It has almost been a week since I came to live with David and Uncle Dale, it has been going as promised, Uncle Dale has been treating me just as David, and David himself has been getting on along with me, I have realized what Uncle Dale meant when he said that David was alone and needed someone close, someone he can confide in, David has told me somethings he said his Dad doesn't know about, at first it was hard handling secrets, but now, I have happened to realize that I now have a tone of them which I am not willing to share, for example, Stella kissed me yesterday when we were done in the gym, and it came when I least expected it.
I was going to clean up in the men's bathroom when I heard my name behind me, I turned to see that it was Stella coming towards me, at first I was stunned, what was she doing here, this was the men's bathroom and she was comfortably approaching, I had to come out from there so that I won't break any rule regarding the bathrooms. I was now standing outside the door when she got to me.
“ What are you doing here?”, I asked her, a bit taken aback because someone might see us there and think that we were doing sinful things in an open place.
“ What do you think I'm doing?.... You have been staying far away from me, you don't approach, you haven't even gotten my number, it's as if you don't even want me around you....”, she said, her face looking like she was going to breakdown in tears any moment.
“ I never said that....”, “ But that's what your actions speaks, even my friends say that you might think that I am ugly.... Am I ugly Jones?....”, she asked, after she had interrupted my speech without letting me finish.
“ I never said you were ugly Stella, I have seen so many girls around the City since I came in and none of them looks more beautiful than you...”, I said to her. That was actually the truth, I wasn't trying to compliment her or something, just telling her the fact, but I can see that she was already smiling by those words and I don't know if it was because of my words or if she's just pretending.
“ But you shouldn't stay far away from me, I like being around you....”, she said, grabbing my right hand with both of hers, swinging gently. I don't know this feeling, I haven't experienced it before, but it's giving me goosebumps, and I kind of like it.
“ Don't worry Stella, I will try to be closer from now henceforth....”, I promised her, seeing the smile returning to her lips and I like the view. Before I could realize what was going on, her lips were already on mine, taking me by surprise.
Oh my God, should I pull away?, This is sinful, only married couples can do this, why is she doing it?, Does she love me?, I thought we were just friends, friends don't do this kind of stuff, I want to pull away but I like it, I like the feeling, I like her lips on mine, I want to reciprocate with the kiss but I am scared, what if God doesn't forgive me this time?, Haven't I already done a lot of apologizing lately?, Would he forgive me if I pray to him this time saying a girl kissed me?, Should I blame it on her?, But I liked the feeling too, I like the way our lips were together.
She pulled out, still wearing a smile on her face, “ Call me Ella....”, she smiled again, the smile reaching her eyes, showing how genuine they were as she walked away.
That was all about how it happened yesterday and I haven't told anyone yet, not even David who's now my brother and best friend.
I heard a knock on my door, then it was pushed open, it was uncle Dale, he was still on his night wear. 
“ Oh.... I thought you might still be asleep, start getting ready, you know you would be getting registered to the school today...”, he said before walking out. I checked the time and it was five in the morning, that's the normal time we always wake up in the Orphanage. I knelt down with my elbows resting on the bed, Oh God... I'm here again.
Sitting on our breakfast table, as we were done eating, Uncle Dale asked David to go do the dishes this time alone, that he has something he has to speak with me, I sat there and saw David obey with just the first order as always, that's one of the things that makes me happy and comfortable in this house, David is respectful of his Dad, never showing any form of disrespect, not even for once.
“ Jones.... You remember what I told you about the Day you first came in, that's going to be kind of an issue today, you getting registered into a school means that you won't be getting registered with my name, You were not legally adopted by me and I am not eligible to do that, so it's left for you to decide the name you would wish for as your surname and I will cover you up, making it a success....”.
His words were true, but it feels like a stab in my heart, that would make me look like an outsider, I love them, I am getting to love this family, yet I can never bear the surname of the family.
“ What if I decide to go by your name but you won't be my father?....”, “ No no no.... Jones, I won't risk that, I don't want to lose you or my son, I know this is really hard on you but please, you have to understand, I am in the same situation as you, please.....”.
I just sat there, lips sealed as tears began gathering in my eyes but I was trying as much as I can to hold back. “ You have minutes to think up one Jones, before we got to the school, give me an answer....”.
