Saturday, I think we should wear the identical white tops Elle bought on denim jean and sneakers to the studio on Saturday. What do you think?" I asked the girls. Elle yawned tiredly, as she rolled on her bed. "I so much love the idea girl, but the weather ought to be favourable for that kinda outfit." Nia said, scratching her neck thoughtfully. "That's right, but even if the weather refused to be favourable, we can still wear something identical, we have tons of such wears either for winter or summer." Elle added smilingly, she's been all smiles since she returned from the meeting with her dad's secretary and of course we already know why. 'Daniel Roberts was a total gentleman to our darling friend today, at his father's Coffee Palace.' I really miss seeing Jay, since that day I walked off, I haven't set my eyes on him even from a distance, I feel like he's avoiding me on purpose. If only I could see him again and apologize for how I acted. "I think I wanna go to bed, I have an early class tomorrow." Tania said. "Alright, gather around let's say our prayers." I said smilingly. Elle stood up from her bed, Tania and I stood up from the couch and we joined our hands together as we all knelt down. ALEXIS POV I stood by my bedroom window as I stared out into the dark night, my hands wrapped around the cute pink teddy bear my idol got for me. It was yet the beginning of another year of my lonely life that was never celebrated. Even when my mother was alive, the only way she celebrated my birthday; as far back as I can remember, was by wishing me a happy birthday and presenting me with little cute toys she managed to afford as she was poor. My schooling back then and even here was by scholarship, I was always bullied by my colleagues who never failed to pass out snide remarks on my mom's financial status each day. I used to wonder why I had no Dad but my Mom never told me a thing, it was from rumours I heard that he was a black man who impregnated my mom and ran away, but I never paid attention to that. Once, I had asked mom about my father and she had simply said 'Alexis you have no father, that's all you should know.' She had said coldly. Now she was gone and I still don't know about my dad. Aunt Hanna have been so nice to me but like Mom, she had no answers about my dad. She took me into her newly wedded home and have been raising me up like she'll raise her own child, when she finally gets one. Earlier today, she had wished me a happy birthday like Mom used to do and bought me some snacks. Aunt Hanna is a struggling woman too so she couldn't afford paying for my tuition fee resulting in me being a social care student. The rich in my new school look down on me even with my super intelligence, I have only one friend his name is 'Hector' he's a class ahead of me and is two years older than me. He's my only friend here, not like I never tried having others but no one wanted to associate with me because they said I was too poor to be their friend. I smiled sadly, I miss my mom still, she was my only friend back in New York. The door to my room creaked open, I turned around immediately just as aunt Hanna walked in. "Alex, you are still up?" She said as soon as she saw me. "Come, I'll put you to bed," I walked over to her and climbed up my bed. She tucked me in and smiled at me. "I'm sorry, I couldn't celebrate your birthday properly my dear, I'll try to get you a decent present soon. I promise to do better next time, okay?" She crooned as she brushed a strand of hair off my face and adjusted the blanket properly. I nodded, smiling back at her. "Goodnight, little angel." She kissed my forehead and stood up. "Goodnight Aunt Hanna." I said, she smiled and switched off the main light leaving only the bedside lamp. I watch her walked out of my pink room, closing the door behind her. My eyes trailed off to my idols wallpapers on the opposite wall, the dim light reflected a little on her photos. I smiled back at her smiling face and gently closed my eyes. At least my dream of meeting my idol came through and she treats me like a big sister will treat her younger..... I love you so much Black Diva, thank you God, for making my dream come true...I whispered within me and slowly, I soon drifted into dreamland. DANIEL'S POV "Come with me guys, you need to see this." Jay said, standing up from the couch and walking into the bedroom. I closed my laptop and followed him, Roe groaned from his book. "Jay why can't you bring whatever that is to the living room?" He said still sitting down, when Jay didn't answer him, he stood up and followed me. I opened the bedroom door and stepped in, Roe right at my tail. Jay was sitting down on his bed as he wiped a red/black big gift box with a hanky. "What's in there?" I asked sitting beside him. Roe drew out a reading chair and sat down facing us. "Answers to your questions Dan, are you ready to remember?" He smiled. "Okay..." I drawled. Roe shifted his chair closer as Jay opened the lid of the box, at this moment I was filled with extreme curiosity. I watched as Jay brought out two big rectangular wrapped items from the box and gently began to open one of them. Suspense was killing me seriously, I took the other item and tore at the wrapper quickly. I brought out the framed photo I saw in there and stared at it intently, just as Jay dropped another on my lap. I stared at the both of them in shock. One was a photo of a young girl of about eight years, sitting on the sand at a beach as she glared at someone. The other was a girl of about fourteen years old on cheerleaders outfit smiling brightly as she cheered for someone. I looked at the two photos carefully _it was the same person. "These photos you drew yourself. The first one was when we were ten years old, it was the first human photo you had ever drawn," This pictures looks like Diva's face, she's the one Jay called my first love? "...the second was when we were sixteen years old and in highschool. Our school had selected several of us to play football against the boys of Lionel's High School and we were the visiting school, you had seen her among the cheerleaders then but you never had the opportunity to talk to her because they won and the coach back then, made us leave in a hurry. So immediately we returned, I remembered both of us sitting at my father's beach house and you drawing her, Roe had travelled to England