"None of your business," I answered flatly.
"Are you angry at the world?" He teased. "Why do I always see you angry? Don't you really know how to have fun and be happy? If you want... I can teach you."
Tsk, this annoying jerk. Why is Chase Rodriguez even inside his rival's company?! I grabbed Yummie's hand but she stood like a frozen stone and wouldn't move an inch. Tsk. Fine, I'm leaving you. I turned my back and walked away as fast as I can but someone suddenly lifted me up.
"Chase!" I shouted in shock as he gave me a victorious smirk. "Put me down this instant!"
I was still struggling from his hold when someone suddenly walked by and faked a cough.
"Please refrain from making a scene."
And it was Luke! I didn't want him of all people to see me with this jerk! He walked away, not looking back.
"You really love punching me don't you?" Chase finally put me down and fixed his tie. I really hate this guy.
"Now it's time," he said, his words seeming to have two implications. "I'll be waiting," he said, turning away from me.
Tsk. Great way to ruin my day. I went to the pantry angry and furious but as soon as I saw the long line, my patience went up in flames. I couldn't find Yummie too, great! Just perfect! I want to throw the chairs and tables at these noisy people! Tsk!
"I lost my appetite. I'm going back," I mumbled
Well, I'm waiting for him to perish, but as the Filipino saying goes, 'matagal mamatay ang masamang damo'—weeds don't easily die, they say. And I strongly believe Chase is one. I need fresh air! I walked toward the park at the back of the building. I need to cool off my mind.
I noticed Yummie following me when someone suddenly grabbed me by the neck.
"Hey, what are you plotting? Stay the hell away from May!" Yummie cried.
Tsk, here come the pathetic b*tches with their disgraceful bullying tactics. Yummie was being held by two girls, and the ever-annoying b*tch with her hand in the wall, trapping me, gave me a dirty look.
"Another child play, Gabriella?" I mocked.
"Stay away from Sir Chase and put an end to your delusions. You are not good enough for him! Dream on!" she ordered melodramatically. "He deserves so much more than a lowlife like you!"
"Well, tell that to that jerk. I would be glad if you do. He really is a pain in the head," I boringly stated. "By all means, please take that jackass away from me. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have a lot of work to do."
Gabriella stalled in front of me, pressing me against the wall. The skin on my neck was pierced by a cold, sharp blade.
Yummie's nervous voice echoed throughout the empty park. "Gabriella! Put the knife down! Don't—"
"If you don't want me to slash that f*cking noisy mouth of yours, shut the hell up, Yummie! This wench needs to know her place!"
"Perhaps it's time, Gabriella, to find out where you stand," I fluttered my lashes, stressing the word 'you'. "Do you really think a petty threat would frighten me?"
Her aggravated breathing tells me she is affected by my words. False bravery? How long can you keep this on Gabriella? I thought you'd settled down after the last incident which put you to shame, but here you are doing something stupid again. Didn't learn our lesson, did you?
"Let's see how long that smile lasts after I do this!" She suddenly runs towards Yummie with the knife in her hands. "Die! You ruined my life!"
Why is she holding me responsible for something she did on her own? I managed to dodge her frontal assault, but she seems like she was losing her mind. She was just aimlessly attacking me, swaying her knife with all her might.
Geez. Yummie's fear can be seen in her eyes. The two girls who are holding her are stiff scared and faltering, but the psychotic witch is deadly serious. She has no intention of stopping. Perhaps I pushed her too hard.
Tsk. My surroundings began spinning in slow motion, making me want to throw up. Oh, sh*t! This was not part of the plan. I instantly felt lightheaded and was close to fainting. Ugh, how weak is this body of mine? My brain is telling me I can handle this, that I can still fight, but my body... it is refusing to cooperate.
Sheesh! Not right now; I need to hold on. This is going to be dangerous— not just for me but for Yummie and Gabriella too! My eyes widened when Yummie got away from the grip of the two women holding her and rushed toward us. She grabbed Gabriella's hand in an attempt to stop her.
"Drop that knife—" Shit. I need to calm down.
I saw how the red liquid flowed down Yummie's neck along with her tears. Sh*t, no. I haven't even apologized to her yet, and she's putting her life in danger for me. I can't have that! I can get by on my own.
I was about to take a step forward when my body went numb and as if time slowed down, I felt myself falling backward, ready to embrace the ground and feel the impact. My mind couldn't get off the thought of Yummie, I can't have her getting hurt because of me!
Why is my body not cooperating?! Move! I heard her calling my name and crying in panic and fear. Foolish, girl! You should be worrying about yourself and not me. You can't even manage your own, tsk...
"I apologize for being late, mi reina, but be rest assured..." My vision was blurry but I definitely recognized that voice. "Your Prince Charming has arrived and is here to save you."
