Chapter 35:

Nathan stood in the center of the arena, the violet flame flickering gently around him. The power surged through his veins, a deep and ancient energy that felt unlike anything he’d ever experienced before. His body ached from the trial, but the strength he gained was undeniable.
The Guardian of the Violet Flame stepped forward, its glowing eyes fixed on Nathan. “You have proven yourself worthy, Nathan. The power of the flame is now yours to wield. But be warned—such power comes with great responsibility.”
Nathan nodded, still catching his breath. “I understand.”
The Guardian extended its hand, and the violet flame that had surrounded Nathan began to condense, shrinking down into a small, glowing orb. “Take this,” the Guardian said, handing Nathan the orb. “It is the essence of the Violet Flame. With it, you can summon the flame in times of need, but use it wisely. The flame’s power is not infinite, and it must be replenished through your will and determination.”
Nathan took the orb, feeling its warmth in his hand. “Thank you,” he said sincerely.
The Guardian’s gaze shifted to Doms and Zara, who were standing just beyond the arena’s edge. “Your friends are also strong. Their time will come to face their own trials, but for now, they will support you on this journey.”
Zara stepped forward, her staff glowing faintly. “Where do we go from here?”
The Guardian waved its hand, and the temple walls began to shimmer. Slowly, an image of the earth appeared, with three points glowing brightly. One of the points was where they currently stood—the mountains. The second point pulsed in the middle of a dense jungle. The third lay deep in the ocean, far from any land.
“Your next destination is the Jungle Temple,” the Guardian explained. “There, you will find the Guardian of the Earth’s Heart. Their power is tied to the natural forces of the world—strength you will need in the battles to come.”
Nathan stared at the map, feeling the weight of their journey once more. “How do we get there? It’s so far.”
The Guardian nodded. “The jungle is vast and dangerous, but the path will reveal itself if you trust the earth. Use the flame’s power to guide you, and you will find the way.”
Doms grinned, though his exhaustion was clear. “Looks like we’re heading to the jungle. Great, more walking.”
Zara rolled her eyes but smiled faintly. “We’ve been through worse.”
The Guardian stepped back, its form beginning to fade. “Go now, and be swift. The Violet King’s second wave approaches, and the power you gather will be your only hope.”
With those final words, the Guardian vanished, leaving Nathan, Doms, and Zara standing alone in the now-empty temple.
Nathan stared at the orb in his hand, the violet light reflecting off his gloves. “Let’s go.”
The journey out of the mountains was quicker than the climb up, though still difficult. With the Violet Flame in his possession, Nathan found that the cold didn’t bite as harshly, and the rough terrain felt easier to navigate. The flame seemed to protect them, providing warmth and light as they traveled.
They descended the mountain and soon found themselves back in the forest at the base of the peaks. The air was thick with the scent of pine and fresh earth, and the sounds of wildlife echoed through the trees.
“We should rest before heading to the jungle,” Zara suggested as they reached a clearing. “We’ve been pushing ourselves nonstop.”
Nathan agreed, and they set up a small camp. The violet flame orb hovered gently over their campfire, providing warmth without the need for wood or fuel.
As they sat around the fire, Doms leaned back and stared up at the sky, which had cleared since the storm. “So, what do you think this Earth Guardian is gonna be like? A giant tree? Some kind of talking animal?”
Zara smiled. “Who knows? But if they’re anything like the Violet Flame Guardian, they’ll be powerful.”
Nathan stared into the flame, his thoughts swirling. “The Guardians are strong, but so is the Violet King. We have to be ready for whatever comes next.”
Doms sat up and stretched. “We’ve come this far, man. We’ll figure it out. We always do.”
Zara nodded. “We’re a team. We’ve faced impossible odds before, and we’ll do it again.”
Nathan smiled at his friends. No matter how hard the road ahead was, he knew they would face it together. The trials ahead would be difficult, but with the Violet Flame’s power and the strength of their bond, they had a chance.
---
The next morning, they packed up and began their journey toward the jungle. The forest slowly gave way to denser, more tropical vegetation, and the air grew warmer and more humid. The sounds of wildlife became louder, and the ground beneath their feet turned from solid earth to soft, mossy terrain.
“We’re getting close,” Nathan said, checking the map again. The glowing symbols had shifted, pointing them deeper into the jungle.
As they pressed forward, the trees grew taller, their thick canopies blocking out most of the sunlight. The air was heavy with moisture, and the sounds of birds and insects filled the air.
“This place is alive,” Zara whispered, her eyes wide as she took in the dense foliage around them. “It’s like the earth itself is watching us.”
Nathan felt it too—the hum of energy that seemed to pulse through the ground. The jungle was more than just a place; it was a living, breathing force, and they were intruding on its territory.
“We need to stay focused,” Nathan said, keeping his eyes on the map. “The Guardian is somewhere ahead.”
As they moved deeper into the jungle, the ground began to shift beneath their feet. The once-solid earth became soft and unstable, as if the jungle itself was testing them.
“Great,” Doms muttered. “Now the ground’s trying to eat us.”
Zara tapped her staff against the ground, and a faint glow spread out from the point of contact. The earth seemed to respond, stabilizing just enough for them to continue walking.
“We’re close,” Nathan said again, his heart pounding with anticipation.
Finally, after what felt like hours, they reached a massive stone structure hidden deep within the jungle. Vines covered its walls, and the air around it buzzed with energy.
“This is it,” Zara said quietly. “The Temple of the Earth’s Heart.”
Nathan stepped forward, his gloves glowing faintly in response to the energy around them. “Let’s hope this Guardian is ready to help us.”
They approached the temple’s entrance, their hearts racing. The next trial awaited them—and with it, the power they needed to face the Violet King’s second wave.
