Episode 19
★ Tina's POV★
"Your friend Zara, is dead, Do you want the same fate?" he asked in a menacing voice.
I gasped for breath, feeling like I might pass out. "No..." I managed to say, shaking my head.
"Good. Then stay quiet and watch what we're going to do. Otherwise, you'll end up like her," he threatened, his dark eyes piercing into mine. I couldn't help but cry uncontrollably.
So, just like that, the poor girl was dead. After all the suffering she had endured, I felt sorry that my mom had gotten involved. She was the cause of it all.
Now, I couldn't help but wonder why everyone was against her. Who were these guys, and what did they want from her?
"Excuse me, what did she do that made you guys kill her?" I asked, terrified. He responded with a deadly smile.
"She did exactly what this baby here did, or even less," he said, referring to my little brother.
"And what exactly does that mean?" I asked, fear taking over. "Well, you'll find out soon enough," he replied, and I already knew he was talking about killing my little brother.
"Please, don't hurt my little brother. He hasn't done anything wrong. Take me instead and let him go, please," I pleaded, tears streaming down my face. He smirked, stepping closer and grabbing my cheeks.
"You are of no use to us whatsoever! I don't want to hear your voice again, or you'll regret it," he threatened.
I covered my mouth with my hands, desperately trying to stay quiet. I didn't want my brother's life to be in danger. It was all because of him that I was here in the first place.
I could have been in school right now, instead of being trapped in this nightmare. If only I had known, I wouldn't have ended up here.
Zara, as far as I could see, was already dead. So, what was the point of risking my own life again? Not only was my life at stake, but also the life of someone I was willing to die for.
All hope seemed lost, as I realized there was no way for me to escape this situation.
As I watched them performing some sort of ritual around my brother, I wondered if I should just shout for help. But Bethel's warning echoed in my mind.
"If you scream, we'll kill him on the spot, and you won't make it out alive either," Bethel threatened, knowing just how much I cared for my little brother.
And I was do surprised at how he seemed to be able to read my thoughts.
"You're surprised, aren't you?" he asked, but I didn't respond. I could only stare at him.
"Oh, you are. Come on, don't be. Don't you realize you're living among chaotic people? And don't you know that you are one of them?" he inquired, and I stared at him in astonishment.
It was as if I possessed a power of chaos, but I had never known or experienced anything about it.
"Don't bother racking your brain because you don't have the power of chaos. You've only been gifted with knowledge, which is utterly useless to you and your family," he stated, instilling fear within me.
Benita had said something similar to me before, and now, hearing it from another person, I couldn't help but feel scared.
"Don't be surprised. Your mother has already created a world of misery that will ultimately ruin your life," he said, as he picked up my brother and moved to the other side of the couch, sitting close to his friend.
"Can you please explain further?" I asked, to which he smirked. "It's admirable that you want to know, but seeking answers will only lead to your miserable demise."
He repeated the same terrifying vision that Aunty Benita had described: my head severed, blood spilling into the sky, and falling helplessly. I started to suspect that these guys were somehow connected to her.
They were trying so hard to make me believe their words, but no, there was no way I could die like that.
"And I'm afraid there's nothing you can do about it! The opportunity to prevent it has already passed! Why didn't you stop your mom from killing that woman?" he questioned. In that moment, I knew he was referring to Zara's mother.
Tears streamed down my face, and I found myself believing that what this guy was saying was true. How could he possibly know what I was thinking?
"Because I have the power to," he proclaimed once again, prompting me to gather the courage to speak up. "I did everything I could to give Zara and her mom a better life. So why should I suffer for something I didn't do!?" I retorted, knowing deep down that this was the very fate they were describing.
"You did your best, but your best wasn't enough to save them. And what good would it have done anyway?" he remarked, as tears continued to flow.
I began to suspect that Zara was the mastermind behind all of this. After everything I had done for her, was she really ungrateful enough to set me up?
"So, you guys are actually working for Zara, right?" I asked, as Bethel smiled and exchanged glances with the others.
"Are you deaf? We said Zara is dead. We killed her," he declared, causing fear to shake every fiber of my being. It took all the strength I had to keep breathing.
"If you're not working for her, then why the hell do you have my brother and me? Please, just let us go," I pleaded, hoping for a glimmer of mercy. He shook his head in response.
"Well, we might let you go, but the baby stays because he's exactly what we're looking for, the reason we killed Zara," he revealed. It suddenly dawned on me that Aunty Benita was also after David for the same reason.
But I couldn't fathom what it was about David that made him so sought after by everyone.
"That's..." Bethel interrupted my thoughts, and I looked at him, realizing that he had once again penetrated my mind.
"Benita was after the wrong person. She won't find what she's looking for in David because it's not him who possesses it; it's Zara," he divulged.
"And as for me... I need David to restore my power of immortality as the Prince of Persia," he disclosed, leaving me utterly shocked by his revelation.
"Do you want to restore your powers or do you want to steal them?" I questioned, causing him to react with anger.
"It's my power!" he yelled at me. "Then why do you need my brother to restore it? Do you have to kill him first for it to work? That means you're stealing it, not reclaiming it!" I argued, further provoking his anger.
"How dare you shout back at me! Are you out of your mind? Don't forget that you are of no use to me!" he shouted, grabbing me by the neck and lifting me up.
"No!! No!!! Noo!!!! Ah!! Please!" I pleaded, already feeling my consciousness slipping away. I desperately gripped his hand with both of mine, but I couldn't break free.
"Please!" I managed to weakly cry out, as I felt myself fading away. Finally, he released his grip, and I fell from his grasp.
"Huff! Huff!" I groaned, gasping for air, the pain radiating through my body.
He looked at the guy sitting behind him. "John," Bethel called out.
"Yes?" he responded. "Get rid of her. She's of no use. It's time to restore our kingdom," he ordered.
"No, stay away from me..."Download Novelah App
