CHAPTER 18
On our entire trip, the two lovers keep arguing. Earlier, we made our stopped to rest the horses and there, Amelia decided to sit beside the coachman and he agreed.
The coachman kept sharing his stories and pointing different spots where travelers visit. Amelia sparks an interest to it that made her talkative. I’ve heard them talking while the two people inside this carriage keeps arguing.
“For this couple of hours arguing, can you two please stop?”
“I’m sorry, milady. I didn’t mean to disturb your trip”
She looked at Sebastian and whispered. “It’s all your fault”, wherein I can hear it.
I was irritated because I can’t sleep nor have peace looking at the scenery we passed.
After quite some time, I glanced the sea and there’s my most awaited thing to hear and the music to my ears. I need to eacape this arguing couple as soon as possible or it may affect my mental health.
“If we straight ahead and turn left into the intersection. We will see the passengers area and that’s where I will drop you off”
I sighed when I heard that. It means that I can finally rest and to count my oeaceful days ahead.
The coachman dropped us off to the ticketing booth. He enjoyed our company. That’s why he dropped us near to it instead of the passenger area.
Sebastian was the one who bought us the ticket. After that, we rode on the boat. He told us, as a man he should be the one to handle those things. I'm thankful because that lessen the work of Scarlet.
I was nervous the entire time because I’m afraid I will fall. I can’t swim and there are no life jackets in here. I didn’t move, I looked like a statue sitting. I felt the swaying and rocking of the boat more rather than the ship. I felt my stomach turned upside down and I tried my best to hold it down. I don want to vomit in the middle of the sea.
I saw a glimpse of the island. I sighed in relief looking at that. the worst is I felt my legs become numb. I can’t stand up.
The others began to jump to the sand while I am still sitting here. Amelia looked at me with a confused look while Scarlet looked at me with a worried look.
“What happened, milady?”
“M..y, my legs. I can’t move them”
I heard a shout that’s coming nearer and nearer. It shouted Scarlet’s name and milady?
I looked at, who is it? And it was nanny. She run towards us.
When, she’s in front of her daughter. They hugged each other tightly. Well, it’s been a couple of years that they didn’t saw each other, it's very understandable, their affection.
“Milady?”
“Yes?”
She cupped my cheeks, stared at me and hugged me tightly.
“I’m glad you are safe, milady”
I smiled bitterly. If they only knew, I’m not the Chantria whom they loved.
“What’s wrong, milady?”
“Oh? I felt my legs turn numb so, I can’t stand up”
“Here, grabbed on my shoulder”
“But”
“It’s okay. I may be old looking but. I have the strength of a thirty old man”
I chuckled at her. “Well, then. Pardon me”
I grabbed her arms and hold it tightly. I stood up but, there’s a sting that I’ve felt. Then she let me sit on the sand and then, I moved slowly my legs to ease the numbness.
“I didn’t know that the lady is very old that she’s experiencing numb legs"
“Watch your mouth, idiot”
“What? My dear Scarlet, I’m just teasing the Lady”
“I..it’s okay, really”
I focused on moving my legs. When, I felt that the numb is gone. I stood up.
“Then, shall we go?”
We walked while I am dusting off the sand on my back. My nanny guide us to their house. In every house or people, we passed by, they will always greet nanny and asked where is her guest as well as her daughter. My nanny seems to be popular in this village. There are distances in every household, Some of them half of the kilometer or just a few meters.
“Sebastian, is your father knows you’re going to visit here?”
“No, I might as well surprise him”
“Don’t scare the old man, you might trigger his heart attack”
“Alright”
I’ve felt we walked far enough. We were climbing the mountains now. This hike is tiring but worth it. I lowered my head while gasping some air. I felt thirsty.
“We are here”
I glanced the house. I was amused by the sight of it, it’s a brick house. I’ve seen earlier some wooden house, and it’s well built. This time, it looks like the old house of my past. It has intricate designs.
What’s more wondrous is, the inside. As soon as we opened the door, there’s a staircase on the right side. On the left side is the shoe cabinet, the center is the way to the living room and bathroom.
Nanny told us to used slippers when we are inside and leave our shoes in the cabinet. We didn’t see, the inside yet because we need to turned left and the door that we saw in front of us is the comfort room.
When, we walked to the living room. There’s a carpet on the floor, a fireplace, a transparent sliding door which allows us to see the garden. There’s a small couch and sofa’s as well as pillows there. There’s not a hassle since. it’s only take a few steps going to the kitchen. It's visible in the living area so we can see who's cooking or the person there. There's also, an exit door in the kitchen.
After that, Nanny tour us upstairs. There are five rooms including the attic. It’s up to us, which we want to choose.
We decided that we choose the attic for us to stay together. Since. I’m pregnant Nanny didn’t allow for me to be alone.
We climbed the stairs that takes us to the attic. I thought it is untidy but, there are already designs in here. There are three beds lined up in a row to make an aesthetic vibe. The mattress was on the ground. There’s a small side table, closet and a few cushions on the floor. The room is a combination of coral and teal.
We thought of unpacking when we saw nanny’s head peeking at us in the scuttle hole.
“Do you need some help?”
“No, it’s okay mom”
“Call me if there’s something you need”
“Yes”
After we didn’t see nanny. I glanced to Scarlet. Is she a noble? I know that a beautiful house like this only, a rich or an average people could afford. In this time, there's a big gap between the rich and poor. The poor will be treated as trash, and live in a poverty.
“Do you want to say something to me?”
“Well , scarlet. I might be rude about this but, are you a noble?”
It was Amelia asking. We shared the same thought but I didn’t blurted it out. I am already rude by thinking something unpleasant.
“Oh? I didn’t tell you?”
“The what?”
“I’m a baron’s daughter”
“You, what?”
“Is that shocking?”
“Yes”
“Yes”
She laughed at us. I felt my jaw dropped for that revelation. I didn’t expect that my stay here would be cozy. Well, I tend to judge things which is my fault.
“I tried to hide that a secret”
“I..I’m sorry, it was selfish of me to request something like this because of it, i exposed your secret"
“It’s okay milady and it’s not uncommon for a baron’s daughter to be working as a maid. It serves us our bridal studies after all”
“Well, I didn’t know that”
“Most of us servants on your household milady. Some of them possessed a noble blood like me. After we quit there to be a bride, we will receive a dowry from the duchess”
“I see”
This means that I have a little knowledge about this world and I, only know the story of the two protagonist. Isn't that bad?
