Jonathan sighed, observing his little fiance from a distance. "I-It moved!" Stefani's face looked horrified again. She was wearing a farmer's set of clothes, a hat, and a pair of black farmer boots and gloves. "It's an earthworm," one of the kids, Emerald, age six, told her. Stefani looked scared as she distanced herself from the creature, "W-What is that thing doing there?!" "It's for fertilizer. It makes the soil healthy for plantation. Right, Big sis?" Emerald said as she asked her older sister beside her. How is that even possible? Aren't earthworms the ones that eat the growing plants and ruin their health? Stefani thought to herself. However, she was wrong about it since the ones she was thinking about were the bugs and pests that destroyed the plants. They were, in no way, resembling the helpful earthworms she saw today. For Stefani, as long as the creatures look small but are ready to attack her, she would consider them as deadly monsters. Oh, Stefani, those earthworms can't harm you at all. "Are you sure you can do it?" The older sister, Ruby, age 20, asked with a bit of irritation on her face as she looked at Stefani from top to bottom. She believed people, regardless of gender, who don't know how to plant were useless. "O-Of course! I can do it!" Stefani said as she tried to place another set of fertilizer into the soil. Jonathan's helping the other men with his physical strength, fetching water for the people here. Stefani on the other hand can't even properly place the fertilizers in the soil without screaming. Ruby shook her head, "You're doing it wrong. It should be like this..." She began to teach Stefani from the beginning again. The poor city girl only had to watch and learn quietly. Ruby seemed to have quite a temper. More than the always grumpy Stefani herself. Worried and pitying the younger, Jonathan was about to take a step to take Stefani's task when a hand touched his arm. He turned and found Mrs. Hill, Ruby and Emerald's mother. "You shouldn't spoil your wife too much. How can she learn if you keep taking her tasks? How can she do anything?" Mrs. Han commented, making a sour face while shaking her head as she watched Stefani jump and squealed again from a distance. Jonathan exhaled, "I'm sorry for making trouble, Mrs. Han." Jonathan bowed, ashamed of his little fiancee screaming here and there while also trying to understand what the older woman just said. It was true that Stefani should learn how to do things on her own but still, Jonathan couldn't make the voice disappear inside him that profusely screamed of taking all Stefani's tasks and never let her do anything that would only tire her out because surely Jonathan would always be there to do them for Stefani. The younger didn't need to have dirt or calluses on her hands. Jonathan was willing to do all the work for her. For the next few days, it became annoying for other people as Jonathan would try to help Stefani almost every time and every task of the day. It was as if Jonathan was treating Stefani as a handicapped person and it became too obvious to the point even Stefani started to be annoyed too. "You should stop this," Stefani said with a hard voice, once when Jonathan was taking the seeds from Stefani's hands while they were trying to plant squash. "Stop what?" Jonathan asked, almost nonchalantly, as he did what the elder farmer instructed them what they needed to do. "Stop taking everything that's been assigned to me!" Stefani shouted, fuming as she glared at Jonathan. "What's wrong with me helping you? You don't know how to do this anyway," Jonathan replied, thinking how he was just trying to make things easier for Stefani. However his words only made Stefani's blood boil even more. "I didn't ask you to help me!" "You scream all the time. What do you expect me to do?!" Even Jonathan couldn't help but argue back. "Who said I need your help?! I can do it myself!!" "Why are you so stubborn?" "You're the stubborn one here! Stupid monkey!" The two kept fighting in the middle of the plantation as other farmers shook their heads, sighing as they somehow had gotten used to the sight. Everyone knew Jonathan and Stefani were married and that they got lost while having a honeymoon in a resort near the province. It wasn't also a secret that Jonathan extremely cares for his fiancee as he was always seen accomplishing all their tasks, even Stefani's share. It became a daily occurrence and they knew the two would fight and make up after a few hours. Today though, it was different. "Why are you so stubborn? Just let me do everything. You can't do anything right without me anyway," Jonathan said, eyebrows knitted together as he stared at Stefani. Somehow, he couldn't keep his cool whenever he was with Stefani. "This is why I hate you so much..." Stefani muttered, eyes now looking down. Jonathan felt a stab on his chest upon hearing the word he thought he'd never hear again. He took a sharp breath, "Stefani..." Without a word, Stefani turned and started walking away with heavy steps. Jonathan kept calling the younger but she didn't turn and soon Jonathan could only watch as the younger ran towards the Hills Residence, Ruby and Emerald's house. "Sigh," a voice startled Jonathan from behind. He turned and found the uncle who often goes with him in fetching water. "You really did it this time," a breathy sigh came out from the uncle's mouth. He was shaking his head as he watched the obviously still fuming other half of Jonathan. "What did I do?" Jonathan raised his eyebrows. He was only trying to help Stefani, just what did he do to make the other upset again? Uncle Brown, that was his name, gave out a grimace. He stared at Jonathan from top to bottom, exhaled then left Jonathan wondering what he did.
