"Can you throw that face of yours?" Mavin commented. "You have been frowning since you woke up this morning. What the hell is wrong with you?" He added, complaining.
She is clearly avoiding me.
She even did not come today with Grandma.
I obviously told her not to worry about it last night, but Sunny is Sunny. She will definitely think of it as if it is the hardest problem in this world."
Mavin." I called my brother.
"What?" He asked.
"How did you know she was your mate?" I asked him.
His forehead creased. "There are many ways in which you can find your mate. You can tell by just seeing her that it's like love at first sight. You can also tell by her scent and by your guts. Why are you asking?"
"I told you before that I saw my mate before, right?" I asked again instead of answering his question.
He nodded. "You did, but when I asked who she was and where she was, you did not bother opening your mouth after. You just told me and left me stressed about it. What about it?" He asked again.
"Do not dare leave me and my questions unanswered again. I will not let this slide!" He complained afterward.
I sighed.
"But why am I liking somebody that is not her?" I asked.
His annoyed expression turned to a shocked one. His eyes widened and his mouth was wide open.
"What are you saying?" He asked and approached me. "Who is it? Tell me. Is it Sunny?"
I quickly covered his mouth.
"Lower down your voice! Grandma might hear you." I stopped him.
He removed my hands away from his mouth. "Am I right? It is Sunny? I knew that would happen." He said.
"How did you know? How can you tell easily that it was her I am talking about?" I asked back.
Am I that obvious?
"Do not kid me. You and Sunny are too close. You guys are always together. She is the only woman you would like to go out with. Who would wonder? I guess if you ask your friends, they will say the same thing." He replied.
"But does she feel the same thing? Are you sure that she moved on from her boyfriend?"
"Ex-boyfriend." I corrected.
"Okay. Ex-boyfriend. You might get hurt if she's still caught up with that ugly, stupid man." He said.
"I don't think she's still caught up with that man." I answered.
His eyebrows got up. "How can you say so? Where did you get that confidence?" He replied.
"After what he did to her, I do not think Sunny will think of that anymore." I shared.
Mavin sat beside me. "What happened? Is that why she is not here today?" She asked again. "I hate you for being so quiet. You keep the stories to yourself." He complained again.
I told him what happened yesterday. Every detail from the morning until I got home. I did not leave any information.
"That bastard. I am sure I will make him pee his pants. How dare he hurt our Sunny?" Mavin said, gritting his teeth. "I want to use him as the food for the bad werewolves we have." He added.
I nodded in return.
Even I want to devour him, but I do not think he is yummy at all."
What about Sunny? When are you going to tell her your feelings?" He suddenly asked.
"I think she has an idea about it already. We already held hands, and if she still does not get it, then I have to tell her directly. Since she came from heartbreak, I do not want to make her confused. I want to take it slowly." I explained my side.
I know myself, and I even told her ugly, stupid ex-boyfriend that they had ended their relationship for months already. But, I think Sunny is still not ready to commit to a relationship.
I understand that and I respect that.
"I have never seen you act like this before." Mavin said. "I guess going here is not bad at all. Actually, we are letting you decide what you want to do. We want what makes you happy, and here you are." He added.
I glared at him. "Why do I feel like you are treating me as if I am a kid?" I retorted.
He sways his forefinger. "And so? I need to tell mom and dad this. I will also update your friends since you do not share those with them. I bet they will be happy to hear this." He replied.
"I should have recorded what you said."
"Argh. They might not believe me. Even I can't believe it myself."
"What did Sunny even see in you? You are cold, you do not talk that much, and you are not kind at all. You even treat me as if I am not your older brother. I should tell Sunny that she needs to think carefully." He added.
"Can you just shut up? I do not want to hear anything from you." I replied.
He was about to walk away when he stopped in the middle and walked back in front of me.
"What now?" I asked.
"I forgot to ask you this. How about our secret? Would she be okay with it? I know she is kind, but we might shock her, as well as her family." He said. "You need to be ready for that too. We are not like them." He added.
He is right.
Even though I will choose to keep our secret at first, the day will come when our secret will be out.
I am afraid of that thought, and that's what got me hospitalized for days. I hate it.
"I-I still do not know how to tell her about us." I told him honestly. "I am afraid she might avoid me." I added.
"But I still believe what she said before. So there is no fear of trying. It must be hard, but I think it will work out. Save your courage, then tell her." Mavin suggested.
I nodded.
"I will." I answered. "Thank you." I told him my gratitude.
"I am your brother! It's my duty to help you no matter what." He said proudly.
I guess I can talk to him sometimes.
