CHAPTER 17

"Wait! Adonis!" Keyla shouts as she runs down the hallway.
Adonis halted and turned around, he noticed Keyla grasping to get oxygen after following him
Adonis said, "You didn't have to run; you could have just walked."
"You walk so fast, I couldn't keep up; anyway, here's your handkerchief; thank you for letting me borrow it," Keyla remarked as she offered him his handkerchief.
Adonis merely gazed at the piece of fabric and replied, "That's fine, you are free to keep that."
"No, no, I am unable to keep something that isn't mine; lending it to me for the time being is enough, and don't fret, I cleaned it earlier in the day, so it's absolutely clean."
Adonis remained silent as he carefully took the handkerchief from her hands.
"I appreciate it so much," Keyla stated as she lowered her head.
"No problem," Adonis responded before he walked away.
Keyla watched him go as she stood there, with a smile forming upon her lips.
Sage, Trixi, and Vaughn, on the other hand, attended a swordsmanship class together. Sage examined Trixi while she warmed herself on the side, before she scoffed.
Vaughn and Trixi both stare at her in unison.
"I am dumbfounded that I'm in the exact same class with both of you," Sage stated.
Trixi responded, "It's alright if you aren't fond of us; simply relocate your sour disposition somewhere else."
Sage was silent; she merely glared at Trixi then stormed away. Vaughn fixed his attention on Trixi, who seemed to be irritated by Sage's behavior. He was going to say something when an educator whistled the tip of his whistle.
"Students, gather here," he said, "I am professor Neffari Varon, a paladin, and I'm your instructor in this curriculum."
"You're a paladin? So, you must have encountered Laurince Madris?" a student wonders.
"Indeed, we're the members of the Division of Paladins, and Madris is the most respected of us all, however he left the division decades ago," Professor Neffari explained.
Sage inquires, "His daughter passed eighteen years ago, right?"
"Yes, however aside from that, I do not know anything about Laurince Madris," he answered, "but it's lovely to know that his granddaughter is attending this institution. I heard she took classes in Swords and Craft II curriculum, which is advantageous to her. Anyway, in today's lesson, I'm going to teach you the fundamentals of swordsmanship. Based on what I had observed throughout the admission process a few days prior, those students who used swords weren't snappy enough, their posture is not great, and the techniques are not powerful enough. Now, pick up any swords you like."
Everyone proceeded to select the weapons that were in front of them one by one. Vaughn selects the viking age sword, Trixi selects the sidesword, and Sage selects the willow-leaf sabre
"Now you must ensure that your physical body is in good condition," Professor Neffari says.
"Everyone knew that already, can we proceed onto the portion where we are required to do things so we can collect our bloody points?" Sage commented.
Professor Neffari's face darkens. He promptly raised his left arm and smacked Sage's back after teleporting behind her in just a second.
Sage cries in anguish and drops the weapon.
"See? You cannot even deflect that simple attack," Professor Neffari stated.
The group of alchemists rush towards Sage in order to heal her.
"Remember, learners, you shall not think highly of yourselves; the mere fact that you passed your admission in this institution does not imply that you're ahead of anyone; weaklings tend to be more arrogant than those who's powerful; you came here in order to get stronger, isn't that correct?"
"Yes, professor!" the pupils all agreed.
"Then, do 70 push ups! Those who can complete 70 push ups before the lesson finishes will receive ten points," Professor Neffari adds before blowing the whistle again.
Sage scowled and murmured, "This is absurd."
"Just do it, Sage," Vaughn urges calmly.
Sage rolled her eyes before starting doing push ups. Professor Neffari wanders around, observing the students struggle to complete the training. Outside the window, he spotted a flying eagle carrying a piece of paper within its claw.
He slid the window open and grabbed the letter. His eyes widened as he perused the words in the letter. He must convey the devastating news to Professor Vhobri as quickly as possible.
He motioned his assistant to keep an eye on the learners for him, and his assistant nodded and started looking over the students.
Trixi noticed him disappear into thin air. He teleported, did he not? She asks to herself. She turned around shortly after hearing Sage and Vaughn arguing at each other.
"You will hurt yourself if you continue to do it like that---"
"Quiet! I know what I'm doing!"
Trixi remarked, "Professor Nefari left the room."
"So?" Sage grumbled as she struggled to lift her upper body.
"I am intrigued regarding the letter; he seems concerned."
"You are undoubtedly overthinking things excessively, princess," Sage replies.
"I just feel an awful vibe concerning that letter."
"Whatever is inside that letter, it's none of our concern."
"What if it is about the situation that happened just a few days ago?"
"Oh, please, that incident has been properly taken care of by the government, and the Spipoiary has been restored to a better state at this moment."
"However, the way he reacted upon reading the letter is somewhat concerning,"
"Like I said, it's no longer our problem, princess; let the grown-ups handle it; we're mere pupils and we can't help or do anything about it."
"Ladies, calm yourselves and pretend the discussion didn't take place," Vaughn interjected.
As Trixi sighed, Vaughn gave her a gentle pat on the back and stated, "There's no need to fret about it. If it's a matter that could impact us all, the professors are going to alert us all."
"I certainly hope so," Trixi said.
Sage just rolled her eyes and commence to do the push up. She spotted the supervisor, Markvert Genesis, outside of the window. He was reading a book and seemed to be comfortable while flying outside. Sage then gazed upon Vaughn, whose also had wings, and recalled someone dear to her.
Professor Neffari showed up outside Professor Vhobri's office, he knocked on the door, and requested, "Sir, may I have a word with you?"
Professor Vhobri then responded, "Make your way in, professor Neffari."
Neffari gently unlocked the door and placed the piece of paper on Vhobri's table. Professor Vhobri was taken aback as he read the contents of the letter.
"It appears that they're on the move,  Laurince's grandchild is not safe," Neffari stated.
"We cannot allow them inhabit the Spipoiary; it's an ancient sanctuary for a reason, and if Damion gets his hands on the Spipoiary, there is no telling what he may do."
