Logan's POV
After Scarlett and Ethan's wedding, the atmosphere in the car felt tired. Our children were starting to get sleepy, the heavy journey almost demanding them to fall asleep. But on the other hand, Emma was still awake, looking a little tense.
Glancing at the sleeping children, I tried to create a more cheerful atmosphere and celebrate the beautiful day. "How about we eat at a restaurant? We can enjoy some time together," I offered, hoping to distract from the tension.
However, Emma's answer surprised me quite a bit. "We just ate at your sister's wedding. Can't you see the children are tired too?" she replied in a curt tone.
Disappointment flowed through me. I wanted to spend time together as a family after such a happy day, but Emma's attitude made it difficult for me to find a way to approach her. "I just want us to relax a little," I said softly, trying to lighten the mood.
"We can relax at home," Emma replied, her voice still firm.
I sighed, realizing that this atmosphere was deeper than just physical fatigue. Jealousy and incomprehension seemed to still be settling in her heart, creating a chasm that made it even harder to talk.
“Emma, I understand that the kids are tired. I just wanted to spend some time with you all, especially after such a special day,” I said, trying to make it clear that my intentions were good.
She paused for a moment, seemingly thinking, but I could tell that the emotions were still strong. “Maybe we could have something easy at home, and then we could spend more time together tomorrow,” she finally said, her voice slightly softer.
“Okay, that sounds good,” I said, feeling a little relieved. Maybe this was a small step toward resolving the conflict with Emma. “We could order takeout or make something simple in the kitchen.”
As we continued our journey home, I realized that my journey to repairing this relationship would not be easy. But with patience and love, I was sure we could find a way to support each other and get back on track.
When we got home, I hoped that we would have a chance to talk more deeply with Emma after the kids were in bed. There were still some unspoken words between us, and I knew that honesty and understanding were needed to fix it.
“We need to talk, Emma. I don’t want to let our relationship drag on like this,” I said firmly, trying to get her attention and open up the blocked lines of communication.
However, her response surprised me. “I’m tired, I want to sleep,” she replied, immediately pulling the blanket over her body.
I took a deep breath, feeling the frustration and sadness growing heavier. It felt like I was talking to a wall, and I knew that the feelings I was building up couldn’t be allowed to pile up any further. This wasn’t just about the tension at the moment, but more about our relationship that was starting to crumble if we didn’t work things out soon.
“Emma, I understand that today has been tiring. But, if we don’t talk, things will only get worse,” I said softly, trying to reach her heart.
She didn’t answer, and a suffocating silence enveloped the room. In a situation like this, it was very difficult to find a way to create a connection. I remained standing by the bed, hoping that she would open up or at least show some interest in listening to me.
“I love you, Emma. No matter how bad this is, I want us to fix it together,” I continued, my voice soft even as my heart began to feel burdened.
After what felt like an eternity, she slowly spoke. “Logan, I need some time to think. This is all too much.”
The pain in my heart deepened. I just wanted us to go back to the way we used to be, where communication was open and without tension. “Okay, I’ll give you some time. But remember, I’m here when you’re ready to talk,” I said quietly, trying to convey understanding and patience.
With that, I left the room, feeling a weight on my heart. I hoped that with time, Emma would open up and see that I was always trying to love her.
As I walked into the living room, these thoughts kept swirling in my mind. I knew that our relationship needed to be handled with care and that this wasn’t the end of the world. But I believed that our love would bring us back together. And in the end, that hope was what kept me going.
The next morning, as I got ready to go to work, I saw Emma already setting breakfast on the dining table. She is indeed a good cook, and I really appreciate all the effort she puts into taking care of the kids and taking care of herself. The atmosphere this morning was a little calmer, although I could feel the tension still lingering between us.
“Shall we go first?” Adolf said, followed by the other kids. One by one they greeted each other, excited even though there was a little sleep on their faces.
After they left, it was now just Emma and I at the dining table. Silence seemed to envelop us, adding to the already tense atmosphere. I knew that we needed to talk so that everything would not be left hanging.
“Emma, I know you’re jealous, but it’s not what you think,” I said carefully, trying to open the lines of communication. “Clara is just my secretary.”
Emma looked at me, and I could see that there were many mixed feelings in those eyes. “Logan, this isn’t just about Clara. This is about how I feel neglected,” she said softly, but firmly.
My heart fluttered at her explanation. It seemed that she was not only jealous but also felt neglected in the efforts and endeavors that I had started. “Emma, I’m sorry if I made you feel that way. It was never my intention,” I said, trying to ease her worry.
She sighed but didn’t answer. We fell into silence, and I knew this was a crucial moment to make things right. “I try to be there for you and the kids. Maybe I just forgot to pay more attention to your feelings in the midst of my work,” I continued, honest about my mistake.
When Emma finally spoke, her tone was a little softer. “I’m welcome to make time for your work, but I wanted to feel appreciated and loved. I didn’t want to feel like there was a distance between us.”
The tension began to melt, and I felt my heart begin to ease. “I promise I’ll try to be better, not just as a husband but also as a friend,” I said, wanting to make this right. “You’re the most important part of my life, Emma.”
She nodded slowly, looking a little more at ease, but I knew the road ahead was still full of challenges. Today was a small step in the right direction, and I hoped we could fix our relationship with open dialogue and mutual support.
I sensed that this journey would not be easy, but with love and communication, I was sure we could find our way back to each other.
After talking and defusing the morning tension, we went to our respective offices. I dropped Emma off at her office first, feeling a little more relieved after speaking honestly with each other.
When I arrived at my office, Clara was already waiting at her desk. "Good morning, Sir! How about your wife? Do I also need to explain about yesterday's event?" she asked with a worried tone.
"No need, everything is fine," I replied, smiling kindly to confirm that the situation between Emma and I had improved. "How was the proposal I gave yesterday? Is there any response from the client?"
Clara immediately opened a document on her computer and began to explain. "Most of them gave positive feedback, but we need to make some adjustments to the graphic presentation. They want to see clearer data to support our argument," Clara said, focused and professional.
"Okay, let's prioritize that. The meeting with the client must be well prepared. We can draft a revision and set up a new meeting next week,” I said, trying to stay focused on work even though my mind was occasionally distracted by the realities at home.
While Clara and I discussed the proposal, I felt grateful to have a competent team. Everything that had happened at home yesterday had made me realize that support at work was also important.
“Is there anything I should do for the presentation?” I asked, trying to gather all my strength to do my best at work after also repairing my relationship with Emma yesterday.
“We can get input from the other team and have a short meeting to discuss it. I’ll schedule it,” Clara replied.
“Great, thank you, Clara. I appreciate it,” I said, feeling grateful for the good cooperation.
For the rest of the workday, I was determined to not only fix the situation at work but also to keep communication open with Emma.
I hoped that today was the beginning of our relationship moving forward, and I was excited to continue that effort.Download Novelah App
