A Christmas Surprise Patresiah, a sixteen-year-old girl from the city, was used to a life of fancy clothes and lots of fun. She never thought she'd spend Christmas in her grandparents' small village. Her parents, Amelia and Richard Smith made her come every year, but Patresiah just wanted to be back in the city with all its lights and excitement. Christmas Eve came, and the village was all decked out for the holidays. Patresiah wore a fancy dress that felt out of place among all the simple, country people. She missed her own home, but her parents said it was important to be with family. As it got dark, Patresiah went for a walk to get away from all the noise. The air was cold and smelled like pine trees. She looked at the lights in the town square. Suddenly, a bunch of kids came up to her, hiding their faces. They wanted her money and sounded mean. Patresiah was scared and held onto her purse tightly. Just as she thought she was going to be robbed, a young guy, Deo, came out of the darkness. He looked angry and stood between Patresiah and the kids. His voice was deep and scary, and the kids ran away. Patresiah was safe, but she was still shaking. Deo smiled shyly and introduced himself. He was a local boy, and his life was very different from Patresiah's. But in that moment, under the Christmas lights, they felt something special between them. This was the start of their story, a Christmas surprise in the village, a love story that began in a simple, beautiful place.
