CHAPTER 52
Sunny
"Are you really sure that you are fine now?" Steven asked for the nth time. "You do not feel dizzy at all or not?" He asked again.
I just want to avoid him.
He has been asking me these since a while ago.
"Sunny, answer me. I am asking you here." He added.
I stopped sweeping the floor and turned to him. The moment I faced him, our eyes locked, and he was not even budging.
I sighed. "Steven." I called out to him.
"Yes? Would you like to answer my questions now?" He answered and fired a question right after.
I pointed at my head and slid it down. "As you can see, I am walking fine and am able to do everything now. I would not be here if I was still not okay." I told him. "I also told you that I was fine before we started cleaning, and here you are asking me again and again." I added.
"So you are complaining about it?" He asked back, or rather, I would say he sassed back. "I am worried. Can't I be one?" He asked this time.
"You can be worried, Steven. There is no one stopping you, but you have been asking me this nonstop. You are disturbing my work. I have not been able to clean this floor for days, and I need to clean it better. I do not want to get my salary by slacking." I explained my side.
"Tss." He complained. "I am worried about you and here you are, saying that kind of lame excuse that I do not even want to hear." He said.
Now that I know about his feelings, I can't ignore these changes in him. He is more caring now.
All I want to do is clean their house peacefully. How can I clean when this young man is standing in front of me, standing like a model, asking about my well-being?
If this is our house, I would run to my room and stuff my mouth with something to suppress my thrill. I can't look the same to him now. I am embarrassed and shy in front of him. I have this urge to look at myself in the mirror and see if I look good or not.
I do not want to face him looking like a mashed potato.
"I am really fine." I told him. "Do not worry too much. I won't faint here, I can assure you that." I added and could not help but beam a smile at him. "Thank you for worrying, Steven."
He smiled back. "Go back to cleaning now." He answered.
I nodded, "Just do what you need to do." I responded.
"Yeah, I will just stand here and watch you clean." He replied, and that made my jaw drop. "I need to see whether you are really cleaning the house or if you are just slacking. So that I can complain to Grandma and I will have evidence by taking photos." He added and waved his phone at me.
I glared at him. "I can now see your wicked side, Steven." I commented. "Just read or watch a drama in your room. You are just distracting me from my work here." I told him.
"I do not have any books that I can read now. I read them all since I could not watch the drama we were watching because you are still sick." He answered calmly.
I went to the stairs and tried to look for his brother, then I saw Mavin walking out of the kitchen.
"Mavin! Steven is disturbing my work here. Can you please move him away from here for now?" I told Steven to his brother.
Mavin laughed. "Look who is being clingy now?" He said. "I think he is going to ride on your back next time. Steven clingy era. I can't believe this." He added, as he laughed in between.
"So what?" He retorted. "I will do what I want." He added, still not turning down his plan to watch me as I cleaned.
"What do you want me to do?" I asked him.
"What?" he asked back.
"I said, what do you want me to do? For you to sit back and relax, and let me do what I need to do." I repeated and explained what I was trying to tell him.
His left eyebrow arched, "Would you want to watch the drama with me later after work?" He said. "We will just watch two to three episodes since you can't sleep late." He added.
I nodded. "Okay, let's do that. You should do what you need to do for now. I won't be able to clean here if you are here. You are a big distraction, standing there like a model. You are making me feel embarrassed." I'll admit it.
The corner of his lips arched. "If you say so, then I will head to my room for now. Make sure to knock on my door after you finish." He replied.
"I will. Do not worry." I answered.
He walked towards his room. After I made sure that he was in his room now, I gently tapped my chest. "Stop beating wildly. Do you want him to hear you beating like crazy here?" I asked my heart, which has not stopped beating since the moment we talked. "Let's not dare cause any embarrassment, okay? Just this once. Let's not make a fool of myself. I want to look decent too." I complained, almost pleading not to make a fool of myself in front of him.
"Let's just act normal. You can do this, Sunny." I added, boosting my confidence again.
After talking to myself, I went back to cleaning. I made sure I swept the dirt on the floor and wiped the dust away, leaving the vases clean and without any hint of dust.
After cleaning the floor, I went down to check on my grandma, who was making lunch in the kitchen.
"What did Mavin suggest?" I asked Grandma.
"He wants pork steak." Grandma replied. "Are you done cleaning your floor now?" she asked.
I nodded and smiled at grandma, "Yes, grandma. I made sure there was not a hint of dust anywhere. I do not want to get scolded." I replied.
"Good. How about Steven?" She asked again.
"He is in his room." I answered.
I saw Grandma smile a little. "Are you happy with him?" She asked, which made me astonished.
