She drank her water but she never turn her eyes away from him. She was afraid he would suddenly disappear in front of her. She wanted to savor every second they were together. The old woman stroked her hair. “Kwaenchanayo. Ul joh-ayo.” "I-I don't understand," Cheska whispered and shook her head at the old woman. She never understood Korean because the Korean dramas she watched were all dubbed in her native language. Her eyes were never quick to catch the subtitles, so it's easier for her to watch a foreign film or television series that were in English or dubbed in Tagalog. "Eoma said it's okay to cry," the man replied and bowed a little in front of her. She couldn’t believe she was actually hearing him talk. He was good at speaking in English, she could listen to him all day. Cheska gulped her water once again. “I am okay now. Kamsahamnida,” she thanked them and bowed slightly. She was happy she was able to hug Doc Darryl. She was happy they were together now. She would go with him wherever he takes her. “Where are you from?” the old woman asked. "Manila, Philippines," Cheska replied. The old woman laughed and shook her hand. “We’re from the same country. My name’s Selina and this is my son Carter.” She was a bit surprised when he heard his name instead of Darryl. “Carter? Your name is Carter?” Cheska asked him. He nodded with a slight frown. “Yes. Carter Meneses.” “Carter. Carter,” she muttered as she savored his name. It felt different to her because she could see Doc Darryl while looking at him. "W-What's your Korean name?" Maybe they would have the same names in Korean. The man shrugged. “Carter Meneses. I'm not Korean. I don’t have any amount of Korean blood in me. I only work in this country,” the man replied without hesitation. "D-Do you have any half-Korean siblings?" In his thirties and studying medicine before he died six years ago? He nodded. “Yes. Our youngest - Eun Young. She’s eighteen. Why are you asking?” "N-nothing." He was not Doc Darryl’s brother. Kinda impossible. And Doc Darryl also sent her a picture of his parents. His mother was nothing look like this Carter’s mother in front of her. "You just look like someone I know." “Is it Lee Min Ho?” he asked and touched his chin. “Well, I kinda always get that compliment.” Her lips twisted. He looked way different from Lee Min Ho. "I'm Cheska Reyes," she introduced herself and held out her hand to the man. He shook her hand tightly and wrapped his hands around hers. “Mannaseo bangawoyo. Nice meeting you, Cheska. ” She looked at him with adoring eyes. He looked like he was feeling a bit awkward with her so she let go of his hand immediately. He might be a little conservative. Holding hands is still prohibited. Need to keep calm. The important thing is that I’m not just imagining things and he’s not disappearing in front of me. “What are you doing here in Korea? Are you an OFW?” Manang Selina asked. "What kind of work do you?” “Maybe she’s looking for Kpop idols and Korean actors. Or pick up dry leaves because it's autumn now. Or maybe shout “There’s No Such Thing As Forever” at the Namsan Tower,” Carter suggested and put his hand on his jacket. She looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Because that was the same thing the irritating guy at the Immigration had told her. Does she look like a crazy fangirl? Or a bitter person maybe who even went to Korea to be even more bitter in life? If it was Doc Darryl, he would certainly not say something like that. While this Carter guy just threw judgemental words against her. "I will visit the grave of the man I love," Cheska answered, her chin raised up. There, she said it. She had told him about Doc Darryl. She finally separated the images of the two men. That they have no connection to each other whatsoever. And that Doc Darryl would never live in the person of Carter. “Oh! He’s gone?” Manang Selina whispered sadly. "I’m sorry to hear about that." “It’s fine. And yes, he was gone. We were supposed to meet in the Philippines but he didn’t make it. The car he was in met an accident and he…died on the spot.” She lowered her head and sobbed. “I promised to visit his grave here.” "What a depressing Koreanovela story,” Carter said without even a hint of sympathy in his voice. He doesn’t seem to believe her story. “I wasn’t able to attend his wake. I couldn't even say goodbye. Only now did I have the opportunity to visit him. I-it took a while but I will finally be able to keep my promise,” she said and wiped away her tears.
