Chapter 37:

The dense jungle behind them seemed to settle after the collapse of the temple, the ground no longer rumbling under their feet. Nathan, Doms, and Zara stood there for a moment, catching their breath. The Earth’s Heart glowed faintly in Nathan’s hand, its energy coursing through him like a steady pulse.
“Two down, one to go,” Doms said, adjusting his hat. “And then it’s showdown time with the Violet King.”
Nathan looked at the green stone in his hand, then back at the map. The third and final glowing point hovered over a spot deep in the ocean, far from any land. “The last trial is underwater,” he said, frowning.
Zara studied the map over his shoulder. “How are we going to get there?”
Nathan shook his head. “I’m not sure yet, but we’ll figure it out. We always do.”
They began their journey out of the jungle, the path ahead stretching out long and uncertain. The weather was growing worse by the day, with dark clouds constantly gathering overhead. The world itself seemed to be shifting, as if in preparation for the coming storm. They knew the final battle was drawing closer.
Several days passed as they traveled toward the coast. The air grew cooler as they neared the ocean, and soon the sound of crashing waves filled the air. When they reached the shoreline, the sight that greeted them was nothing short of awe-inspiring.
The ocean stretched out endlessly before them, its surface dark and turbulent. Far on the horizon, a faint glow could be seen—the final destination, the place where the last trial would take place.
“How are we supposed to get out there?” Doms asked, squinting at the distant glow.
Nathan held up the Earth’s Heart, feeling its warmth in his hand. “We’ll have to trust the elements again. The power of the earth got us through the jungle; maybe it can guide us through the water too.”
Zara nodded, her staff glowing faintly. “There must be a way.”
As they stood on the shore, the ground beneath their feet trembled slightly, and suddenly, the water began to part. A narrow path of stone emerged from the ocean, stretching toward the glowing point on the horizon.
Doms’ eyes widened. “Well, that works.”
Nathan smiled. “Looks like the Earth’s Heart is helping us again.”
They stepped onto the stone path, carefully making their way across the ocean. The water roared and crashed on either side of them, but the path remained steady, leading them straight toward the final trial.
As they walked, Nathan couldn’t help but think about everything they had been through—the trials, the battles, the strength they had gained along the way. But he also knew that the hardest part was still ahead. The Violet King was waiting, and they would need every bit of power they had gathered to defeat him.
After what felt like hours, they finally reached the glowing point on the horizon. A massive, ancient temple stood before them, half-submerged in the ocean. Its walls were covered in coral and seaweed, and the water shimmered with an otherworldly glow.
“This is it,” Zara whispered. “The Temple of the Water’s Soul.”
Nathan stepped forward, his gloves glowing faintly in response to the energy around them. “Let’s hope the Guardian here is ready to help us.”
They entered the temple, the sound of rushing water filling their ears. The walls were lined with carvings of sea creatures and waves, and the floor was covered in a thin layer of water that rippled beneath their feet.
As they ventured deeper into the temple, the water grew deeper, rising up to their ankles, then their knees. Finally, they reached the center of the temple, where a massive pool of glowing blue water lay before them.
A figure emerged from the water—tall and graceful, with skin like the ocean itself and eyes that glowed a deep, calming blue. The Guardian of the Water’s Soul stood before them, its presence both serene and powerful.
“I am the Guardian of the Water’s Soul,” the figure said, its voice like the sound of waves crashing on the shore. “You have come seeking the power of the ocean, but only those who understand its depth and strength may receive it.”
Nathan stepped forward, his gloves glowing brightly. “We need your help. The Violet King is coming, and we don’t have much time. We’ve gathered the power of the flame and the earth, but without the ocean’s strength, we can’t stop him.”
The Guardian studied them for a long moment, its glowing eyes calm and steady. “The ocean is a force of nature, both gentle and fierce. To wield its power, you must prove that you understand its balance. Are you ready to face the trial?”
Nathan nodded. “We’re ready.”
The Guardian extended its hand, and the water in the pool began to rise, swirling around them in a powerful current. “Your trial will be one of endurance and understanding. The ocean will test your ability to remain calm and focused in the face of overwhelming force.”
The water surged upward, surrounding Nathan, Doms, and Zara in a swirling vortex. The current was strong, pulling them in different directions, but Nathan focused on the power within him—the strength of the earth, the heat of the flame, and now, the calming energy of the ocean.
He took a deep breath, closing his eyes and letting the water’s energy flow through him. Slowly, the current began to calm, and the water’s pull lessened.
“You have passed the trial,” the Guardian’s voice echoed through the chamber. “The power of the Water’s Soul is now yours.”
A glowing blue stone emerged from the water and floated toward Nathan. He reached out and took it, feeling its cool energy fill him.
“This is the essence of the Water’s Soul,” the Guardian said. “With it, you will have the strength of the ocean—the power to control the tides and withstand even the strongest storms.”
Nathan held the stone tightly, knowing that with this final power, they were ready to face the Violet King.
They emerged from the temple, the blue stone glowing softly in Nathan’s hand. The path across the ocean remained, leading them back to the shore.
As they walked, Doms grinned. “We’ve got all the powers. Now it’s time to take down the Violet King.”
Zara nodded, her expression serious. “The final battle is coming. We need to be prepared.”
Nathan stared out at the horizon, his heart steady. They had faced impossible odds before, and now, with the power of the flame, the earth, and the ocean, they had a fighting chance. But he knew the battle ahead would be their hardest yet.
“We’ll be ready,” Nathan said, gripping the blue stone tightly. “We have to be.”
The storm clouds overhead began to gather, signaling that the end was near. The Violet King was waiting, and the final battle was about to begin.