Although shyness is engulfing me right now, I managed to nod lightly at her.
My family knows what's going on because of my friend, Shiela, my mom, and my sister kept on teasing me about Steven.
I am happy that they are supporting me or us, but they are most likely to tease me whenever they have the chance to do it. They won't stop for now. They did it too when they learned about me and Jake before.
I guess I will be facing their teasing for a few weeks.
"I am happy that you are happy now. We all want your happiness, and I know Steven is a good man. I like him for you." Grandma said as he tasted the dish.
"Thank you, grandma." I answered and went to hug her. "Thank you for supporting me all this time." I added and planted a kiss on my grandma's cheek.
Grandma squeezed my hands, and then I heard someone ring the bell.
"I will check it first." I said and walked out of the kitchen. "I will do it. Just sit there and do your work." I told Mavin when I saw him standing up, but his eyes were still glued to his tablet.
"Thank you, Sunny!" I heard him say.
I went out of the house and headed to the gate to see who the visitor was.
Aside from their parents, there are no other people visiting here, so who is it?
Did they buy something and it is being delivered now?
"Wait a minute," I said when I reached the gate and quietly opened the gate to look outside. "Ahh...h-hello. W-what can I do for you guys?" I asked, stuttering.
Why are there so many handsome and pretty people here?
Is this heaven?
Four of them are standing tall― yes, all of them are tall, like models! They all look good, as if I am the only potato here in this world. Where did they get these kinds of genes?
"Is this the Rendezcah residence?" The tall guy with black hair asked.
I quickly nodded my head―then instantly shook my head afterwards. "M-may I know why?" I asked.
There is no way they have friends here, right? These guys look young.
I heard them suppressing their laughter.
"We meant no harm. Don't worry." The pretty girl among them asked.
YES! SHE IS SO PRETTY! SHE IS MY IDEAL GIRL, HUHU, SO PRETTY.
"A-are you sure? Do you know the people living here?" I asked her back, stuttering again.
They all nodded their heads.
"You mean Mavin and Steven? We heard they are living here." The other guy with brown hair answered.
"Y-you don't mind if I call one of them, right?" I asked nervously.
I might look like I am overacting here, but I just want to make sure. Even though they are gorgeous as hell, I need to make sure they will be safe.
"You can call Steven then." The pretty girl asked.
I nodded and fished my phone out to call Steven.
"Are you done with your work?" Steven said as he answered my call.
"Kind of, but I am here at your gate," I replied, and turned my back at them and whispered, "There are pretty and handsome people in front of your gate. They know your names." I shared.
"Huh? Who are they? Did you ask for their names?" Steven asked back.
I turned to them again. "Uhh, may I know your names?" I asked them.
"Karina." The pretty girl introduced her name.
"I am Bryan." The handsome man with black hair said.
The handsome man with blonde hair saluted at me, "Ethan, at your service." He responded.
"Glenn here." The handsome man with brown hair introduced himself lastly.
"Do you know them?" I asked Steven on the other line, but he was not answering me back. "Why aren't you answering? Are they safe or what?" I asked him again.
"If they are not safe, then you should be running by now, right?" Steven retorted.
"At least I won't let them enter your house." I replied.
"They will be able to kill you before you can even stop them." He added, That made me stop.
I looked at them, scared. "Why are you scaring me like this? I won't let them hurt my Grandma." I said, panicking.
"Gosh Steven, why do you need to scare her like that." The blonde guy commented that made me look at him. "Like what Karina said a while ago, we meant no harm. We are just here to visit them." He added.
I flinched when I felt someone touch my shoulders. "They are my friends." Steven said.
"STEVEN!" They all greeted.
I made way for them to hug each other. They are all smiling widely and hugging each other.
Just where is their hometown? Why does it feel like the people who live there are all handsome and pretty?
Starting with Mavin and Steven, as well as their parents, who look young too.
Now, their friends are all good!
I envy them!
"Sunny." Steven called. "You okay?" He asked.
I quickly nodded my head and turned to his friends. "I am sorry about a while ago. I hope you did not mind what I did." I said my apology and bowed a little.
"Don't worry, that's nothing." The pretty girl replied. "But would you be okay if we are not really good people? You will be in danger in that case." She added.
"I-I don't know. I just thought I'd stop you from coming inside because Steven, Mavin, and my grandmother are there. I do not want them to get h-hurt." I replied. "Sorry for thinking badly. You should have told me immediately that they were your friends." I told Steven.
"You will get yourself killed," Steven replied, as he pointed at my forehead and pushed it a little. "Let's go inside." He added and held my shoulders, pushing me to move forward.Download Novelah App
