Emma's POV
“Pretty busy. There are a few projects that need to be finished soon, but I’ve prioritized them all. And in the meeting, I felt more confident after talking to you this morning,” Logan replied, with a smile that made the tension between us feel even more distant.
“You’re always reliable at work. I’m proud to have a husband like you,” I replied, feeling the strength return to our relationship.
“And I’m proud to have a wife like you,” he said sincerely, his eyes sparkling. At that moment, I felt a strong bond reconnecting us.
With every mouthful and gentle word from Logan, I felt that despite the tension on the outside, there was also a strength within our relationship that was ready to be repaired. After all, we were a team in the face of any obstacle, both at work and at home.
Today may have started out difficult, but right now, I feel a strong sense of hope for our future. By supporting and understanding each other, I am sure we can get through anything that comes our way.
The next day, when I woke up, my head still felt dizzy and uncomfortable. The fatigue that hung over my body made it difficult for me to do activities. Finally, I decided to ask for permission not to go to work.
“Logan, I think I need to rest again. I want to ask for permission not to go to work today,” I said softly while he was having breakfast.
He looked at me attentively. “Okay, that’s the right decision. We can go to the doctor to check your condition,” he said, showing genuine concern.
After communicating with the children and making sure they were ready to go to school, Logan took me to the doctor. In the car, tension and worry still hung, but I knew that going to the doctor was a good step.
When we arrived there, we registered and waited for a while until our names were finally called. When we entered the practice room, a friendly doctor greeted us.
“Good morning! How can I help you today?” asked the doctor, looking at me with concern.
“I’ve been feeling dizzy for the past few days, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better,” I answered, trying to explain my symptoms as clearly as possible.
The doctor nodded and then started asking questions. “Are you experiencing nausea or vomiting? How’s your sleep? Are you experiencing any stress or other issues?”
“I feel a little nauseous sometimes, but it’s more of a headache and fatigue. My sleep isn’t too bad, but lately, it’s been a bit rough with a lot of things on my mind,” I answered honestly, relieved to be able to talk about it.
The doctor wrote it all down, then continued, “Have there been any changes in your routine or issues that are stressing you out?”
I looked at Logan for a moment before answering. “There’s been some issues at home, which may be bothering me.”
The doctor nodded. “Stress can trigger symptoms like yours. Let’s do some more testing to make sure it’s nothing serious. But we’ll figure out how to manage stress as well, as part of your treatment.”
Throughout the exam, I felt a sense of hope that this would all be resolved soon. I just want to feel better and get back to my normal activities, both at home and at the office.
After the examination was complete, the doctor gave me some advice and a prescription for medication to help relieve my symptoms. “Remember, it’s important to take care of your mental health. I recommend talking to someone close to you when stress starts to come.”
After the examination was complete, we went to the pharmacy to get the medication prescribed by the doctor. As we were looking for medication and discussing good things that could be done to improve our condition, suddenly my eyes were caught by a familiar figure.
It was Thea, Robert’s fiancé, my ex-fiancé. Seeing her there made my heart tremble. Her face looked cynical as if she wasn’t happy to see me. Even though we hadn’t been in touch since our breakup, her presence could still bring up complicated emotions.
“Are you sick? That’s good, maybe you’ll die soon,” Thea said in a mocking tone, her smile adding bitterness to her words.
Her words were sharp, and I felt my throat tighten. Even though I wanted to reply, the pain and dizziness that was already there made me unable to get the words out.
But before I could say anything, Logan suddenly stood up straight beside me. In an instant, he slapped Thea. “Slap!” The loud sound echoed through the pharmacy, drawing the attention of the people around.
Shock and tension filled the room. I had never seen Logan this angry before. “What right do you have to talk to her like that?” Logan shouted, his voice full of power. “She doesn’t deserve that!”
Thea looked shocked and even angrier than before. “You don’t know who I am!” she shouted, but Logan seemed unaffected by her anger.
“You don’t need to know anyone to see that you’re a bully!” Logan replied firmly, hands shaking but still managing his stamina.
I felt confused and shocked by this turn of events. “Logan, there’s no need…” I said, trying to defuse the situation, though deep inside I could feel his understanding.
Logan turned to me, still protective. “No, Emma. You don’t have to put up with such inappropriate words. I will protect you,” he said, his eyes looking at me with a deep sense of commitment.
Thea, still with an angry expression, turned her gaze to me. “You’re lucky to have this guy by your side. Hopefully, he can keep you protected,” she taunted before quickly leaving the pharmacy.
After that, the atmosphere in the pharmacy returned to calm, but my heart was shaking with various emotions. I didn’t like seeing Logan face such a situation, but on the other hand, I felt appreciated by the way he protected me.
“Emma, are you okay?” Logan asked, slowly taking my hand in his own with concern.
“Yeah, I’m okay,” I replied, although honestly, I was still a little shocked by what had just happened. Logan’s courage and his desire to protect me made me feel stronger, and I hoped this could be a positive step for our relationship going forward.
