Chapter Twenty-five

Haig
Sitting on the long wooden chair while looking at the tall grasses. The bees that are flying close to their beehives that are hanging from the tree's branches. The wooden gate that had become weak and decayed after being there for a long time. The evergreen grass on our lawn and many other things around our house. Everything around me has aged. I too.
I realized that this curse is not just a simple thing that will just leave by volition–I really need to do something. I don't want to talk about where and how I got this curse. What I only want to think about is how to get rid of this curse. Though I don't want to trust Cain again, it cannot be removed from me that I need to trust him because he knew more about this curse than I did. He could help me get rid of the curse because he was powerful. He had told me that there was only one way to get rid of this curse. I don't know if I can really do this thing, because it was very difficult for me–my sins will become more.
Cain told me that the only way to get rid of this curse was to kill a hundred people. I don't know if I can get rid of this curse. It was hopeless, but I can try again. We cannot get everything that we want, but we can try.
"You need to decide quickly whether you are willing to sacrifice a hundred lives or not, because the curse has already decided that it will attack you at anytime," Cain said.
I know that it is true that the curse will suddenly attack without showing any signs, as I experienced before. It will attack me in every way that it wants to, and it will take a long time before it leaves me. Cain also told me that if the curse could control my whole body, it would not leave my body. I definitely need to move before it will attack me again and do its bad intentions. It's a virus that won't leave my body. It needs a vaccine to stop it from damaging my cells. I am still young enough to die because of this. I will survive for myself and for my family. There are many dreams that I need to achieve, but first I need to conquer this cruel curse.
"Are you really sure that there is no other way to get rid of it?" I asked.
"If there is one more thing to get rid of, but I am sure that you cannot do it, because the word "survive" is not part of it. If you only want to get rid of the curse, then kill yourself so that you can be free."
"You are right."
"Right? Would you kill yourself to get rid of it?" He's stupefied.
"Of course not. I want to conquer this curse and I don't want to die. If there is no other way–then I have no other choice, but to accept that I am destined to be a serial killer."
"Does that mean that you are willing to kill a hundred people to survive and to get rid of the curse?"
"Uh-huh," I replied briefly.
"Are you sure? Are you willing to sacrifice a hundred lives without any hesitation?" He barked again.
"It seems that you do not agree with my decision. If you don't want me to kill, then you did not put this curse on me, right?" I asked back.
"Exactly, I want to admit that it was the reason why I accidentally put you under that curse, because you can also help me go back to the place of spirits—by killing a hundred people," he admitted.
"Do you mean that the lives of people can help you go back to the place where you came from?" I asked.
"Their lives are the key to going back to the place of spirits. I will offer them to one of the most powerful demons and he will help me go back to where I came from. I swear to you that I will never go back to this world once I enter the place of spirit, I cannot trammel you again."
"Why won't you do the other way to go back to your place instead of trammeling me now?" I asked.
"Once you get rid of that curse, I can also go back to my place," he replied.
"But why did you put me under this curse if you knew that there was another way to go back to your world or the place of spirits from which you came from?" I asked.
"Don't you remember the reason why I put that curse on you? Because you told me that you want to be a superhero, because you don't want other children to bully you. At that time, I am thinking that there are many people who are oppressing you, and it will be easier if you kill those people, which can also help me get rid of the curse of the powerful spirit. By the way, that curse in you is not totally a curse. There are times that it can help you, just like the bluish cloud can bring you to other places if you want to. You just need to control it, because if you can't, it might bring you anywhere, just like inside the volcano, and you will just die and rest in peace," Cain explained.
His words made me realized that it was all my mistake. I don't need to blame Cain for everything, because he was just thinking that his decision could help both of us. It was me who was not thinking about what might happen before dealing with something. Everything was my mistake and I needed to fix it by myself.
What kind of curse is this? There are too many things that I need to know about it–though I only want to be free. I definitely want to give up now. Maybe it would be better if I ended my own life. Ending my life is definitely the best thing to do in order to get rid of this curse.
But I knew that nothing would happen if I just blamed myself all day. I had already blamed myself too many times before. It has already happened, and there is nothing better that I can do but solve my problem. If there is anything that can help me to get rid of and survive the curse, I am willing to do it. I don't need to think about my decision anymore because I have been thinking about it all day. Like what Cain said, if I don't make a decision quickly, the curse will attack me again and it won't hesitate to hurt other people.
