Chapter 19: Sigma Playboy.

As I continued to work at the restaurant, I couldn't help but notice the tension between Gabrielle and me. It had been three days since the incident, and we hadn't spoken a word to each other. I had decided to cut ties with her, and I was determined to move on with my life.
But fate had other plans. As I was about to serve a customer, I saw the door open and Gabrielle walk in. She looked pissed off, her eyes flashing with anger. Her hair was messy, and her clothes were wrinkled, like she had just rolled out of bed. I didn't bother to acknowledge her, I just focused on taking the customer's order.
But Gabrielle wasn't having it. She kept staring at me, her eyes following me as I moved around the restaurant. I could feel her gaze on me, and it made my skin crawl. I didn't want anything to do with her, but she seemed determined to get my attention.
Max noticed the tension between us and decided to intervene. He went over to Gabrielle's table and took her order, chatting with her like they were old friends. I rolled my eyes, wondering what he was doing. Didn't he know that I wanted nothing to do with her?
But Max was persistent. He came into the kitchen area, where I was busy preparing the customer's order, and said, "Hey, man, Gabrielle wants to talk to you."
I shook my head, not even bothering to look up. "No way, Max. I'm not interested."
But Max wouldn't take no for an answer. "Come on, man, just go talk to her. I'm not saying you have to accept her apology or anything, but just hear her out. You never know what she might have to say."
I sighed, feeling frustrated. Why was Max pushing me to talk to Gabrielle? Didn't he know that I was trying to move on with my life?
But Max just wouldn't give up. He kept pestering me, telling me that I should at least hear Gabrielle out. Finally, I relented, just to shut him up.
"Fine, I'll go talk to her," I said, throwing up my hands in defeat. "But I'm not promising anything."
Max grinned, looking triumphant. "That's the spirit, man. Go show her what a playboy is made of."
I rolled my eyes, feeling annoyed. But I went out to Gabrielle's table anyway, determined to get this over with.
Gabrielle looked up at me, her eyes flashing with anger. "So, you're finally willing to talk to me," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
I shrugged, feeling nonchalant. "I'm only here because Max insisted. I don't really have anything to say to you."
Gabrielle's face fell, and for a moment, I felt a pang of guilt. But then I remembered what she had done, and my anger came flooding back.
"Well, I have something to say to you," Gabrielle said, her voice cold. "I want to apologize for what happened the other day. I know I hurt you, and I'm sorry."
I raised an eyebrow, feeling skeptical. "Sorry? You're sorry? That's not enough, Gabrielle. You broke my trust, and I can't just forgive you like that."
Gabrielle's face fell, and she looked at me with tears in her eyes. "I know I can't undo what's been done," she said. "But I want to try to make it right. Can't we just talk about this and figure out a way to move forward?"
I sighed, feeling frustrated. Why was Gabrielle making this so hard? Couldn't she just leave me alone?
But Max's words came back to me, and I realized that I had to at least hear her out. So I sat down at the table, and we started talking.
It wasn't easy, and it wasn't pleasant. We argued and fought, our voices raised in anger. But we also laughed and joked, our old chemistry still sparking between us. As we talked, I realized that maybe, just maybe, we could move forward after all.
As we finished our conversation, Gabrielle looked at me with tears in her eyes. "I know I can't expect you to forgive me right away," she said. "But I hope that someday, we can be friends again."
I nodded, feeling a pang of guilt. Maybe, just maybe, we could be friends again. But for now, I just needed some space.
"I need some time, Gabrielle," I said. "But maybe someday, we can talk again."
Gabrielle nodded, looking relieved. "I understand," she said. "I'll give you all the time you need."
As we parted ways, I couldn't help but feel a sense of closure. Maybe, just maybe, I could use this opportunity to my advantage and show her what a player I'm.
As I walked back into the kitchen, Max greeted me with a curious expression. "So, how did it go?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with interest.
I smirked, feeling a sense of satisfaction. "I did as you asked," I replied, my voice low and mischievous.
Max's eyes lit up, and he let out a burst of laughter. "Ha! I knew you could do it," he said, clapping me on the back.
I chuckled, feeling a sense of camaraderie with Max. "Yeah, I pretended to hear her out, just like you said," I replied, shaking my head in amusement. "She thinks I'm considering getting back with her, but little does she know..."
Max finished my sentence for me. "You're just playing her like a fiddle!"
We both burst out into laughter again, our voices echoing off the walls of the kitchen. It felt good to have Max's support and guidance in this situation.
As we composed ourselves, Max put a hand on my shoulder. "Listen, man, I know it wasn't easy to do what I asked, but trust me, it's better this way," he said, his eyes serious. "She wouldn't have been a good friend to you anyway, and now you're temporarily free from her drama. And before she realizes what's going on, you'll be permanently free from her troubles."
I nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Max. "Thanks, man, I owe you one," I said, clapping him on the back.
Max grinned. "No problem, bro, that's what friends are for. Now let's get back to work and forget about Gabrielle for good."
We both returned to our tasks, feeling lighter and more carefree than we had in days. I was glad to have Max by my side, and I knew that with his help, I could overcome any obstacle that came my way.
