He stared at her for a long time. “If problem comes up, if I have to bodily remove you out of this house, you will not refuse. You will leave this house and you will let me bring you somewhere safe upon my own discretion.” She groaned. “Carter, I'm a grown-up already. I know what’s best for me.” He backed her to the wall then pinned her with his hard stare. He also placed both his palms on either side of her head. “Why are you so stubborn? I am trying to take care of you and you make it so hard for me.” She touched both of his cheeks. “I don't need you to take care of me. I can take care of myself. I prefer to stay by your side and help you with whatever problems that you’re going through.” His forehead furrowed. “Why? I am a mess up, Czech. Why stay with me?” “Because…” Her mouth moved but she didn't know the right word to say about how she felt. She liked him a lot. But it was more than that. Because what she felt for Carter was more than he felt for Doc Darryl before. Her life was void and empty until she filled it with laughter. His messed-up life kept her grounded and alive. That she would rather stay in his chaotic world than be in her lonely boring world. Should she tell him now? Was this the right time to confess even though she still wasn’t sure what to call these feelings she had for him? But what if he got scared of her and pushed her away? What if she lost him? "Seungsan-nim, igo siurie bang?" Shin Gun asked as he stood by the door of the room. They quickly move away from each other and pretended they were fixing some home decors on the wall. She offered to help it. There were children and their parents who were depending on him. This was not the time to talk about her feelings. "Geun yoga neyoja chinguya?" asked Jae Hwa, the chubby and small one in their group. He pointed at her. He was still holding a red bean paste. “She is not my girlfriend. She will be your Math instructor, Miss Cheska Alegre,” Carter corrected them. "No food inside the room." “Aish! Geseki!” said the child and was forced to leave the room. "No bad words," Carter replied. “We will speak in English from here on. Fix your things and meet me at Room Nine for the start of our lesson after thirty minutes. We will discuss house rules and will start your English review. Do you understand?” "Yes, seungsan-nim!" the kids answered simultaneously. "What were we talking about earlier?" Carter asked as they got out of the dorm room. She shook her head. “Nothing. Maybe we need to take a bath before facing our students again ” The man sniffed himself and frowned. "Nee, seungsan-nim." CHESKA WAS SMILING as she checked the answers of their students on the reviewer. They were in the room that was turned into a makeshift classroom. Park Gung even sent two large whiteboards for them to use. The kids were on their best behavior because two of Park Gung’s men stayed in the homestay to make sure no one from the student would make any trouble. They are said they would discipline the kids if they have any complaints about their behavior. It wasn't that difficult teaching them at first. They were focused on their studies. Or at least they are trying. After checking the exercises she gave them, she talked to them one by one to know where they were having difficulties in the subject. Their subjects then were Probability and Statistics. "Great job, Lee Tuk," she praised the boy with the highlights on his hair. "You only have one error for this exercise." “I will make it perfect next time, seungsan-nim. Kamsahamnida,” he said and bowed his head. One of their ‘bodyguards’ was his father so that must be the reason why the boy looked inspired. “You’re welcome. Eat your snacks and be back after thirty minutes for your Science subject.” Eun Young would be their instructor for Science and Cheska knew the girl would be strict. “Tch! Traitors,” she heard Shin Gun who was the only one left on his seat. He Lee Tuk a sharp look. His friend was stunned and bowed. "Mianhamnida," the young man said humbly. What happened? Why did Lee Tuk have to apologize? What did he do wrong? He didn’t let Shin Gun copy his work? "Shin Gun, your paper please," she said softly to the young man. He shook his head for a while before he came up to her to pass the paper. She was disappointed to see it all blank. Looks like he's going to be their biggest problem here. “You have no answer, Shin Gun. Why? Are you having a hard time with Math? It is okay.” He didn’t budge. “Do you understand English? Do you want me to translate for you?” She took out her cellphone to type something in the translator when Shin Gun suddenly spoke. “I don’t need a translator. I can understand and speak English perfectly.” Cheska was surprised. His English was almost perfect. “O…kay. Good.” Carter said his answers to their activities earlier were all wrong and he looked like he was just guessing his answers. She should let him know what she found out today. “And please also tell Eun Young that I also know Filipino. I was born in the Philippines and grew up there. I know when she insults me.”
