I never wasted a single minute in the morning, immediately I heard the sound of my phone alarm buzzing, I began with today's goal, operation never let this chance slide away.
Last night was a call from Mr Ryan who rejected my offer, all my hopes seems lost for that angle, but unexpectedly, that's the same angle that has gotten me running this early morning, he asked me to come by the gym this morning, he needs me to speak to his brother about the deal.
On getting there, I took a deep breath, I don't know how this is going to turn out, but so help me God as I proceed with this. I was just looking at the front entrance to the gym, dreading or impatient to see what's in there, I am dreading it because the chances of success as he explained yesterday is slick and I am impatient because the fact he called for my return means that he took time to reconsider my offer.
Stepping in, I moved forward into the Gym house, Mr Ryan saw me enter but the brother he was talking about had his back on me, the closer I got the more familiar things get, am I walking into something I know nothing about or what?.
The moment he was facing me, that's when everything went blank, no single reaction, no single feeling, I was just stuck, stuck in oblivion as I watched the figure before me who was taken aback seeing me staring right at him. “ Jones..... ”, that's the only word that escaped his lips as our eyes never broke contact, Mr Ryan stood there also taken aback because he wasn't expecting us to know each other.
My mind automatically resets from confusion to anger, “ Mr Caleb, you sold me away....”, I said to him, anger now taken over me as we continue to stare into each others eyes, Mr Ryan might have sensed the difference between us because he came in between us trying to cool down the pressure.
“ Jones.... You.... you've grown into a man ”, “ Don't tell me that sh*t Mr Caleb, you sold me away after you lied to me about your brother.....”. Anger was now overflowing, I was trying hard to hold back, but as the clock ticks, I am running out of patience.
“ I never lied to you Jones, I might have done in most areas but remember everything I told you then, I just want you to relax let's talk about this Jones....”, he requested. Knowing that my actions still determines my opportunity in finishing this deal with the upper hand, I decided to relax and hear out what he wanted to say.
We sat down, the three of us facing each other and the only confused one here was Mr Ryan who doesn't know the exact thing going on here. “ Jones, Jones, Jones!.... Yes, I can remember those words, and without further explanation, I am beginning to understand where he's heading with this.
“ You see Jones.... I told you that I was bringing you to my brother and he was poor and life could be hard along the way, you happened to understand those things and agreed to join me on that quest of running away, but along the line, I changed the plans, I am not trying to say that I was right on this, no, I believe that I was a 100% wrong, but I believed that I can make this a win win in a way that would benefit the two parties, I decided to break the trust you have for me in an exchange to give you a better life Jones, you've suffered way enough in the Orphanage, I need some money too to help our poverty struck family, and in other hands, you wouldn't settle for less after the lonely and indoor life you have had since you were a boy.... I decided to go on with my new plan, sell you out to a good family which had a good background apart from Uncle Dale's prison status, I understood the reason why he couldn't get a child through adoption in a legal way, so I played the trick on you, hoping that one day you will stumble upon forgiveness in the Bible and find a way to forgive me in your heart, if you can see clearly, you will realize that all I said wasn't a lie, my brother Ryan owns a gym, we're poor, then until you selling opened the way for us, everything I have now was all because of you and right now, I am ready to pay you back for my sins against you..... Here's the key to the gym Jones, right now, you're not going to payback any dime, it's all yours, we can live with what we've got and as the person I saw in you right now, you will make a right out of all this wrong ”.
Every words he said was related, from that angle I was on after he sold me out, all he had said to me was a lie, but from this angle, he was never lying, it was all the truth right from the very first day and somehow he did that to save his family, exactly what Uncle Dale did illegally to bring happiness to his family, but both on my own expense, which wasn't to put me in a worst condition, but to elevate me, at this point have I really admitted that I know nothing about this Life.
