Chapter 17 Deo's braveness to reach up Patresiah (he has been accident)
When Deo reached Dawis, he went to his relative's house and went online to tell Patresiah that he already arrived.
Just as he was about to message her, he saw her message stated that she had already left. He quickly typed back, "I'll chase after you just to give you my gift and talk to you for a little while. Even for 2 minutes, I'm okay with that."
Patresiah didn't respond, so Deo decided to just follow them.
Meanwhile, Patresiah's dad was driving fast because they wanted to eat first before 8:00 coz they didn't have breakfast yet.
As Deo chased after Patresiah's car, he didn't know what color it was or how to tell it was hers. He just prayed that Patresiah's car window would be open so he could see her.
A few hours later, Patresiah and her family were already in Tanjay. Deo was still in Bais. A few minutes later, there was traffic, making Patresiah's dad stop. Deo, however, continued driving and overtook the cars in front of him.
The traffic woke Patresiah up because her parents were getting noisy. She checked her phone and saw Deo's message.
She couldn't explain the joy she felt for him and said to herself that Deo was the man she was going to love.
She promised herself that if Deo caught up to them, she would be brave and tell her dad to stop the car even just for a while.
In other side, Deo was speeding on his motorcycle, focused on driving. He only saw Patresiah's message because his phone was on his phone holder, right near the handlebars.
He was so focused on driving fast to catch up that he didn't stop to reply. Instead, he just sped up even more.
He was driving so fast but Patresiah called, he reached for his phone but didn't see the car parked in front of him and he crashed and lost consciousness.
Meanwhile, Patresiah kept calling, but Deo didn't answer. She started to lose hope.
She started thinking that maybe Deo was just messing with her. She put her phone back in her bag.
She just stared out the window, telling herself not to trust anyone anymore and to just forget about Deo. She thought he was just playing her feeling and didn't take anything seriously.
She was angry at Deo and told herself that if he was just playing her heart then better to forgot than to regret soon.
She told herself to stop hoping for something that will never be come true and to just enjoy the rest of her day tomorrow at taal.
Meanwhile, on the other side, people were helping to save Deo. Few minutes after , the rescue team arrived and took Deo to the hospital.
As Patresiah and her parents was already near at Dumaguete and then a really loud ambulance passed by. She looked at it curiously and thought to herself, "Is there someone being taken to the hospital every day?"
She didn't know that Deo was inside that ambulance. While on her side , she was trying to forget about Deo, thinking he had just been playing with her only.
When they reached Dumaguete, it was almost 8 pm, so they went straight to the airport. A private plane was waiting for them, and a few minutes later, they took off for Manila.
Patresiah was happy again while on the plane and completely forgot about Deo.
When they arrived in Manila, they had breakfast and booked a hotel room.
"Mom, I want to sleep first because we woke up so early this morning," she said.
"Okay, go ahead and sleep. I'm going to take a shower," her mom replied.
While Patresiah was sleeping, her dad went out to buy dessert and some snacks for then and Zhian goes with him.
When Patresiah woke up, she was greeted with a feast! There was dessert, rice, lechon belly, cake, ice cream, milk tea, seafood, and more!
"This is amazing! All my sadness is gone. Thanks, Mom, thanks, Dad," she said, hugging her parents one by one.
"There's no reason to be sad, honey. Your dad fulfilled your wish to go up the top of taal tomorrow, so you should be happy," her mom said.
"That's right, Mom. Thanks, Dad. I really appreciate you," she hug her dad again.
"You're very welcome, my princess. Now, let's eat because we're going to Baguio later. Let's try some food there."
"Really, Daddy?" Patresiah asked excitedly.
"Yes, honey. Your mom and I decided while you were sleeping in the car earlier."
"Yes, honey. Your dad is right, so eat up because we'll have fun later."
Patresiah was so happy that she completely forgot about Deo.
Meanwhile, Deo was in the emergency center and would soon be transferred to the ICU.
Patresiah had no idea how much Deo loved her. She so easily forgot about the person who did everything to be with her.
She didn't know that Deo was still unconscious in the hospital, while she was getting angry at him.
Deo's mom was crying uncontrollably, and then a man approached her and handed her Deo's phone, saying, "We brought him here and I'm the one who found his phone."
Deo's mom took the phone, thanking the man while still crying. She tried to open it, but it had a password, and the screen has been damaged too.
Deo's mom continued to crying, while Deo remained unconscious. On the other side , Patresiah was on the way to Baguio with her mom and dad.
Once they arrived in Baguio, Patresiah let out all her anger towards Deo in one big, frustrated scream. Then, she turned to her mom and said, "Let's explore this place!"
