The hospital room is filled with a soft glow as sunlight filters through the curtains. Nurse Sadie, a caring and gentle woman, enters the room with a warm smile. She carries a tray with medical supplies and a cheerful bouquet of colorful balloons. Gio, a young boy of around 7 years old, lies on the bed, looking weak and tired. "Good morning, Gio. How are you feeling today?" The nurse approaches the little kid. "Hi, Nurse Sadie. I still feel a bit yucky." the kid said Sadie places the tray on the bedside table and sits on a chair next to Gio's bed. She gently takes his hand in hers. "I'm sorry to hear that, but don't worry, we're here to take care of you. We'll make sure you feel better soon." she smiles, reassuring the kid that he doesn't need to worry. Gio manages a faint smile, comforted by Sadie's presence. "Mom said I ate something bad, and now my tummy hurts." the kid said, she nods. "Yes, sometimes that happens, but the important thing is you're in good hands now. We'll give you medicine to help you feel better and lots of rest." she said. Sadie picks up a stethoscope and places it gently on Gio's chest, listening intently to his heartbeat. "Does it sound okay?" the little kid is curious about it. "Your heartbeat is strong, Gio. Just like a little superhero." she softly said. Gio's eyes light up at the comparison, and he giggles softly. Sadie reaches for a thermometer and places it on Gio's forehead. "And now, let's check if you still have a little fever." Gio squirms a bit, but Sadie's soothing touch calms him down. She waits for a moment before reading the temperature. "No fever! That's a good sign, Gio." "But I still don't feel good." the kid pout Sadie brushes Gio's hair gently, giving him a reassuring smile. "I know, sweetheart. Sometimes it takes a little time to feel better. But we'll do everything we can to make you comfortable." she said patting the little kid's head. Sadie picks up a cup of water with a straw and offers it to Gio. "Here, take small sips. It will help keep you hydrated and make you feel a bit better." the nurse said. Gio nods and takes a few sips of water while Sadie watches attentively. She places the cup back on the bedside table. "And look what I brought you! These balloons will keep you company during your stay." the nurse said and give the balloon to the kid. "Wow, they're so colorful! Thank you, Nurse Sadie." the kid looks so happy while looking at those balloons. Sadie smiles, her eyes filled with genuine care. "You're welcome, Gio. Now, I'll let your parents know how you're doing. If you need anything or feel worse, just press this button, and I'll be right here." She said. Gio nods, feeling a little more at ease knowing Sadie is looking out for him. As Sadie leaves the room, Gio watches the balloons floating near the ceiling, feeling a glimmer of hope as he knows he's in good hands with Nurse Sadie by his side. Sadie POV I steps outside the hospital room where Gio's worried parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, anxiously wait. Their faces show concern and exhaustion from the ordeal. "Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, Gio is resting now. I just finished checking on him, and he's stable at the moment." i said. Mr. Johnson lets out a sigh of relief, while Mrs. Johnson wipes a tear from her eye. "Thank you, Nurse Sadie. We were so scared when we saw him in pain." Gio's mother looks so worried, "I told you not to bring him in that place" I looked at her while she's scolding her husband. Mr. Johnson didn't say anything and just listen to what his wife is saying, maybe he already realize his mistake. "I understand. Food poisoning can be quite distressing, especially for young ones like Gio. But you brought him in on time, and that's crucial for his recovery." i said. "Is he going to be, okay? Should we have come to the hospital earlier?" she asked. "You did the right thing by bringing him here as soon as you noticed something was wrong. We're doing everything we can to help him recover quickly. He's in good hands.Mrs. Johnson" i smiled reassuring her that everything will be fine. "Will he need to stay in the hospital for long?" she asked. "It's hard to say exactly how long he'll need to stay, but we'll monitor his condition closely. Our priority is to make sure he's fully recovered before he goes home." i said. "Okay, we trust you and the doctors here. Please take good care of him." I smile. "You have my word; we'll take excellent care of Gio. If there's any change in his condition, I'll inform you immediately." i said. Mrs. Johnson sniffles, so i places a comforting hand on her shoulder. "I know this is tough, but remember that Gio is a strong little fighter. He's