Emma's POV
After my morning talk with Logan, I felt a little better, but the jealousy was still bothering me. Seeing Logan go looking for a gift for Scarlett with Clara, his secretary, without inviting me was painful. I should have been the one by his side, helping and enjoying the moment.
When I arrived at the office, I tried to distract myself and focus on work. However, when I met Matthew, my boss, it felt like all those emotions came back to the surface.
“Why do you look a little gloomy, Emma?” he asked, looking at me with genuine curiosity.
I tried to smile and shrug. “Oh, it’s nothing, Matthew. Just a little tired after the wedding party yesterday,” I replied, trying to cover up my true feelings.
But it seemed that Matthew wasn’t so sure. “You know, sometimes it’s better to talk about what’s bothering you. We’re all here to support you.”
I took a deep breath, feeling the urge to share, but on the other hand, I was hesitant. “Actually, I’ve been having a little problem with my husband,” I began, feeling moved to talk about it.
“What problem?” asked Matthew, concerned. “You can tell me. Sometimes talking about problems can help lighten the load.”
After a moment of hesitation, I finally decided to open up a little. “I feel jealous and neglected. Logan seemed very close to his secretary, and I was worried that it might be hurting our relationship.”
Matthew nodded, indicating that he was listening. “Jealousy is a natural feeling. What matters most is how you two communicate about it. Communication is key in a relationship, Emma.”
He was right. I knew that I needed to continue talking to Logan and address this issue head-on. “Thank you, Mattew. I’ll try to be more open with him about my feelings,” I replied, feeling a little relieved.
After talking to Mattew, I felt a little lighter, but I knew that there was still work to be done at home. I wanted to repair this relationship and rebuild the trust and love between Logan and me. I didn’t want this jealousy to get in the way of our happiness.
With that determination, I continued my work, but deep inside, hope for a better day began to grow.
As I was about to leave work, my head began to pound, and a headache came over me. It was hard to stay focused with all the emotions that had been overwhelming me for the past few days. I still had an hour left to finish my work, but my body just couldn’t seem to keep going.
With a heavy heart, I approached Mattew and asked permission to go home early. “Mattew, I’m not feeling well. Can I go home now?” I asked, hoping he would understand.
He stared at me for a moment, then nodded. “Sure, Emma. Take care of yourself. Don’t hesitate to rest if you’re feeling unwell,” he replied, and I felt a little relieved when he allowed me to leave.
When I arrived home, I felt the tension in my shoulders begin to grow. Not long after, the kids and Logan came home. When they entered, Logan immediately looked at me with concern.
“Why are you home early? What happened?” he asked in a worried tone.
I tried to smile to cover my feelings, but I knew Logan could see right through it. “Oh, I just feel a little under the weather and need some rest,” I replied softly, feeling tired and overwhelmed by the dizziness that was hitting me.
Logan came over and took my hand. “You don’t look good. Is there anything I can do to help? Maybe we can order takeout or make something light for you,” he said, showing the affection that had always existed between us.
“No, it’s okay. I just need some time to myself,” I said, trying to assure her that she didn’t have to worry too much about me right now. I knew we needed to talk and work out our differences, but that energy was hard to come by when my head was pounding like this.
Seeing the cheerful kids back home, I felt a little better. “Maybe you guys could help you father with dinner?” I offered, trying to stay positive.
The kids nodded enthusiastically, and I felt good about them. Logan stayed by my side, supportive without being intrusive, and his demeanor made me feel at ease even though the tension was still lingering.
“We’re making you some food, Mom,” Ainsley said, excited when she saw us in the kitchen. Her face lit up with joy, reminding me of how much this family together meant.
“Thanks, honey, that’s so sweet of you. But I can help—” I tried to offer.
“You guys should just stay in your room,” Logan said firmly, cutting me off gently. “We’ll take care of everything. Just focus on feeling better.”
Seeing Logan’s firmness and concern, I couldn’t refuse. Tiredness and dizziness were still enveloping me, and it seemed like the best thing I could do right now was to rest. “Okay, I’ll take a break. Thank you, kids. You guys are great!” I said, giving them a big smile.
I made my way to my room, feeling a little more at ease knowing that they would be taking care of dinner. I lay in bed for a moment, trying to calm my mind, which was still swirling with jealousy and tension between Logan and me. I knew we needed to talk, but right now, it might be best if I gave myself some space to reflect and calm down.
As I rested, the image of the children’s happy faces and Logan’s caring heart warmed my heart. Despite the obstacles we had to face, I knew that our strong love would get us through this.
A few moments later, I could hear the children’s laughter coming from the kitchen, creating a cozy atmosphere in the house. With everything we had been through, I knew that moments like this were the reason I didn’t want to give up on our relationship. We were all trying and fighting for each other, and in the end, that was what mattered most.
Today may not have been the best day, but I knew that with each other’s support, we could overcome any obstacle. As I looked at Logan, my hope for our relationship to improve was rekindled. It was time for us to find a way to support each other and find happiness again.
“Here’s your dinner,” Logan said, carrying a tray of food, a warm smile on his face as he entered the room.
Looking at the food, my stomach lurched even though my head was still spinning. “I can go down to the dining room,” I said, trying to offer to not bother him any further.
“I told the kids that I would stay with you in your room to eat since you’re not feeling well,” he explained, his eyes full of concern. “Do I need to take you to the doctor?” he asked in a concerned tone.
I saw the sincerity in his eyes, and despite my tiredness, my heart warmed at the concern he showed. “No, Logan. I just feel a little dizzy, and maybe I just need some rest,” I replied, wanting to reassure him that I was fine.
“Okay, but if your headache doesn’t get better, we should consider seeing a doctor.” He nodded, and I could feel the tension in his heart as he continued to worry.
“Thank you for caring and supporting me,” I said, realizing that despite the problems between us, his concern and affection were still there.
He smiled and sat down next to me on the bed. “Eat, and remember, you don’t have to feel burdened. We’re all here for you,” he said.
I took a sip of the food on the tray with a smile. The taste was satisfying and made me feel better. As we ate, we were able to chat more casually, and a glimmer of closeness began to form between us.
“Your cooking is pretty good,” I complimented, seeing Logan’s slightly surprised face at the compliment.
Logan laughed softly. “Ah, you’re just saying that so I don’t worry,” he said jokingly, but the look in his eyes showed that he was happy to hear my compliment.
“No, seriously! I do like your food. It really brightens the mood,” I replied, trying to reassure him. “I know you always try to make your family happy.”
He smiled and seemed to relax a little. “Okay, thank you. Sometimes, I do need to cook more,” he replied, realizing that I appreciated his efforts.
We continued our dinner in a warmer atmosphere. Each mouthful tasted more delicious as I felt better. In that small talk, I began to feel the tension between us slowly easing.
“So, how was your day at the office?” I asked, trying to make the conversation deeper and distract from my jealousy.Download Novelah App
