I was lying on the bed when I heard the door open, it's her, my woman, Jackie. I can hear her footsteps sounding on the tiles as she keeps getting closer and the sound louder, I never saw her until the door to the room opened and she stepped in, her eyes on me, watching me lying on the bed, my eyes now back staring at the ceiling.
The time was 18:42 p.m. I came back forty minutes ago and since then never left my spot, the News on the social media is what I can never imagine can get to me, and by the way it was edited, it made me look like the devil.
Somehow, I might believe I might be the devil's spawn like they said, but my reasons for being like this is none of anyone's da*n business, just that the message I got from the director right after my return seems quite unacceptable.
Hate speech was never something I could look onto, it's none of my business, whatever a person thinks about me is left for him, not me, but with that getting into my occupation and lifestyle, with fingers pointing at me, that's something that counts.
“ I know that everyone out there thinks you're everything they feel like you are, but seeing you lying here, face looking frustrated about what's happening on social media, this is not what I will ever expect from you baby, Both of us know you don't care about what's happening out there, but you're not acting like it right now.....”, she said, now sitting beside me on the bed, hand holding mine.
“ I'm just exhausted from today's work baby, and also.... On getting home, the director told me that my current image will have a negative effect in his coming movie, so he's letting me go....”. I said to her.
She was just staring into my face, rubbing the back of my palm gently, trying to give me a lady's touch.... Peaceful touch like they say, “ I know that I may be asking for too much right now Honey but can you give me the honor?....”, she requested from me.
I was left confused by what she said, I don't know what she meant by those words, what is she asking permission for?, “ what?”, I asked her, my mind traveling away from whatever I was thinking of, and now focused all on her.
“ I know you always feel like what would my late uncle do about this, so if you would give me the power, would you allow me to show you what Uncle Dale might do about this?....”, she asked. She's definitely asking for too much as she said, but she has the eligibility after all, so I think I should allow her to, and beside, what does she know about my uncle when it comes to his behavior. “ Sure babe, I am watching....”.
She stood up, eyes on me, she didn't speak, then she turned around and walk away. I don't know what she just did, but I was left mesmerized, that exactly, uncle Dale will do. This got me back to the memory where I came to complain to him in the prison, that was the last time he spoke to me and I went home with a lot of knowledge, but right now, I just did the same thing and my Jackie is now showing me what she thinks my uncle will do about it.
I came down from the bed and went after her, she was in the changing room, locking herself in, I began knocking on the door, she slightly opened it peeping to see me, that's when I burst out with laughter which affected her too as she looked down with a smile on her face, “ I guess I just got back my man....?”, “ Yeah, you definitely did baby.....thank you, thanks a lot ”, I stepped in and hugged her tight.
Uncle Dale might be dead physically, but he's still living within us mentally, spiritually and emotionally, he's just there, watching me fall victim to what he corrected me about the last time, I am sorry Dad, I really am.
I woke up the next morning with my woman in my arms, she was still fast asleep and the alarm is sounding out loud, it's 05:00 p.m. time to proceed with the next day activities. I picked up my phone and gave my manager a call, I have made my decision and I made it last night while I was in bed, I don't want to bring controversy into the beautiful life I just built myself, I have acted in few movies already and think it's about time I call off my career on acting, I have my reasons, I also have some money to continue on my lane of a fitness trainer, I now have two standard gym which is functioning well, an Orphanage dedicated after me and some major investments I have done so far, I believe I should make this sacrifice for the family I am hoping to build.
Jackie agreed with my decision when she was awake, I didn't give my reasons to my manager though because he has nothing to do with it, just the information that I am done is enough. Many would possibly say that I quit, yes.... They're right, I quit this time, but that doesn't mean that I failed because I still got everything on track, I wouldn't call it quitting though, maybe a sacrifice sounds more honorable.
That life won't help the family I dream of building, it might be a dream of mine, but I will still get back to it with time, but for now, I have to start planning on getting married with my woman, and next, giving birth to kids, whose father I will be and train them the way I want to.