in a safe environment, and we'll do our best to make him comfortable during his stay." i comforted her, its normal for her to be emotional. i understand. "Thank you, Nurse Sadie. You've been so kind." she smiles at me. "It's my pleasure. I care deeply for all the kids here, including Gio. If there's anything you need or any questions you have, don't hesitate to ask." i said. "We'll do that. Thanks again for being here for Gio." she said. I nods warmly and gives the parents a supportive smile. "You're welcome. Now, try to get some rest yourselves. I'll be right here if you need anything." i reassured them. The Johnsons nod gratefully as I turns to head back into my office, leaving the parents with a sense of relief knowing their child is in caring hands. but as soon as I enter the office another nurse approach me. "Nurse Sadie, the head nurse wants to talk to you" Sheryl, one of the nurses here in Harmony Medical Hospital. "ohh, alright. thankyou" i said and give her a warm smile before heading to the office of our head nurse. I knock three times before entering the office. "yes Ms?" she looked at me and signal the chair infront of me "take a seat, i need to talk to you about something" she said, so i nod and sit down. "about what, ms?" i said. "you see, i am very grateful that you became one of our nurses here, your dedication and kindness means a lot to everyone." she said "yeah?" i am confused on what this is all about. "but, we received an email from the Tranquil Valley Hospital yesterday, they are requesting for a transfer cause they believe that we have the perfect candidate for that" she said "really? wow, that's a good news then" i smiled "but.. they are requesting you" she said. "me? what? why me?" i am so confuse right now "well, It seems they've heard about your exceptional care and dedication to the patients here." she said. a mixture of emotions washes over me, i don't know what to feel right now. I am so confuse and grateful at the same time. Tranquil Valley Hospital is a big hospital in Manila. They are also the top hospital in there. "wait, are they sure about that?" i asked. i literally can't believe that they are choosing me instead of the other nurses here. "Yes, Sadie. They are impressed with your skills and compassion, and they believe you would be a valuable addition to their team. and, You totally deserve this! They'll be lucky to have you. but don't worry you can think it over, Sadie. It's a significant decision, but we support you no matter what you choose." she said. "yes, thank you" i said. As soon as i leave that room, my mind is full of questions. I am so grateful that they appreciate me as a nurse but i am deeply connected to the patients and staff here, i think it'll be a hard one for me to decide on what to choose between the two. As the day goes on, I find myself torn between my loyalty to my current hospital and the enticing opportunity at Tranquil Valley. "I think i need to talk to Hailey about this one" i whisper. Hailey is one of my closest colleague and friend. "Sadie, this is a chance of a lifetime. Tranquil Valley is renowned, and it's an incredible opportunity for you to grow in your career." she replied immediately. "I know, Hailey, but I've built relationships here. The patients and staff mean so much to me." i said. "Change is always hard, but remember, we'll always be friends no matter where you go. And you'll continue making a difference in patients' lives, wherever you are." she said. As the days pass, I contemplates my options and discusses my feelings with my family and loved ones. Eventually, I decides to accept the offer from Tranquil Valley Hospital, knowing it's a chance to further my impact and grow as a nurse. In my farewell gathering at the hospital, my colleagues and patients express their heartfelt gratitude and bid me a teary farewell, understanding the great opportunity that awaits for me. "goodluck to your next journey in Tranquil Valley, Nurse Sadie!" my friend, Ash approach me. I am just sitting in the corner while looking at them. gosh, im gonna miss this. I'm gonna miss them. "thank you Ash" She sits beside me. "so? Are you excited?" she asked. "i don't know, I don't know what to feel right now," i" said, she just chuckled and looked at me "you know, it's normal to feel nervous and it's a great opportunity for you," she said "I know, but i worked here for more than 3 years, it's not that easy to leave you guys" I said "aww, don't worry, Hailey and I will come to visit you," she said and hugged me. "I'll miss you both" i hugged her back. The scene ends with Sadie looking back at the hospital, feeling a mix of nostalgia and excitement for the new chapter that lies ahead.
