Chapter 43: Unfinished Plan

Fayre woke up when the alarm clock rang for the third time. After yawning, she groggily got out of bed and crawled into the bathroom to wash her face.
Besides her passion for becoming a doctor, shopping was her second passion. Although she had visited more than ten fashion shops with Erina a few days ago, she still wanted to continue.
After locking the door, Fayre left the apartment, got out of the car, and drove to the largest shopping center in province J, where shopping enthusiasts like her often frequent.
After walking around a few times and choosing quite a few clothes and accessories, Fayre was satisfied and prepared to return.
Suddenly, she saw an eye-catching embroidered scarf hanging in the next stall, so she quickly stopped by. While she was admiring it, she suddenly heard a man's voice behind her.
“It's summer now, and Miss Fayre is buying a scarf?”
Fayre turned her head and gasped when she saw in front of her a unique skull named Vincent grinning. Honestly, she thought he wouldn't scare people if he didn't show his teeth.
“Hello Vincent, are you going shopping too?”
“No, our team is investigating a case so we came here to collect information.” He replied softly.
“Oh. I thought you were a traffic policeman. The other day…” She hesitated.
“Because we were at the scene nearby and witnessed the accident, we immediately handled it to clear the road. The uniforms are different.”
“So that's it. I didn't pay much attention. Oh, I was planning to buy this for winter. I liked it so I wanted to buy it because I wasn't sure if there would be a model that suited my taste in the future.” Fayre smiled, caressing the silk scarf.
Vincent nodded, took the scarf next to him, wrapped it around his neck, looked in the mirror, and asked her if it suited him.
Seeing the man's appearance, Fayre couldn't help but laugh. And very naturally, she offered to help him.
Being proactively offered help by the beauty, he was overjoyed, quickly took off the scarf, and gave it to her.
Her slender fingers straightened the scarf and then gently wrapped it around the man's shoulders, performing the simplest classic The City Slicker scarf tying style, looking neat, unfussy, and easy to do.
“Done.” She carefully adjusted the two ends of the scarf to be equal and spoke.
At this moment, the alarm bell suddenly rang. Immediately, the whole building was in an uproar.
Fayre was so frightened that before she could see where the fire was coming from, she quickly grabbed the scarf and pulled Vincent to follow her to escape.
The saleswoman was surprised and screamed, partly because she didn't know if there was a fire or not, and partly because the two people hadn't paid yet but had disappeared, just like robbers in broad daylight.
But when she saw bags of famous brands being thrown in front of her stall, she understood that they were so scared that they ran away.
The evil scarf tightened around Vincent's neck, making him feel like his head was about to be separated from his neck. His face turned purple, trying to catch a few strands of air to put into his lungs to save his life but could not.
It was not until the building's technician announced the incident on the loudspeaker, calling for everyone to calm down that Fayre finally stopped, let go of the scarf, and gasped for breath.
Looking back at Vincent, she almost fainted because she saw his pathetic appearance. He knelt on the floor, opening his mouth to catch his breath.
“Oh... Mr. Vincent, you... what's wrong with you?” She stuttered.
Vincent said nothing, waved his hand, took off his scarf, put it in Fayre's hand, signaled for her to return it to the seller, and then staggered away. It strangled him so much that he almost stuck out his tongue, so he decided to stop buying it.
Fayre stood silently and watched him, regret filling her heart. She didn't mean to hurt him, just because she was haunted by the fire on the yacht in the past through Erina's story, so she was always scared every time she heard the fire alarm go off.
Returning to the store, Fayre paid for both scarves and then carried the bags to the car. As soon as she sat in the driver's seat, she suddenly remembered something important, she took out her phone and called Erina.
The phone rang continuously but no one answered. Fayre was so impatient that she bit her lip. After several encounters, she knew that Vincent and Henry had a rather close relationship.
She was afraid that in a moment he would contact Henry and talk about what happened earlier, and everything would be revealed. She should have been with Erina at the beach right now.
“Erina, Erina, why do you throw your phone away every time you're near him? I have harmed you.” She grimaced and groaned.
Because Fayre mentioned Erian's name so much, at this moment, on the beach, she sneezed continuously until her face turned red.
“Are you cold?” Clement looked at his lover worriedly.
“Maybe someone mentioned my name.”
