Chapter 41:

A few weeks had passed since the defeat of the Violet King. Life in the city had slowly returned to normal. People were no longer living in fear of the meteors or violet-colored monsters. Nathan, Doms, and Zara had returned to school, and everything seemed peaceful again.
But as much as Nathan tried to settle into the routine of normal life, something felt different. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he, Doms, and Zara had changed forever. They had gone through something extraordinary, and now the world felt smaller somehow, quieter.
Sitting in his classroom, Nathan stared out the window, lost in thought. The day was sunny, and students were chattering around him, but Nathan’s mind was elsewhere. He thought about the stones, the battles, and the strange journey they had been on.
“Yo, Nathan,” Doms said, nudging him from the seat next to him. “You good? You’ve been spacing out for like ten minutes.”
Nathan blinked, snapping back to reality. “Yeah, sorry. Just thinking.”
Doms grinned. “About what? Our next big adventure? Because I’ve been thinking about that too.”
Nathan chuckled, shaking his head. “Not really. I mean, it’s weird, right? Going back to all this after everything we’ve been through.”
Doms shrugged. “I guess. But I kinda like it. I mean, we can finally chill for once.”
Zara, who sat a few rows ahead of them, turned around and smiled. “You guys realize we’ll never really be normal, right? We’ve done things most people wouldn’t believe.”
Nathan nodded. “Yeah, I know. But still, it’s nice to have a break.”
The bell rang, signaling the end of class. As they gathered their things and headed out into the hall, Nathan couldn’t help but glance at the sky again. Everything looked so peaceful now, as if the danger had never been there. But deep down, he knew that the world was different. They had changed it, even if most people didn’t realize it.
Later that day, Nathan, Doms, and Zara met up at their usual spot—a quiet park on the edge of town. It was a place where they had spent a lot of time before the meteors and their journey began, and now it felt like a fitting place to reflect on everything that had happened.
“I’ve been thinking,” Zara said as she sat down on the grass, her eyes thoughtful. “What if we were meant to find those stones? Like, what if this was always supposed to happen?”
Nathan sat down next to her, his gaze on the horizon. “Maybe. But I think it’s more than that. We found them because we were meant to use them. Now that it’s over, I think it’s time to move forward.”
Doms leaned back on his elbows, staring up at the sky. “Yeah, but moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting. We’ve still got those memories, those experiences. That’s not something you can just shake off.”
Nathan agreed. Their lives had changed forever, and even though the stones were gone, the power and responsibility they had felt still lingered inside them.
“I guess we just see what happens next,” Nathan said. “Life’s always gonna throw something new at us. But whatever it is, we’ll handle it.”
Zara smiled. “We always do.”
Doms sat up and grinned. “So, what do we do now? Go back to being normal, or do we keep looking for adventure?”
Nathan laughed. “Maybe a little bit of both.”
For the first time in weeks, Nathan felt a sense of peace. The battles were over, the world was safe, and for now, they could enjoy the quiet. But deep down, Nathan knew that adventure would find them again one day. And when it did, they would be ready.
As the sun began to set, casting the park in a warm, golden light, the three friends sat together, talking and laughing, knowing that no matter what came next, they would face it together.
It was the end of summer, and the air had a crispness that signaled the coming of fall. Nathan, Doms, and Zara had settled back into their lives, but the feeling of something unfinished still lingered for Nathan. It was as if their journey wasn’t fully over, even though the world seemed to be at peace.
One evening, Nathan received a strange message. It was from the same mysterious guy who had first told them about the meteors. The message was simple:
“Meet me at the portal. There’s one last thing you need to know.”
Nathan’s heart raced. He hadn’t heard from the man since their victory over the Violet King. What could he possibly want now?
Without wasting any time, Nathan called Doms and Zara. “We have to go back. The guy who told us about the meteors... he’s contacted me.”
Doms, always eager for another adventure, grinned through the phone. “Let’s do it! Meet you at the usual spot.”
Zara was more cautious. “Are you sure it’s a good idea, Nathan? What if this isn’t over like we thought?”
Nathan hesitated. “I don’t know. But we have to find out.”
They met at the old portal site—the place where everything had begun. The air was cool, and the sun was setting, casting long shadows over the forest. As they approached, Nathan saw the mysterious figure standing near the portal, his face obscured by the shadows, just like before.
“I knew you would come,” the man said, his voice calm.
Nathan stepped forward, his heart pounding. “What’s this all about? We defeated the Violet King. The world is safe now.”
The man nodded. “Yes, you saved the world. But there’s one more thing you need to understand.”
Doms crossed his arms. “What’s that? We’ve already returned the stones, we’ve done everything we needed to.”
The man looked at each of them carefully, then spoke. “The power of the stones wasn’t just given to you by chance. You were chosen because you have something inside of you—something rare. The power you wielded wasn’t just from the stones. It was always inside of you.”
Zara’s eyes widened. “What do you mean? We don’t have any powers without the stones.”
The man smiled slightly. “That’s what you think. But the stones only unlocked what was already there. Each of you has a unique gift, a power that was awakened during your journey.”
Nathan felt a chill run down his spine. “So, what happens now? Are we supposed to do something with these powers?”
The man shook his head. “No, not yet. For now, you can live your lives as normal. But one day, you may be called upon again. The world is always changing, and there will always be new threats. When that time comes, you’ll be ready.”
Doms looked skeptical. “So, we just wait around for something to happen?”
The man chuckled. “Not exactly. Live your lives. Be who you are. But remember that you have a responsibility, a connection to the world that few others have.”
Nathan didn’t know what to say. It was a lot to take in. He had always thought that their powers came from the stones, that once they were returned, everything would go back to normal. But now it seemed like their journey had only just begun.
The man turned to leave, but before he disappeared into the shadows, he looked back at them one last time. “This is not the end. It’s only the beginning.”
As the mysterious man vanished, Nathan, Doms, and Zara stood in silence for a moment, letting the weight of his words sink in. They had thought their adventure was over, but it seemed like the future held more surprises than they had imagined.
“So... what now?” Zara asked, her voice quiet.
Nathan looked at his friends, a small smile tugging at his lips. “We live our lives. But we don’t forget what we’ve been through. And if we’re ever needed again, we’ll be ready.”
Doms nodded, grinning. “Well, at least we know things won’t be boring.”
Zara smirked. “Yeah, normal life never lasts long for us.”
As they walked away from the portal, the last traces of sunlight disappeared over the horizon, and the stars began to twinkle in the sky. The world was at peace—for now—but Nathan knew that whatever the future held, they would face it together.
Their journey wasn’t over, but for now, they could rest. And when the time came, they would rise to the challenge once more.
Together.
The End.
