I Woke up when Jackie called me up with her eyes staring into the phone, there was a blank look on her face about whatever it is was on the screen, she turned it to my face to see, “ This came last night from Mother superior, it says that we are needed at the Orphanage today, it's an emergency ”. Yes, I can see that, I just gently took the phone from her, kept it aside and dragged her down lying on the bed.
“ That's another matter to look into princess, for now, we have got to stay in bed for a little while more.....”, I said, she forced herself up again, “ what if something bad has happened and she needed us right away?, I think we should come and be going over there now ”, she said, trying to go see whatever it was that made Mother superior to contact us.
“ Look down the message, there's a written time there, she never needs us right away, or she would call....”. By the pause from her, I guess she has seen the time there, it says 12 noon, meaning we still got quite sometime here with us.
“ You don't even look bothered, What if something was really off?....”, she asked, beating me gently on the back while I lie on the bed with my face down and hands spread wide, covering her spot all together.
“ If it was something bothering Jackie, I am sure you will feel the change and symptoms in your body, but right now, I guess you're in full health and ready to pin me down if possible.....”. Another hit landed on my back as I laughed out loud for her reaction, “ I will bite you...”, she threatened playfully as she left the room, I just laid there lazily, knew that life would become this way when she's close to me, but I love it that way.
On getting to the Orphanage, the gate was opened wide for us as we drove in, reaching the Orphanage 30 minutes earlier than the set time. “ Look Honey, there are others here too, they seem to be making preparations for an occasion.....”, she said with Joy and happiness filling her expression, I am not surprised, neither am I spilling anything I know to anybody.
Friends gathered round to welcome us, most of them making jokes of us while the others remained distance a little bit, we all have stayed apart for a long years apart, most of them were successful too, others look set up on the medium and living happily, I tried to blend with everyone around while Jackie was around the girls, I guess we wasn't the only changed ones here.
There's a lot of changes here, both in faces and in behavior, everyone looks like the world now, none of them acting shy and scared like the innocent kids we used to be, most of the guys are already making plans with the girls around and they too wasn't dressed on those long attires, they were all flashy and stuffs, looks like Mr Caleb knew all about this at once, that's why he was trying to educate me about it then.
Here's the thing about becoming a celebrity, a movie star, people begins to treat you differently, you don't know your friends or your foe, the girls were giving me more attention than the other boys, Jackie wasn't bothered about me because she knew her man but the guys were feeling a bit off, they wasn't getting that close anymore like before, few of them were standing apart but their attention at us while the others were pushing to get closer, taking pictures, showing that they're friends with Jones Williams even when we hardly talk with each other.
The undivided attention left me when mother superior shows up with sister Benita, I remember both of them being posted apart in different areas, guess they were willing to make it to this together.
Everyone went to welcome mother superior and sister Benita, all of us sharing hugs with them, it's a special Day and we all are here to enjoy it, the celebration will be beginning in no time.
The Orphanage was closed down for a while then and with the knowledge I have gotten from Mother superior, they'll be reopening them soon, though they wouldn't be the ones in charge this time, but it makes up for the blames they might've given to themselves for it's closing down, that's why it's been hosted here because this was our home once, every single one of us here.
Jack was the last to arrive, he showed up ten minutes late, but luckily, we haven't resumed the main program but the occasion has quite started. I spoke with him, the attentions mostly on both of us. It's nothing to be proud of though, neither will you give your rights away because others see themselves in a lower status to you, the Bible taught us, the higher you rise, the more humble you should become, that's the teaching but always watch out because not everyone admires your success, some would like to ruin you without knowing the struggles that took you wherever you are.
I have never got time to speak with my angel, she's around but both of us are occupied, she should be careful though, this people are changed people, not the innocent kids she used to know anymore, most of them would be happy for her that she's dating me, others will have nothing but hate, putting on a fake smile, it's a brutal realization, but it's a fact.
Most of the boys were sitting with the girls, me, Jack and few other boys were sitting together, as well as distance away from us was Jackie and few other girls whom looks more like Stella and her gangs to me, God help us on this.
