She has never been relieved and excited the way she feels now finding out that she wasn't pregnant, it was fever. The nurse lifted her spirit by telling her that.
"This things takes a long time to accumulate in your body, sometimes they are forced to rise by pressure, stress, malnutrition, another illness or lack of body care, that is hygiene. So, be careful"
          She was confident now to go out. She went to the school straight from there, no longer feeling sick, it looked as if her thoughts were what she was suffering from and not really malaria. She had lectures and was not going to miss it. she was so sure to be fine and would stay for it. 
             But something was strange about her course mates. Initially she assumed it was the student's normal way of talking which sometimes looks like gossip but it was too obvious to believe it wasn't about her. Everyone turned to look at her as she walked the row. Some even poked their seat mates to create awareness.
"Hey, how are you today?" A lady held her to sit on the space she secured. She was a woman in her mid thirties, probably a mother, looking at her with kind eyes.
"You ain't lookin' bad. Be careful of people you associate with. Those people you share your secrets with are the ones to bring 'em to the public. I'm sure you noticed something as you came in, yeah. They gossip about you being pregnant"
           This was a breaking news to her. She was surprised that people were already acting funny just about a rumor they heard, what would be if they had confirmed it to be true? she will definitely get persecuted. Is being pregnant in school a new thing? is it a taboo? why are they surprise?
"I'm not going to say it the way I heard it. it sounded too mocking and ridiculous. I'm advising you not to freak out, do not take their words and actions to heart. keep your baby, do your best. Remember children are the pride of parents and our hope for tomorrow, even those talking today will help you carry it someday and many years to come they will admire both of you"
"Thank you for not being inhuman like the rest. I really appreciate. But, who could have spread this?"
"Probably your friends. though I don't know them"
            Now she remembered Susan who visited her at home. She must be the journalist behind the news. How could she do a thing like that? how could she be so cruel to have come to the school to spread what she wasn't sure of, about a chum,a close one at that? She never thought Susan could do this to her. 
"I appreciate your care, you have proven to be a reasonable person. I shouldn't be saying this to anyone because I owe no one explanation. it's my life, I bear whatever happens to me. But I will tell you because you deserve knowing the truth. I'm not pregnant, it's just fever, I even went to the hospital to get drugs for it. my test results are here with me I can show them to you if you care. I'm not pregnant.
          I'm so disappointed in my friend. I know who did this. I have always known she came around only to look for a way to get back at me. she's done what she wanted, but she should pray I didn't see her again. She will explain both in peace and violence. I have left this behavior behind, that doesn't mean I have forgotten it" 
               She stood up and left the hall angrily. Her leaving increased the noise and disorder. She headed straight to Amanda's place. She wasn't going there because that was where she could find peace but because she was confused, not certain about where to go.
"From the vigor in your movement I can figure your improvement, I'm glad about that, but your face depict sadness or rather worries. what's up?" Amanda curiously demanded.
                Roselyn found it difficult to begin, she took a break, calmed her nerves then she began.
"It's Susan, that bitch! she ought to pray i don't catch her"
"You mean Susan your friend?"
"God forbid, that slut can never be my friend"
"Oh, ok.. hmm sorry, calm down. what happened? Did you have a fight?"
"Not yet, but we will have it soon. If I fuckin' get the damn bitch, only God knows what will be"
"Rosy, I don't know you with those words. Just calm down and tell me what happened"
"Susan went to the school, to my mates and announced that I am pregnant"
"What! that can't be true. Susan? why would she? do you have a quarrel?"
"A girl I know that have done two abortions, nobody heard about it. we kept it to ourselves but because I reprimanded her on the second pregnancy she had to defame me like this. I don't care what this will result to, I'm ready to face the consequences"
"Don't follow your mind, dearie. You are not saying this because you really want to but because you are angry. You are a good hearted beautiful soft lady"
"That exactly is what's been deceiving people. I think it's time they see the other side"
             As a good friend would, Amanda was so bent on making her anger subside and also tried luring her mind to somethings she would love to engage in. 
"But even if you are really pregnant, that's nothing to be ashamed of. You don't have to feel sad. That's your first love as you claim and he loves you too, his family does. I mean, his mother will find that as a good news. Come to think of it, have you heard from any of them?"
"No, he haven't called since then. Although he already told me about it. As for the mother and sister, I will make time to go see them"
"You don't wait till you make time. besides what time are you really going to make? Not like you are so busy with a project whatever. You need to keep the connection tight" 
"I've heard. Thank you"
