Chapter 12

Dr. Harrison POV
I had just returned home after a long day at the hospital, hoping to unwind and catch some much-needed rest. As I kicked off my shoes and sank into the comfort of my couch, my phone began to ring, breaking the tranquility of the moment. I sighed and picked it up, seeing the call was from the head of the hospital.
"Hello?" I answered, my voice slightly weary.
"Dr. Harrison," the voice on the other end spoke with authority, "we have an important meeting tomorrow with the new surgeons joining our team. It will be held in Tagaytay, and we need you to attend."
Tagaytay? That was a few hours' drive from where I lived. I wondered why they couldn't hold the meeting at the hospital itself. Nevertheless, I replied, "Of course, I'll be there. Is there anything specific I need to prepare for the meeting?"
"Yes," the head continued, "we want you to bring your secretary with you. We'll be discussing the team dynamics and organization, and it's important to have the administrative staff present as well."
Sadie, as my temporary secretary. She had been a loyal and efficient assistant, helping me manage the paperwork and administrative tasks that came with being a doctor. I didn't mind her accompanying me to the meeting; in fact, I appreciated having someone I could trust by my side.
"Understood," I responded, "I'll make sure Sadie is ready to accompany me. Is there anything else I need to know about the meeting?"
"Just be prepared to discuss the hospital's goals and expectations for the new surgeons," the head instructed, "It's crucial that we establish a strong and cohesive team as we expand our medical services."
"I'll be sure to be well-prepared," I assured him.
With that, we exchanged a few more details about the meeting and the logistics of our travel to Tagaytay. Once the call ended, I called Sadie and explained the situation to her.
"hello? what the hell Samuel it's already 11" her voice sounds like i wake her up.
"sorry, this is urgent" i said
"hm? what it is?" she asked.
is she half asleep?
"I have a crucial meeting coming up in Tagaytay, and I need someone I can rely on to help me prepare. Since you are my secretary, you need to come with me."
"what if i don't?" she asked
"please, they said i needed to bring my secretary with me" i said.
There was a brief pause as she considered my request. "Alright, I'll be there to assist you with anything you need for the meeting," she said.
"Thank you, Sadie." I said gratefully. "I'll email you all the details and the agenda for the meeting. It's happening in two days, so there's not much time to spare."
"alright, i'll check it tomorrow, goodnight!" and that's when she hung up the phone.
Atleast she is coming with me, I felt a sense of relief and excitement. Having Sadie by my side during the meeting was not only practical but also brought me comfort. It was like having a piece of my past intertwined with my present, and I knew she'd be the perfect balance of professionalism and familiarity.
The next morning, we set off for Tagaytay, with the scenic drive providing a refreshing change of scenery from the hospital environment. As we reached the meeting venue, the head of the hospital greeted us warmly, introducing us to the new surgeons and other key personnel.
Throughout the meeting, Sadie and I collaborated, providing insights and support as necessary. I was glad to have her by my side, as her presence added a sense of comfort and familiarity in an otherwise new setting.
As the discussions progressed, we delved into the hospital's vision for the future and the importance of teamwork in providing the best possible care for our patients. It was an inspiring session, and I was grateful for the opportunity to be part of shaping the hospital's direction.
The meeting had been productive, and I felt a renewed sense of purpose in my role as a doctor. The drive back home was filled with reflections on the day's events, and Sadie and I chatted excitedly about the changes and improvements we hoped to see in the hospital.
As Sadie and I were about to head back to our shared living space, a vibrant and confident woman approached us. She had an air of authority and determination that was unmistakable. Her white coat bore the title "Dr. Veronica Reynolds, Surgeon."
"Hey there!" Dr. Reynolds greeted with a warm smile. "I couldn't help but notice you two seemed to be having a great time together. Are you both colleagues here at the hospital?"
I glanced at Sadie, and we exchanged a knowing look before responding. "Yes, we are," I said, introducing ourselves. "I'm Dr. Harrison, and this is Sadie, my temporary secretary."
Sadie added with a friendly smile, "Nice to meet you, Dr. Reynolds. I'm assisting Dr. Harrison during her busy schedule."
Dr. Reynolds' eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Oh, that's great to hear! It's always wonderful to have a dedicated assistant. Dr. Harrison, you're new here, right?"
I nodded, appreciating her friendly approach. "Yes, I joined the hospital not too long ago. Dr. Reynolds, are you new as well?"
She chuckled lightly. "Well, relatively speaking. I've been here for a few months now. It's been quite an exciting experience."
As we continued chatting, I couldn't help but notice how well Sadie and Dr. Reynolds seemed to get along. They had a natural ease in their conversation, and it was clear that they shared a passion for their work. I felt a sense of relief, knowing that Sadie would have good company and support in this new environment.
Throughout the conversation, Dr. Reynolds exuded a strong and confident aura. She spoke about her experiences as a surgeon and her dedication to patient care. It was evident that she was a force to be reckoned with in the medical field.
As the three of us shared stories and laughter, I felt a sense of camaraderie building between us. It was refreshing to connect with fellow professionals who were as passionate about their work as I was. I could already see the potential for a strong professional relationship with Dr. Reynolds.
As we eventually parted ways, Dr. Reynolds expressed her enthusiasm for getting to know us better and possibly collaborating on some projects in the future. Sadie and I bid her farewell, feeling grateful for the chance encounter that had introduced us to such an inspiring colleague.Walking back to our place, Sadie and I couldn't help but talk about Dr. Reynolds. We both agreed that she seemed like an incredible addition to the hospital team and someone we would enjoy working with in the future.
Little did I know that this encounter would mark the beginning of a new chapter in our lives – one filled with new friendships, challenges, and growth. And as I reflected on the day's events, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement for the possibilities that lay ahead for all three of us.
In the following weeks, as the new surgeons integrated into the team, I noticed a positive shift in the hospital's dynamics. The meeting in Tagaytay had set the stage for a more collaborative and united approach to patient care, and it was evident that the efforts made that day had a significant impact.