at that time. But you just couldn't forget her, you visited the beach several times with the hope of meeting her again, but you didn't. One day you told me you were going to drive yourself to California and see her but I warned you against it, you declined and went on without your parents awareness, I was the only one who knew back then. Unfortunately on your way to Los Angeles, you were involved in a terrible accident that nearly took your life, that explains the long mark at your back. Due to the accident, you suffered memory loss for three months but you were able to remember every other thing and persons, except her. Each time I showed you her photos, you'll look at me quizzically and ask me who she was, you couldn't remember her, so I took the photos and kept them with me, praying that you'll meet her again and remember...Dan are you listening to me?" Tears were running down my cheeks as the images flashed, I was remembering her now, my first love. FLASHBACK "Jordan! Jordan!! Come downstairs, lunch is ready." I heard mother shouted from the kitchen. I chuckled and continued my drawing, I was almost through with the painting. The girl I saw at the beach today was extremely beautiful, I missed talking to her because I was called by my mom, I would really love to meet her again. "Jordan don't make me come upstairs and meet you, are you trying to skip lunch again? Come quickly, you can paint later." Mom yelled again. "I'm coming Mom," I dropped my tools and carefully laid my drawing aside, I'll continue later. I ran out of my painting room to meet Mom. * * * * * "Pass the ball JD, pass it quickly." My teammate shouted, I quickly guided the ball away from the opponents before me and finally passed it to my teammate. He guided the ball towards the opposing team's net, carefully passing it to another teammate who was closer. Zapp....The guy kicked the ball into the net, the ball flew past the goalkeeper and hitted the center of the net heavily. "Goalllll!!!!!"My team celebrated our second success since we started the game. Lionel's Boys already scored us by two goals earlier, now we were on the same page as them, heading towards the final battle. After the brief celebration with my teammates, we returned back to the game. The game went on and on for some minutes with neither side winning, as this was a thug of war. The cheerleaders from the home team began cheering. Their most popular defense player and middle man was with the ball, guiding it swiftly and skillfully towards my team's net. I was a middle man too. I watched him approach getting ready to counteract his attack. "Go Carl! Go Carl!! Go Carl!!!" They cheered, my eyes wandered to them briefly that was when I sighted her amongst the cheerleaders, as she cheered and praised her home players with the rest of the team. She was all grown now, looking so matured and beautiful, but her eyes and face didn't change making me recognize her instantly. I was distracted already by the sight of her, and when I finally decided to face the game, it was too late. I was distracted so it was very easy for the guy to knock me down and run past with the ball, our other players couldn't maneuver the ball away from the determined guy, neither could the goalkeeper stop the rolling ball from hitting the net powerfully. There were shouts of praise and jubilations from the students and players of Lionel's High School since it was a clear victory on their side, they lifted the guy high up in the air and I looked up at the cheerleaders of Lionel's High again. She was there, squealing happily with the rest as they did their dance, the evening sun radiating on her beautiful face. "Here," My friend Jay stretched out his hand and helped me up. "Jordan! Over here." My Coach called, I looked at her one more time, Imprinting her image in my mind before turning and walking back to the Coach with Jay. * * * * * "You finally saw her again Dan, it's good but you don't have to travel all the way to California all by yourself, just to go see her." Jay chided. "I have to Jay, you don't understand." I said staring at the two pictures of her I drew. We were at my beach house in New York City. "Then make me Jordan," he said worriedly mentioning my middle name. "I've been in love with her since I was ten, never failing to visit the beach at every summer in hope of seeing her again but all was futile. For six good years Lee Jung, I searched around for her all to no avail, only to see her at Lionel's High in Los Angeles. Tell me, what's bad in me going to see her when she's just states away?" I whispered yelled. Jay sighed wearily. "Not like I'm against you going there, but you shouldn't drive yourself all that distance. Take your driver if you must and inform your parents." He advised again. "No, I wanna go myself. It'll be fun for me I know, end of discussion." I said walking into my room. As Jay just sighed in despair. ***** Here I am having the fun of my life and going out to see the Queen of my heart, my first love.... I hummed happily, thinking of how she'll react when she sees me. Will she remember me? The beautiful laughter I saw on her face as she cheered. I was busy thinking about her and I didn't notice the car with failed brake coming with full speed behind me, by the time I noticed it, it was too late, I tried swerving the car fast out of the way but before I could do that, I was hitted from behind, I don't know what happened next. I only know that I slipped into total black out. PRESENTLY I sighed softly, wiping my tears away. My friends were wise enough to give me some privacy. I sniffed and wiped the tears off the framed photos. I stood up weakly and headed for my drawer, I brought out the photo in there, before I sank down on the tiled floor and placed all three photos on the floor before me. I glanced at them carefully, it was truly one person, Diva Scott happened to be my first true love, Isn't that wonderful? I will hang this photos on this room walls, so I can stare at them all day. I'm truly thankful for my true friendship Jay, he stood by me all those times through thick and thin. Roe was also supportive each time he was around. Such great friends I have. I'm sorry Diva for not recognizing you earlier, but from now on, I'll treat you nice and be your hero. I hugged the photos close to my heart. Thanks Fate for bringing her back to me.... I smiled tearily.
