Chapter 38: Couple Taking A Walk Together

Early on the fifth day of the new year, Erina put on makeup, dressed beautifully, then happily walked down the stairs and entered the dining room.
In the first few days of spring, because Hubert still kept the old tradition, she and Henry stayed home to spend time with their family. The three of them ate, watched TV, and slept, repeating this for four days.
“Please allow me to go out with Fayre.” She asked Hubert in a low voice.
“Finish your breakfast and then go.” He said kindly.
Erina nodded slightly, walked over, and pulled up a chair to sit down. Because she was so excited, she forgot that on the morning of the fifth day, she had to eat dumplings for good luck according to custom.
After swallowing the first dumpling, she put her hand on the plate to get another dumpling and accidentally touched Henry's hand. Both suddenly looked up at each other. He smiled, and pulled his hand back, winking to signal her to take it first.
Ever since the day Henry caught Erina and Clement having fun at the barbecue restaurant, he had secretly assumed that Fayre was just pretending to pick her up to avoid suspicion, but in fact, Fayre was the bridge for her and Clement to secretly date.
When Erina felt her stomach was full, the phone suddenly rang. She quickly stood up, bowed to Hubert, and ran out of the house. Henry also hurriedly ran after her. Because he was too hasty, he kicked the table leg.
Hubert could only shake his head in frustration when he saw his clumsy son holding his leg and hopping around a few times. With his appearance like that, it was no wonder he couldn't seduce his wife.
“Where are you going?” Hubert asked.
“I have an appointment with my friend.” Henry answered while tiptoeing.
When the big gate opened, Erina saw Mei standing next to the bell. Erina guessed that she had just arrived.
Seeing Henry's fiancée dressed beautifully, with red lips and rosy cheeks, her hair tied up high, Mei immediately looked at the red car parked nearby and slightly raised her lips.
“I thought you were dating Clement, but it turns out that's not true.”
“I have a lot of friends to date. Don't chase someone all day because it will make him bored with you.” Erina smiled and replied gently.
Mei opened her mouth but before she could continue speaking, Erina walked across the street and sat in the car.
Mei suppressed her anger and quickly returned to the driver's seat. When the front of her car just passed the gate, it almost hit the expensive car that was rushing out, so both she and Henry quickly braked.
Seeing that the person holding the steering wheel was Henry, Mei immediately jumped out of the car, ran next to him, and signaled him to lower the windshield.
“Where are you going, Henry? I came to wish you and your father a happy new year.”
“My father is in the house. Please step aside so I can drive out.” Henry urged.
“But where do you want to go? Who do you want to meet?” Mei asked.
“I have a meeting with friends. What's up?” He frowned, looking annoyed.
Hearing Henry say that, Mei immediately asked him to take her with him.
He had known her feelings for him for a long time, instead of being grateful, he felt annoyed. Okay, if she likes it, he will satisfy her, take her along to stalk Erina so she can understand what that feeling is like to see if she still wants to follow him next time.
“You drive into the yard and sit in the same car with me.”
After saying that, Henry quickly pulled up the windshield and moved the car to the side. Mei was delighted and hurriedly did as he said.
She didn't expect today's harvest to be so big. She was imagining how surprised her classmates would be when they saw her getting out of Henry's car.
Although there was still a bit of winter chill left, the bustling spring atmosphere throughout the streets and alleys made the weather warmer. The bright lanterns, red couplets, and pots of golden kumquat trees decorated the season of love more passionately. Fayre turned to look at Erina and burst into laughter.
“Oh, look at my friend's face, she's about to meet her lover so she's as fresh as a flower.”
“Uh. One day, when you meet your true destiny, you will understand.”
As soon as Erina finished speaking, the smile on Fayre's lips suddenly disappeared. The memory of that unforgettable night three years ago overwhelmed her mind, making her hatred for her powerful father even greater.
“Fayre, you... what's wrong with you?” Erina hesitantly spoke when she saw the face of the person beside her suddenly darken.
“Ah. I'm jealous of Clement. You should be hanging out with me, but now I'm about to give you to him.”