"Slow down, honey. You're too excited," her dad said. "Baguio is beautiful, and it's cold. There's a lot of food you can try." Said of her mom.
Patresiah and her parents had a great time. They tried strawberry wine and craft beer, strawberry taho, strawberry sinigang, beef kinunday, dried pork, and ube jam.
They also visited Mirador Hill and Eco Park, Igorot Stone Kingdom, Tam-awan Village, Baguio Walking Tour, Diplomat Hotel, and BenCab Museum in Tuba. They stayed out until 9 PM the because it's already 9 so they decided to over night in Baguio.
In the morning, they returned to the hotel and relaxed because they were going to watch the fireworks display in coming night at Taal Volcano.
While Deo was in the hospital and had been moved to the ICU already.
The doctor said Deo needed blood because he'd lost a lot of it. He couldn't walk yet. They also needed to prepare 1.8 million pesos for his surgery because he had a brain injury from the impact.
The doctor warned that there was a high possibility that Deo might not survive.
The doctor also said that Deo could lose his memory, so they needed to operate on him as soon as possible.
"Mrs. Thomson, we need to operate on your son next week before it's too late. The decision is yours now," the doctor said.
"Doc, please do everything you can to save my son. I beg you," Deo's mother pleaded, tears streaming down her face.
"That's why we need the money. Since I'm also live from Bayawan, I'll give you a grace period. We'll do the operation even if you haven't paid yet, but you need to pay within three weeks."
"Thank you so much, Doc. I promise you, I will," Deo's mother said and after that the doctor left.
Deo's mother didn't know how she would find the money. She had no idea where she could get that much within three weeks.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Patresiah checked her phone to see if Deo had sent any messages. She got really angry because there wasn't a single one. What she didn't know was that Deo was in the ICU, struggling for his life, because of her.
Patresiah couldn't understand how Deo could play with her feelings like that. She kept asking herself why, out of all the people she could have loved, it had to be Deo.
She admitted to herself that she had a great time in Baguio, but all the sadness came back because of Deo. She tried to calm herself down and just relax because they were going to Taal after three hours.
She stalked Deo's account to see if he had posted anything new, but there was nothing, and he wasn't online. She started to think that he had truly played with her feelings.
Angry and frustrated, she turned off her phone and forced herself to sleep so she wouldn't think about Deo anymore.
Meanwhile, Deo's mom was struggling with the thought of asking for help from others. Just then, Deo's brother, John, arrived. His mom told him about the 1.8 million needed for the surgery. John was shock and cried then few minutes he decided to post on Facebook for help, hoping someone would be kind enough to donate even just a small about so his kuyah can survive.
John took a picture of his brother, Deo, and posted it on Facebook, tagging Deo and their other relatives.
"Mom, I already posted it," John said. "Why did this happen to Kuya? I thought he was going to Dawis only . What did he do in Sibulan?" John asked, his voice cracking with tears.
"I don't know either, anak," his mother said, her voice filled with sorrow. "But thankfully, someone helped us. We'll just find the money. Let's let him tell us what happened when he's better."
"Let's call Dad too ma, Maybe he'll help Kuya, even though he left us for someone else." John said.
"He left us a long time ago. If he really loved us, he wouldn't have gone back to America," his mother said sadly.
John felt a pang of sadness coz his mother was right. For him even both of them are half-Filipino but they doesn't have a true sense of belonging or a complete family. Instead of asking his father for help, he continued to post on social media, hoping to raise funds for his brother.
Deo's mother always over time to her work, while John dropped out of school to get a job so he could also earn money for his brother and his grandmother and his mother's sister stayed by Deo's side, taking care of him.
Even though it was New Year's Eve, Deo spent the night in the hospital with his family, praying for his recovery. Meanwhile, Patresiah enjoyed her time in Baguio, leaving her phone at the hotel to avoid the temptation to check on Deo and feel sad.
Patresiah was having a blast! She was mingling with other foreign tourists, even taking selfies with them.
Meanwhile, Patresiah's parents were enjoying themselves as well. A few minutes later, the announcer announced that the fireworks contest would start in ten seconds.
Patresiah joined in the countdown, and at zero, the fireworks display began!
The fireworks were spectacular, with different shapes and colors lighting up the sky and for her it was the most amazing New Year's Eve of her life!
Deo remained unconscious, unaware of the celebrations happening around him. Patresiah, lost in her own happiness, had momentarily forgotten about Deo, caught up in the excitement of the night.
Patresiah was blissfully unaware that the person who loved dearly was lying in a hospital bed, fighting for his life, with an uncertain future.
She convinced herself that Deo was happy with someone else, and that she had no reason to be sad because there's nothing in the two of them.Download Novelah App
