May's POV (Elena)
I've been staring at Chase for quite some time. He was humming a strange tone and dancing from left to right. My feet are itching to flee, but he has locked the kitchen door. Ugh, this guy, or is he gay? What's with the feminine touch these days? He always acted like a playboy, but now he's showing me his true colors. Yep, he really is so full of himself.
"Let me out, Chase," I said, attempting to hide my irritation.
I don't want him to be successful in lowering my guard as a result of his annoying presence. He turned to face me, still holding a knife in his right hand, and grinned sheepishly, shrugged his shoulders, and returned his attention to whatever he was cooking.
"May, why don't you start slicing that onion instead of—" I cut him off.
Who said I will be cooking? I have never cooked in my entire life... and there is no way I will ever let him know! I won't let him know.
"This is an order Chase," I commanded him adding a little rise in my voice.
Finally, he turned around! He flashed me a mischievous smile that sent shivers down my spine. He is both annoying and creepy. I glared at him, but he kept advancing toward me. I can't help but get distracted so I try to bite my lip.
I'm trying hard not to chuckle right now. But I can't stop myself from laughing. I noticed his puzzled expression as he asked me why I was laughing. I felt my cheeks warm up with humiliation.
"Why are you blushing May?" he asked still confused about my change of mood.
I have never laughed like this in my whole life not even with Luke. My heart abruptly beat wildly as I mentioned his name. What am I thinking? Why did I suddenly think of Luke? I shoved away from the thought and stared at the man in front of me.
With his masculine body and manly appearance, from his sharp jawline to his hypnotizing light hazel eyes, long thick eyelashes, soft moisty kissable lips, and a perfect nose with his undyingly strong sex appeal. F*ck, what am I saying. Did I just say all that?
"Are you making fun of me May?" he sternly asked staring at my eyes
Wait, when did he get here? I didn't notice he was this near so I stepped backward but he just stepped forward following my steps. Urgh, annoying Chase. Go away and get lost.
"You were checking me out earlier, didn't you?" he seductively asked with his lips curving a victorious smile.
Was I? Urgh, If I did I would never tell him. Lalaki lang ang ulo into. And I am not into him... if anything...
"Dream on Chase. Why would I even check you out?" I retorted rolling my eyes heavenwards.
"Because," he paused as he took a step forward. "I'm simply..." I step backward. "Hot." Ugh, I bump into a kitchen counter. "Handsome," he continued. "Charming." He put both of his hands on the kitchen counter, trapping me. Tsk. "And gorgeous," he said before winking at me.
This obnoxious arrogant jerk. With a deep sigh, he rested his brow on my shoulder. I roughly pushed him away. I came to a halt when I heard him chuckle.
"Enjoying aren't we, May?" he chuckled.
Urgh, annoying Chase. With full force, I pushed him away but he only moved an inch away.
"You're strong, May. That's why you are very interesting. Every girl falls for me, they are the ones who chase me. They literally nearly surrendered their humanity to me.—" I stopped him from talking.
This is what I am talking about. And why would they even Chase this annoying arrogant jerk? Are they blind or just lack taste? Luke is a million times more visually attractive than him. And he isn't even this arrogant. Tsk.
"Did I bruise your petty ego, you pity thing?" I asked mockingly, I know he just finds me entertaining. He is someone who always gets what he wants no matter what and I am a scratch on his record. "Don't group me to your filthy b*tches, Chase. I am not one of them and never will," I strongly opposed.
He cocked his head and fixed his gaze on mine. Of course, I wouldn't try to avoid his gaze because I am May and I hate losing especially against this haughty jerk.
"I know. You are different and I don't mind chasing you May," he replied giving me goosebumps.
"Chase me all you want but you'll never catch me, Chase," I retorted back with emphasis on the word 'chase'.
He cupped my face, still looking into my eyes. He gave me a sweet smile. I won't let him intimidate me. I'm getting used to him being all this touchy. That is just the kind of man he is— and I don't hate him so much for that for some reason. He just somewhat reminds me of myself.
"I'll make sure you'll eat your words, May," he stubbornly insists while smirking.
"Spare me the sweet sugar-coated talks Chase," I commented before rolling my eyes heavenward.