Fayre quickly found an excuse to cover up the unusual appearance. She had never told Erina about that embarrassing thing because she knew that this friend was very old-fashioned, afraid that she would be shocked.
“Then let's go together.” Erina eagerly suggested.
“No. I don't want to be a light bulb. You have to make it up to me another day. If sisters go together, why do men follow?”
After saying that, Fayre laughed with delight. Erina shook her head and smiled. It seemed that her best friend had a good memory.
After passing through several streets, Fayre stopped the car in front of the gate of the largest park in J province, where the spring festival was taking place.
Erina looked at the bustling crowd and quickly found a familiar figure waving at her. After thanking her friend, she quickly opened the car door, got out, and ran towards Clement. The happy couple held hands tightly and walked inside.
Squeezing through the bustling crowd and immersing themselves in entertainment activities, the two of them felt like they were returning to their childhood. They temporarily forgot all worries and hatred and enjoyed the happy moment together.
After watching the lion dance, stilt walking, and singing and dancing, Erina pulled Clement towards the big lake.
“Clement, let's go over there to watch the boat race.”
When the two of them arrived, Erina excitedly joined everyone in clapping and cheering for the teams participating in the boat race.
When Clement saw the girl beside him, who looked like a child who had been locked up for a long time and had just been released from her cage, he felt that she was both pitiful and funny.
Thinking about the fact that in the future she would have to face the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter alone in a foreign land, he couldn't help but feel sad.
The meticulously built diamond-shaped dragon boats were rushing forward with all their might, and the sound of horns, drums, and cheers echoed everywhere.
Seeing the red team's boat had passed the blue team's boat, Erina happily held Clement's hand.
“Clement, tell me, will the blue team or the red team win?”
“I think the red team will win. And you?” Clement spoke softly.
“I also think the red team will win.”
She quickly replied, her eyes still focused on the two leading boats, her hands clasped together and placed on her lips, waiting anxiously.
In the end, the dramatic race ended with the blue team winning, causing him and her to only look at each other and laugh. It seems that predicting the outcome of a competition is never easy, everything can change at the last minute.
Late in the afternoon, Clement took Erina to a nearby food court to buy food. The two of them enjoyed the food from one stall to another, happily and attentively caring for each other, not knowing that behind them there was a man and a woman who were attentively observing their every move.
Mei's face was gloomy, she looked at Henry then at Erina and Clement. If she had known that he would drag her along to spy on those two, she would have rather stayed home.
Her white feet were rubbed back and forth by the high heels, causing them to swell and cause her pain. Her stomach was hungry, sweat was dripping, and her hair was as messy as a clown.
“Let me go there and say hello to them.”
Mei angrily struggled to get out of Henry's hand, but as soon as she took a step, he grabbed her and dragged her straight to the parking lot.
“Henry, why didn't you tell me before you were spying on her?” She sat down on the seat, looking sulky.
“You regret going with me, right?”
After the cold question, Henry stepped on the accelerator and rushed out of the gate, driving like he was flying on the road. Mei was scared and held her seat belt tightly, not daring to say a word.
Luckily, everyone was gathered at the entertainment areas, so the streets were empty and deserted, otherwise, her heart would have fallen into her stomach.
It wasn't until Henry suddenly braked, causing Mei to wobble, that she realized that he had brought her back to the villa.
“Get out of the car quickly.” Henry spoke, his face cold and emotionless.
“Henry, where else are you going? Let me…”
“Get out of the car quickly if you don't want to go back to the park.”
His voice sounded as if he was trying to chase Mei away, hurting her. Her eyes were red and watery. Reaching out to open the car door, she quickly jumped out and stood watching until the car disappeared.
This morning, when she heard Henry refused to attend the class reunion with his friends, she immediately came to see him. Unexpectedly, he lied about attending a class reunion, but the result suddenly turned into spying on that couple. He was not suffering enough alone, he dragged her along to suffer the same fate.
She looked down at her pitiful blistered feet and burst into tears. Obviously, she also ate dumplings before leaving the house, why was she so unlucky?
Seeing Mei limping in, Lucia and the maids were all worried for her. When she climbed into the young master's car in the morning, she looked very happy, but now her gait suddenly resembled a semicolon.
