When We're Alone

The next day, Renesmee Fuentes quietly sat on her seat near the window and gaze beneath the school ground, observing the other students strolling on the fields whilst some had their bondings with their friends. Rumors and gossips began to spread on the entire school campus and the workers are afraid, she put on her earphone and her dazzling earrings which are golden coated had their perfect show off, upon deciding to listen to certain songs she mostly likes to hear, she often reason it out as a nice thing to do whenever she appears to be avoiding all the murmurs which surrounded her.
She took a glimpse on her stainless steel silver crystal watch and looked at the time, "Perhaps I won't be attending my work this lunchtime, I'll do it in the evening." She mumbled and took a notebook from her bag.
She springs to write something into her notes and reads it right after. Unable to focus, she erases her writing jot and jots down all the ideas that keep on bothering her. As her hand guides the pen throughout the empty pages, she pauses upon sensing someone behind her. "You've got a nice penmanship," a voice of a guy spoke, 'those familiar voices, damn… what is he up to?'
She gradually took off one of her earbuds and turned her head to behold the face of a man with a wide grin on his lips. "What do you want?" She asks with a cold tone of voice.
"I'm just curious why you're so relaxed despite hearing all the rumors about Bella's death," he stated which made her freeze on her seat. The lass threw him a deadly glare as if to be pierced down by the man before him and behold his lifeless body on the ground.
"Stop mentioning her name, she's dead now, give her peace." She responded and attempted to focus her mind back to her writings, she let her hand lead the pen and jot down random words yet her eyes widened upon seeing the last word she wrote.
"Death? I see…" and his grin became even wider, he let out a chuckle and before walking away, he left a message to her.
"... You'll be doomed once they found out it was all you," he whispered and Fuentes gritted her teeth in discomfort. Her glare followed him as he roughly walked out of the room, she cussed and put back her earphones.
"I'll definitely get rid of that guy," she muttered and held tightly on the chained necklace of diamond on her neck.
Her eyes can't be taken off from the delicate objects that the superior decided to place on the pathway of the school, wherever she shifts her sight, those alluring items are everywhere and it eventually captured her heart.
As the class began, she practiced herself to never entertain negative thoughts in her mind. Concentrating on the discussions, she felt relieved and she deeply sensed the warmth in her heart with gladness.
"Class, allow me to say this first before we could even start our lesson… so this week, it's unexpected to know that one of my students suddenly disappears without any traces, her parents has become worried…" the teacher stood in front and gaze on her the students, the suspense could be seen on their complexion.
"I know that our society is tough and risky, we are freely living with criminals in our community. We don't know if they're one of us, or if we encounter them in our daily lives or had the chance to be with them," she continued.
"In our case today, it's very important to always be careful. We're not safe but we need to be secured. The cops didn't find anything suspicious as they had their investigation, and they were roaming around the city to search for Bella," she added.
"Today, I can see that you're studying very well, and I am expecting everyone to freely answer my questions. We won't be having a one-hour class but let's just have our review of what we recently learned yesterday. So, are you ready for class?" The students' attention was all focused in front and some shifted their sight having to have eye contact with their adviser.
"... What are the different contemporary art forms?" The teacher asked the crowd and gawked at the entire class to see somebody to be selected to respond to her question.
A student from the front row raised her left hand and stood up confidently, "Painting?" She doubtedly answered before having a seat.
"Anything else?"
"Sculpture and land art…"
Many raised their hands to answer yet Fuentes remained at the back of the row and watched her classmates take turns to respond. She never likes to participate, yet upon seeing how competitive the class is, she couldn't help herself but be challenged.
"It is beyond words, and it has the power to speak through people's mind, heart and soul…" the teacher once again spoke, and before anyone could raise their hands, Fuentes hastened herself to stand up and cause the class to glance at her.
"Music…" She responded and had her seat.
"Very good… anyone else? Next question, it is a technique used to make the sculpture more durable and transferable from one place to another without any breaking."
"Ma'am," a guy stood up as he raised his hand, before answering the question he adjusted his thick glasses and smirked. "That technique would be casting…" he retorted and sat back on his seat.
Fuentes cussed once more when their eyes met and he winked at her. Irritation upon what occurred she averted her gaze and once again stared beneath the ground of the campus. "I haven't seen Oliver around," she whispered.
When the class was over, she hastily got off the chair and led her way outside the room. Unfortunately, her classmate, Finn Coleman chased her and held her hand. She automatically turned back to look at him and a glare plastered on her face. "What now?" She asked, and escaped from his grip.
"Let's have lunch together," he requested and her brows met upon hearing his words.
"Not now, Finn." She responded and passed by him, 'this guy is creeping me out again, he's capable of telling everyone about my secret…'
As she glanced at his annoying smirks, she eventually sighed and nodded her head. "Okay, fine… what now?" She hissed and rolled her eyes at him.