She smiled mischievously, continuing to lean on his arm. Together they left their footprints along the long white sand and listened to the wind blowing through the green casuarina trees.
How wonderful the sunset on the sea is, the last rays of the day falling into the sea seem to want to sink the sky deep into the waves, creating a surreal, romantic but equally majestic beauty.
In the dazzling scene of the sunset, the unfortunate lovers embraced each other and gave each other a passionate kiss. Two hearts beat in unison, ringing out the melody of an endless love song.
“What's wrong with you?” Clement asked in disappointment when he saw Erina suddenly push him away.
“I... I can't breathe.” She bowed her head shyly.
Seeing Erina's embarrassed and apologetic appearance, Clement could only smile. Because she was so adorable, it was hard for him to control his emotions and kiss her too deeply.
Pulling her into his arms, he gently stroked her long hair that fell over her thin back. The beauty of the sunset was hard to describe in words, and so were his feelings for her. The three words “I love you” could not express all his feelings.
“Erina, take good care of yourself when you get there.”
“Don't miss me too much, you'll fall ill.”
Erina spoke softly, her sparkling tears breaking and wetting her beautiful face. In the past year, the time they met each other only a few times made him miss her so much that his body was exhausted, let alone two years.
Saying goodbye to the afternoon sea, he and she held hands and returned to the hotel. They only have tonight left to be together. Tomorrow, when the sun rose, they would part ways. She would return to that villa and prepare to go abroad, while he would continue with his busy work.
When Erina was preparing to change clothes to go out to eat, she suddenly heard the phone ringing in her bag. She quickly put her hand in and searched.
When she saw Fayre's name on the screen, she suddenly had a bad feeling. As soon as she picked up the phone, a high-pitched female voice rang out on the other end of the phone.
“Oh my god, don't use your phone anymore. Do you know how many times I called you?”
“I'm sorry. Because I was walking on the beach, I didn't bring my phone with me. But...what happened?” Erina asked urgently.
Fayre immediately told Erina what happened at the mall and urged her to return quickly before it was too late.
“Erina, if Henry asks why Vincent only saw me at the mall, you should say that you were too tired from swimming in the sea so you came to my house to rest instead of going shopping with me.” Fayre enthusiastically helped her best friend find a way to defend herself.
Next to Erina, Clement stood silently, attentively observing his girlfriend's expression. Although he didn't know the content of the call, she looked worried so he also felt uneasy.
“What's the matter?” He asked as soon as she hung up the phone.
At this moment, Erina saw Lucia's urgent message. She thought that Vincent must have told Henry, causing him to fall ill and become like this.
She was worried that if Henry used his life to put pressure on Hubert, forcing his father to keep her and force her to have a wedding with him, she would surely die.
“Clement, please take me home immediately. Fayre went to the shopping mall and met Vincent. He probably told Henry because Lucia texted that Henry had a high fever, was lethargic, and wasn't eating or drinking anything.”
Clement nodded, patted her shoulder, and then quickly packed his luggage. The worry on her delicate face suddenly made his heart ache.
Even though he knew that when the two of them grew up together and that boy was taken care of by her every meal and sleep, of course, there would be feelings, he was still afraid, he was afraid that the feelings she had for Henry were not simply the feelings of an older sister for her younger brother.
The sun completely disappeared, and countless sparkling night stars appeared in the dark sky. The night dew began to fall, wetting the long, winding road that was brightly lit along the shore.
Erina pursed her lips and looked out into the vast space. She felt so regretful. Her happiness with him on the last day was not complete. Her tears fell silently, she couldn't open her mouth to talk to him anymore, she kept missing the past.
Clement took the fragile hand of the person beside him and squeezed it tightly. He hoped that his warmth could soothe the turmoil in Erina's heart. The little girl had to endure too much pressure. And he, a strong man, could not shield her from the stormy sky.
The colorful lights of the coastal town gradually receded, leaving only lonely yellow lights illuminating the deserted road. The drizzle left a few blurred water streaks on the car windows. Rain is just rain or is the sky shedding tears, crying for love with so many sorrows?
Arriving at the gate of the villa, Clement dropped her off and left in sadness. The night has not yet ended but the lovers have already quickly separated.
Many years ago, he accidentally looked into her eyes and then the intoxication followed him and tormented him for nearly half his life.