"So, May, tell me. What made you laugh?" He was still staring at me when he asked. "Hearing you laugh turns me on May, a wonderful melody, I would say, so tell me. What made May Gonzales laugh for the first time?" he inquired, his eyes wide with interest
Urgh, perverted jerk. I rolled my eyes and tried pushing him as hard as I can. He held my hand, I stared back at him trying to pull my hands away from his grip but failed. Urgh, I won't accept that I will lose to this jerk.
"Listen May, unless you tell me, I won't let go," he sternly proclaimed.
Tsk, I truly hate anyone who tries to control me. I am the one who should have authority over them, not this jackass. Urgh. This is vexing, no, calm down— I inhaled and exhaled. There's no point in panicking, May.
My lips formed a sly smile. I could see Chase's brows meet. Persistent jerk. I'll show you then I shifted my eyes to his apron as he followed where my eyes wandered.
"Sh*t, that girl," I heard him whisper to himself.
My eyebrow suddenly arched. A girl? I don't know why, but my blood boiled. He is indeed a playboy. Tsk, you want to play a game, Rodriguez? I'll play your game and make sure I win it.
"That apron suits you Chase, a frilly pink hello kitty-designed apron? I didn't know you have a girly side Rodriguez," I sarcastically commented.
He is a man of fragile toxic masculinity or so I heard. I bet he'd be fuming mad with me embarrassing him and finally let me go— if the rumors about him are true. I noticed how his cheeks turned bright red all the way up to his ears. He abruptly drew me in for a hug.
I could feel his heart racing as he buried his face in my neck. Suddenly, I felt a tingling sensation. It was as if every hair on my skin stood up at once. And somehow... I remembered Luke. I feel like I am betraying him. But is it really me? Or just my memory of Elena?
"This is incredibly humiliating," he murmured in a low voice, "but I don't care how embarrassing my situation is, I don't care if others laugh at me as long as I can hear you laugh... but it's not like I'm going to let them make fun of me... if it's you, I'm fine with it, you're the only one who has the right."
He and his pick-up line. Tsk, I'm not going to lose. Chase, I am well aware of your strategy; you will not win against me. Tsk, he turned his back and started cooking as if nothing had happened. I am done playing around. I went to the kitchen door and kicked it, breaking it in half.
"M-May," he shouted while stuttering.
I walked out, smirking at him. I have to figure out how to get out of this hellhole. There are no cars or taxis available, and I am unfamiliar with the area, so what should I do? When I felt someone grip my wrist, I was pulled back to reality.
"You broke my door, May," he whined, "and you ruined our date," he continued like a grumpy child. "I can't believe you just did that!"
"I am going home Chase," I plainly answered.
One way or another I know I can escape from his web-like chain. I saw how his lips curved.
"I am your home May," he proclaimed in a very confident tone.
Annoying, tsk. I'm starting to lose my temper so I gave him a kick on his knee which made him whimper in pain. He really doesn't run out of anything stupid to say.
"OK, OK, OK! You're a real brute, ain't you?" he grumbled.
I smell victory, I crossed my arms with a triumphant smile plastered on my face which turned into a frown upon hearing his condition.
"I'll take you home after we finish cooking and eating our dinner," he smirked. "I don't want to ruin our first date, May, and I won't take no for an answer."
Urgh. This sly dirty arrogant jerk. I glared at him, and if glaring can kill, this man is long dead.
"No way!" I shouted in frustration.
"Well, there's no issue with me if you don't want to, you can linger at my house for as long as you want," he smirked evilly. "...forever would be ideal."
"Forever doesn't exist Chase," I retorted emphasizing every word I uttered.
"We'll see May, maybe we can make people believe of forever," he playfully commented. "We'd be the proof of it."
Urgh, this annoying Chase. He really never fails to annoy him in every little way he acts. I had no choice but to agree, I don't want to stay any longer in his place.
"This will be the first and last, Rodriguez," I warned.
I noticed his eyes twinkled with joy. I don't fully comprehend you Chase, but I'll get there because I'm going to win this game you started. This will be the last time I admit defeat because I intend to turn the tables.