I realized that it is better to kill a hundred people by my own hand than to curse thousands or more by this curse, because from what I have experienced, this curse is willing to kill anyone without any hesitation. If I am controlling myself, there are many bad people in this world, but I am telling that they deserve to die. I also realized that if the curse could control every part of my body, including my brain and heart, it might kill more than I needed to kill, because it would not leave my body anymore. There might be thousands, and more than that—it will kill all the people in this world—until there will be nothing left. This curse is not just a joke; it was drastically horrendous as it sometimes used dark magic to kill people. That is the reason why I have decided to kill hundreds of people rather than billions with this merciless curse.
"It seems that you are really sure of your decision, but it is not too late. If you don't want to get rid of that curse, you can still change your mind. It is not just a simple thing to do. There is a possibility of wrong things that might happen."
"You told me that the curse would attack me at anytime, so I don't need to think about it the whole day. It is just a time-consuming task, especially since there is a possibility that I will be able to control my body anymore."
"You are definitely a clever boy because you made a right choice and because of that, I will help you to search for someone who you could kill. Don't worry too much, if there is something wrong that could happen, because I am just here, I will help you in fighting for our freedom."
"Are you sure that you will be always there—not only in happiness, but also in times of sorrow?" I asked.
Cain did not answer me, but it seemed that his silence meant yes, so I did not ask him about it. He was going to hold my arm when I remembered my parents. They might have doubted where I was going.
"My parents will definitely doubt me if you bring me anywhere. You already know that they are so inquisitive."
"Don't worry about it. That already came to my mind, and there is not a possibility that your parents will notice the things that you are doing," he replied.
"How can you say so if even my mother has already doubted that there is something weird that is happening to me?"
"Just believe me and also believe that they will not notice it. Believe what you want and your belief will help create the fact."
"You are wrong. I had been believing that this curse would not last longer, but what happened is far from the truth. Now tell me why..." I had not finished my words when he suddenly raised his hand on the air. Just a second elapsed, and we were already in a place that I don't know. The climate here has changed. It is cooler in this place, while the place where I was born is a little warmer.
"Why did you bring us here? Don't you see that I am only wearing a shirt, trousers, and slippers?" I asked. I feel uncomfortable in this place because it was really cool. The cool breeze is chilling my thighs. There is fine weather in this place. There is no rain, no sleet, and no snow. Maybe it was because of the altitude. There is a cool air that is blowing in a hither and thither style. I could not even see what was ahead because of the fog. It seemed that heaven was going down the earth.
"Don't worry too much; don't you trust me?" Cain raised his hand and there appeared a thick, black coat and pants around my body. Cain is really powerful. He can change my clothes, but he also doesn't know what my size is. The thick coat seemed so heavy that I was loaded with one-half of a sack of rice, and the long pants were so loose that they were going to fall down if I did not hold it up. Cain is such a demon that he did not even put me in underwear.
"Hey, why won't you just change my clothes? This coat was so heavy, these long pants were so loose, and could you put me in underwear?" I complained.
Cain raised his hand in the air and the heavy coat and loose pants suddenly changed. It became worser than the clothes that he gave me. What kind of spirit is Cain? Is he a deaf? He did not even give me any clothes, except underwear.
I covered my hump with my hand and cried, "Hey! What kind of nincompoop are you? Give me back my clothes!"
"You told me that you don't have underwear. That's why I put you in underwear. Don't you want to wear that?" He replied. "If you don't want it, then I will just remove it," he continued.
Ingratiatingly, I really wanted to bury him in the underworld. He was so stubborn. My heart throbbed faster when he said that he was going to remove it if I did not want to wear this underwear. There is nobody who has seen mine since I was a baby except my parents. That is why I am not accustomed to wearing underwear only. It made me more irritated. I really wanted to kill Cain, though he was already a spirit.
"Please, give it back to me and I won't complain to you again. Just give it back!" I asked in a begging manner. I am now shuddering because of the cool air. "I am now shuddering. I will really kill you if you don't give it back!" I shouted.
He raised his hand and suddenly, my original clothes came back, but not my worn slippers, but boots with a yellow sole. I ran towards Cain and tried to give him a terrible punch.
"Just forgive me, look! I gave you back your clothes. Please don't be angry," he said.
"Why did you do that if you don't want me to become angry? Don't you know that there is no one who has seen mine [sic] before?" I chided them.
