Chapter Fifty six - You are not my son.
We will be waiting for our mates
Everyone in the pack becomes silent, waiting for the king’s reply but he only sighs and walks away from them. They follow him to the pack house and he mind links them to start preparing themselves for war. They question themselves worriedly but he doesn’t explain himself to them. Logan then explains to them as exactly what is going on. He feels that most of them don’t have the feeling to go to war and just as he is about to give up, a feeling enters him and he says to them with his eyes wide opened,
“You will have to prepare yourselves for war because, this fight is not a fight among us werewolves. It could be easy for us to win but this fight is among werewolves, rogues, witches, ordinary humans, mermaids and one that has a little of all that I have mentioned in him. And that’s the one that we are about to save, without him, the werecrocodiles, who are also mermaids will trample over us and humans but with him in the center and our savior. I believe we shouldn’t worry about the results because…”
Before he could finish his words, someone adds on from the crowd shouting,
“Victory is ours.”
Logan moves forward and with a boldly gesture, he speaks,
“Yes, that’s right, all we need is some strength and a good mindset and also a brave heart. And I assure you that, we will save our kingdom and it’s heir from the hands of the crocodiles and the rogues. Even though all he needs is a little support from us, he can’t do anything if we don’t get to him. And so, I am entrusting the life of Leo and Prince Barnabas in your mighty hands.”
Suddenly, the people begin to cheer out,
“Long live alpha Adelaide, long live prince Barnabas, long live prince Enoch, long live prince Absalom and long live prince Logan. Long live the queen!!”
The queen moves forward and bows slightly to them and then she says to them,
“And here I thought that you have forgotten to hail your Luna as well. You all should go and save our prince Barnabas and prince Leo, I will be waiting here armed with our women and children. But as you fight, don’t forget who you have left home earning for your embrace and comfort. No matter what, you must come back alive. We will be waiting for our mates, don’t disappoint us.”
She looks back in the way of the king and gives him a tight hug and then she whispers into his ears, her eyes darting in the direction of Logan who is busily giving out instructions along with Absalom.
“It’s time you reveal the truth to them all, they deserve to know the entire truth. Don’t let them find out from the rogues mouth. It will make you loose your son and the war.”
The king nods his head and looks in Logan’s way, he clenches his fist and sighs. The queen pulls from his embrace and says towards Nadia, Mia and Tilda,
“You should speak to the women and children, so we can gather them in one place and keep them safe. I am happy that I organized this event and invited most of them here but as it is, I don’t think we have everyone here so, I will go with you to the various cities and villages to make an announcement.”
The king walks to Logan who is busily giving orders to the warriors along with Absalom and he holds his hand and says to him,
“We have something to discuss, leave the rest of the matter to Absalom,… Absalom, we will be leaving in an hour, make proper arrangements. He says all the while staring at Logan who has a confused expression on.”
Nadia looks in the way of Logan and he mind links him saying to him
But then, he doesn’t argue with his father but walks with him. The king puts his clenched fists in his pockets and walks ahead of Logan. He sighs within every two seconds and Logan watches on but when he can’t take it any longer, he speaks out,
“Dad, you know we are in hurrying times, we don’t have the time to take a walk out here. If there’s and bordering my father, speak it out I am all ears.”
The king shakes his head and sighs in almost in a whisper but enough so Logan could hear him,
“You are not my son.”
Logan acts as if he hasn’t heard him and he takes a step forward and touches the king’s forehead and he whispers to himself,
“He doesn’t even have a cold or fever, what could be wrong with him?”
His mind was trying to deceive him and he thought that the old man was speaking nonsense. Otherwise, why would his own father tell him, he’s not his son? He sees that the king is looking at him intently with a knit of his eyebrows, it was like he was trying to control his feelings but failing miserably. He holds Logan’s hand and says to him,
“It’s a long story that needs to be told. But for now, I wanted you to be aware of you lineage before we went to this war. You had always found it difficult to change into a wolf and I believe this time too, it might happen while we are at war. And so, I am advising you to try to use other means to defend yourself.”
Logan shakes his head and with an anger trying to takes hold if it and replies to him,
“No, you are wrong that doesn’t happen to me anymore. But what are trying to imply here? I am not your son but whose?”
“For now, let’s put that aside.” The king replies to him looking anywhere but meeting his sight. One could see that he is trying to control his emotions and calm his shaking hands.
This infuriates Logan and he shouts out to him,
“No!! I demand an explanation now!!”
