Logan's POV
I nodded, feeling the emotional wall between us. “Okay, but I’m here for you, and I’ll be there when you’re ready,” I said softly before walking away.
As I left, anxiety gripped me. I wanted to make her feel safe and loved, and I hoped the time she needed would help her fix everything.
The next day, as I was leaving for Scarlett’s wedding, I could feel the tension in the air. Emma had been ignoring me since last night. It was hard to face this special day when we weren’t on good terms with our partner.
As we were getting ready in the living room, Allonza’s voice suddenly broke the silence. “Mom, are we going to Aunt Scarlett’s wedding?” asked her with a cheerful face, looking enthusiastic about the upcoming event.
“Yes, honey. You’ve brought a gift for him, right?” Emma replied, her voice calm but a little stiff. I could feel the reluctance in her tone as if she was trying to hold back feelings she couldn’t express yet.
“Not yet, Mom. I want to help Dad buy a present!” Allonza replied, oblivious to the tension.
I glanced at Emma for a moment, hoping to catch a hint of a smile from her, but she seemed to be still focused on her own feelings. It was obvious that she was still upset or disappointed, and that made me feel really sad.
“I’ve prepared a present for Scarlett,” I said, hoping to get Emma’s attention. “I want to make sure she feels special today.”
“Good, Sir. I’m happy for her,” Emma replied without looking at me, and I knew that she hadn’t completely forgotten what happened earlier.
Allonza cheered excitedly as she played with the present we had prepared. “Come on, Mom! An important moment awaits us!” she exclaimed with that cheerful expression, trying to lighten the mood.
After a little preparation, I tried to stay positive and ignore the tension. Scarlett’s wedding is a beautiful moment, and I want to celebrate it in the best way possible.
“Let’s go, kids!” I said, trying to focus on the positive things ahead. Although there were unresolved issues between Emma and me, I hoped that today would be an opportunity for a moment of happiness and warmth.
The car pulled away, and we drove towards the wedding venue, hoping that today would help improve our moods. I hoped that we could find a way to talk and resolve our issues after the party because our relationship was more important than anything else in my life.
When we arrived at the wedding venue, we were greeted with a cheerful atmosphere. Scarlett and Ethan looked happy, surrounded by friends and family. As we approached, I noticed that Emma greeted them with warm greetings, but her attitude towards me remained cold.
“Congratulations, Scarlett,” Emma said, a genuine smile on her face.
“Thank you, Emma. Thank you for coming,” Scarlett replied with a wide smile, looking elegant in her white dress. She had once told me about her desire to wear a white dress when she got married, and today her dream has come true.
Seeing Scarlett’s beauty on her big day made me feel proud and happy for her. However, on the other hand, I felt a sense of pressure when Emma seemed to not pay attention to me. She was very warm to Scarlett, but she felt cold to me as if the distance between us was growing.
After our congratulations, we were ushered into the venue. An atmosphere of love and happiness surrounded us. Soft music in the background, children’s laughter, and the warmth of those closest to us all combined to create a festive atmosphere.
“This is such a great day, isn’t it?” said Ethan, standing next to Scarlett. He looked so grateful and excited. “We’re so happy to have all our friends and family here.”
“Yes, it’s wonderful,” Emma replied, though out of the corner of my eye, I could see that the atmosphere was making her feel awkward.
I felt the need to do something to make things better. “Scarlett, you look beautiful and happy. Everything looks perfect,” I said, trying to show my support for her special day.
“Thank you, Logan! That means a lot to me,” she replied, her eyes shining with happiness.
We were led to our seats. Despite the cheerful atmosphere of the wedding, my heart still yearned for warmth and connection with Emma. Today was about celebrating Scarlett and Ethan’s love, but I also wanted to find my way back to the warmth of our relationship.
I hoped that after the event, there would be a chance to talk and mend any misunderstandings between us. But for now, I would focus on celebrating and honoring this special moment.
“Let’s take a picture together at the altar so it’s like couple goals,” Scarlett said excitedly, looking at me and Emma with hope.
Emma agreed, though I could feel the tension still hanging between us. She smiled, but there was something in her gaze that told me she wasn’t fully healed. We walked down the aisle, where the atmosphere was full of happiness and love.
After Scarlett and Ethan got ready in front of us, I smiled widely and raised my hand to pose. Emma was next to me, but I could feel the emotional distance between us despite our physical proximity.
After a few pictures were taken, Scarlett and Ethan looked happy. But when I looked at Emma, her expression was mixed—a little happy, but also melancholy. Like she was feeling really jealous.
After the photo session, we separated from Scarlett and Ethan to give them time with the other guests. Emma remained quiet and tended to shy away from social interaction.
Returning to where we were standing, I dared to speak. “Emma, can you forgive me?” I asked, my voice soft, full of hope.
She looked at me, but there was no warmth in her face. “I need time,” she said firmly, and I felt my heart clench.
“But, Emma, I don’t want you to feel this way. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings,” I said, trying to explain as best I could.
“I understand, but right now, I just want to think about everything,” she replied, her head hanging as if holding back tears.
I felt so frustrated and upset with myself. As I looked around, Scarlett and Ethan’s happy moments were increasingly prominent, and on the other hand, my heart felt heavy with the unresolved issues between us. Today should have been a happy moment, but I could only hope to fix things with Emma.
“Okay, I’ll give you time. But remember, I love you and I will always be there for you,” I said, trying to remind her of the essence of our relationship.
Emma nodded slowly, but her gaze remained unspoken. I felt a mixture of hope and sadness as I looked at her. I hoped that, as time went on, she would understand that my intentions were good and that we could find a way to support each other again, especially on this day that we were supposed to celebrate.
We stood in silence, each caught up in our own thoughts. As I watched Scarlett and Ethan happily walk down the aisle, my heart was filled with pride for them, but at the same time, I was afraid of losing that same happiness that Emma had.
After a while, we saw Scarlett and Ethan approaching with big smiles. “Hey, you two! Let’s take another picture!” Scarlett said, cheerful and excited.
Emma smiled faintly, but there was a hint of hesitation on her face. “Sure,” she said quietly, but I could see the uncertainty in her eyes.
We all gathered back in the aisle, and when the camera was ready, I tried to put on my best smile. Despite the burden on my heart, I wanted to support Scarlett and Ethan on their happy occasion.
As the picture was taken, I realized that Emma’s presence by my side, even in her still awkward manner, was a small step toward healing our relationship. Today was a celebration of love, not just for Scarlett and Ethan, but also a chance for us to remind ourselves that connection and communication are key to everything.
After the photos were taken, Scarlett was ecstatic. “Thank you guys for coming! This wouldn’t be the same without you!” she said, her eyes sparkling.
But at that moment, I felt a correlation between the happiness and the sadness—that this beautiful wedding also implied the fragility of personal relationships. We all moved on to the next part of the event, and I hoped that this day would touch Emma’s heart, helping her see the importance of supporting each other on this journey, not just in love but in all aspects of life.
Determining to make things right, I tried to keep the hope and love between us alive, hoping that our love would overcome any obstacles.Download Novelah App
