Roselyn went to visit Richard's mother, with an intension to tell her what was on ground and know what would be her reaction. She was a little nervous and doubtful. Not sure if the woman will accept her and the condition, for it's possible that someone whom you thought cherishes you so much would at some point disappoint. So she headed with a prayerful heart.
On getting there she saw that the environment was dead silent, nobody in sight and even Jack who usually welcome her was not seen anywhere. She walked close to the building, the doors were locked from outside, she walked round the building to the back, hoping it could be that someone is behind weeding or something of sort, but there she still did not see anyone, she called the number. It was switched off. "Where could they have gone?" She asked frustratingly. She spent thirty more minutes waiting, nobody was showing up, she checked her time, it was 9am the sun is getting hotter, sitting alone in a big compound like that would surely be suspicious or considered a crazy act by those passerbys, she could feel the energy by how they stare. She stood up and left, she can't wait till evening, that's a very long hours to waste just waiting for someone. She had to come back again but perhaps not that same day. As it was something many does and many understands the significance, she plucked a twig with leaves and stuck it to the door. That will be a sign that someone came to see them when they were away. She stands at the mirror almost every single time she passes it, to see if her stomach was becoming noticable. She changes postures in every possible way to ascertain more carefully. It was still as flat as usual but she was worried however, she might be the only one seeing it to be flat, but protruding for others. "I don't have to spend more than three days here. Nobody has to know about this, nobody has to suspect even"
At Amanda's shop she often behaves cool like nothing is happening but her emotions still fails her sometimes. She only realizes she's not been perfect with her pretence when Amanda suddenly asks her 'Rosy, are you okay, ogini?' that's when she knows she wasn't present, she's just lost in thoughts. "Hmm... I'm fine, just eh ..... just school, school stress" Roselyn would say. "School stress? what exactly in school stresses you this much?" "Everything, Amamda, everything. I'm tired" Amanda stared at her as if she didn't believe her or somehow she was trying to figure out the truth by herself. Roselyn sounded like one who is giving up on life already, and that probably can't be school stress. Roselyn is a brilliant girl who loves education and knowledge, which means she can't be finding the same thing she delights doing as plight. She knows it's not about school but considering the current situation she doesn't have to argue with her. "Whatever it is just take it easy, and if you want to talk about it with me I'm always available for you" She walked to her and hugged her. Friends keep asking her why she has been missing classes recently. She finds those questions personal and very annoying because she couldn't trust any of them, they might be looking for words from her to take to school and make a gossip topic. So to avoid situations like that she has to stay indoor. In the evening she went to Richard's house to see his mother again. That was a perfect time to visit anyone, most activities of the day ceases in the evenings so she was certain to find them in the house. While on the road, she kept wondering how she would go about unveiling the pregnancy. she was indeed bothered by the whole thing. "How did I let myself so loose and careless? I promised myself to focus on what brought me to school and neglect every other things, if I'd kept to that, this wouldn't be happening. I won't have myself stuck between shame and confusion. I can't even speak with my family with a free heart let alone thinking about seeing them. God! I'm not the first to love, why me? just first trial. Many does it millions of times and never take in, why so fast with me?" As her thoughts gets wild tears came dropping from her eyes, the beautiful face becoming pale and her eyes changing to red, her heart burning with grief.
Unfortunately when she got there it was still quiet and very untidy like a deserted place, leaves blowing all round and surfaces getting greener and dustier. "What's going on, today too? where could they have gone? To the village? This can't be happening now. There's nobody to ask unless people from the neighboring compounds but from the look of things they may not have an idea about their whereabouts because the houses are fenced and so there will be no means of connection. They literally had nothing in common. She waited thinking whether to go or not but after about minutes or more she made up her mind to go. "I don't know anything about them" The woman she met said. She didn't go further, she had to turn back but a young guy in the same compound wanted to get involved in the conversation because he could not afford to miss talking to a beautiful lady. "Neighbor, na who she the look for?" He asked in pidgin. "She's asking about that woman that leaves in that compound" She said pointing up towards the direction. "Ehnnn.... I don't think they are still there. That house was sold"
Roselyn's heart skipped, that wasn't a good news but can't be called a bad one either, yet. Only one thing can tell where to place the news, that's if they know where they currently live. "The house, from what I heard was sold, so I think their time there has expired" The guy continued explaining. "So where are they now?" Roselyn asked. "That I don't know. It could still be here in Abuja or perhaps their hometown"
This response stung, her spirit got awakened, fear hit her with great force, adrenaline surged, she was becoming deeply befuddled, she couldn't speak and she appeared to be lost in what no one but she alone can explain. "Is there any problem?" The woman asked. That question called her back, she was obviously absent. "No, not at all. I haven't seen them for long so I decided to pay them a visit" "Don't you have their contact?" "I do but it's not connecting, for long now. That's even the more reason I had to come" "Ah! it's difficult now, maybe unless you go to their village" The guy proposed. "I don't know the place" "Eih! aaaaah! this one is more difficult, very impossible actually" The guy said, initially he thought it was a situation that will give him a chance to connect with Roselyn but seeing that it was something he could not give help to and also seeing her mood he had to stay put. "Alright, thank you. I will take my leave now" "Alright, please be careful, pretty girl" The woman said which awakened the guy, for he thought him alone noticed Roselyn's beauty. "This situation gets more complicated by the day. I was grieving for just being pregnant, now the family involved is no where to be found. How many at a time? Pregnancy in school, pregnancy out of wedlock, pregnancy without a father, I don't even know the family's home, I don't know anything about them, nothing! was this how blind I was?