"Let's go to the cafeteria, it's my treat." He retorted and flashes his wide grin, irritated upon his complexion, Fuentes shrugs off her shoulders and walks ahead of him.
Upon arriving at the cafeteria, the guy, Finn Coleman, rushed his way into the counter and ordered their food. "Hi, Esme! You're having a date with Finn, huh? You're so lucky, girl." A student who just arrived at the entrance stated, she rolled her eyes once again and lightly flipped her hair.
Their tables are located beside the window glass and as she gazes outside, her sight catches the man she has been looking for, Oliver Tycho. After minutes of waiting, her companion finally arrived with a tray, his presence snatched her attention and so she glanced at him. "You took minutes," she commented.
"I'm sorry for that, I've got the number eleven so I have to wait for my name to be called and have my order as well." He explained and gently placed the plates on the metallic furniture, the two of them had their lunch and appeared to talk about what recently occurred.
"... It's been days since Bella's death, what can you say about it?" Finn Coleman uttered which made Fuentes glimpse on his countenance.
"You're the one who disposed of the body, how did you feel right after doing it?" And she made a smirk which eventually made his lips parted, recalling that what he did as he obeyed her had been a nightmare, he could not sleep well due to the corpse's countenance which often flashes in his mind every night.
"... You're the one who's behind all of this, Renesmee." He throws cold stares at her yet she simply smirks at him.
"Yet you let me use you, how fun is that?" She uttered, offended by what she spoke, he leaned his back on the chair and averted his gaze from her.
Renesmee Fuentes focused her sight on him and a wide smile beam on her edges, she leaned her elbow on the table and neared at the man sitting before her. "We made a deal, Finn… the moment you open your mouth to the public, I'll surely end your life." She muttered and he froze on his seat, unable to blink an eye at what he heard.
After a threatening lunch, as usual, she hurried herself to the science building. She had her entrance and as her feet stroll on the tiled floor, her sight was astonished to behold the elegant view. "Fascinating," she mumbled, and her hand trails on the delicate glass of aged articles.
"I found you, finally." A throaty voice from behind spoke, and it gave chills down her spine knowing that it was owned by the man he likes.
"Why are you looking for me?" She asked as she stopped herself from smiling, his presence gave her the chills.
He shifted his gaze and mumbled something, he put his hands on his purse and attempted to enunciate a word. "... I just found myself looking for your beauty," he plainly spoke and caused her heart to keep on throbbing thrillingly.
"I can see that you are fond of studying such an elegant view," he retorted upon witnessing how sparks are visible on her irises as she stares at the costly items before them.
"No… I just like how good their quality is, the golds and diamonds they've worked on to put this wonderful piece together." She commented and lowered her head, 'Did I mess up? Or am I too obvious?'
"Expensive pieces of stuff are your thing?" He uttered and she took a glimpse in his direction, puzzled and anxious of what might happen ahead.
"Not really," she lied.
"I see,"
"The school holder must have been dealing with a huge amount of money to buy this entire stuff," he spoke once more, her eyes gazing at him and she saw how his complexion changed.
"Well, she must have been very troubled on how to get rid of her cash," and she chuckled, Fuentes lightly shook her head and averted her gaze from Oliver Tycho.
"... Money is important, it can buy everything you want," Fuentes commented, and let out a smile on her lips yet upon seeing the countenance of her companion, her smiles fade.
"But it can push you to do evil," he retorted and she froze on her location, baffled by what he responded to her.
"You know… it might give you happiness but it's merely temporary, if the desire is out of control it eventually ruins lives," He continued.
She remained silent and thoughts were running inside her head. "Money is a terrifying thing," he added and his words pierced down her chest, making her suffocate.
"It is," she agreed on and a bitter smile escape from her edges.
The man glimpses his watch, "It's getting late, it is nice to see you again, Res. Thank you for your time but I need to go, I will be attending my next class, see you around." He grinned at her and turned his back from her, walking away and leaving her alone in the building.
"She's cute when she's surprised," he mumbled and smirked as he got off from the place.
Renesmee Fuentes stood still on her location and was dumbfounded. Minutes passed by and she finally got back on her senses, she once again admired the beauty of the entire room and turned her back to get out of the place. Her feet led her way into her favorite spot, the old gallery.
Upon arriving at the entrance, her heart as if quit from thudding the moment she glimpses of her pal, Keegan Colson. The same thrill is all she could feel, she saw her sitting alone on the couch as she quietly brushes her waist-length hair.
"How have you been, Kee?" She plainly questioned as she trails her feet toward her direction, the moment she gaze at her countenance, she felt terrified.
"... Hey, you look so pale again, didn't you eat anything? I bought you some food and clothing, what did you do again?" She hastily grabbed her attention and gently held her hands, which made Colson gaze at her.
"Hi," she greeted and forced a smile, the stinging pain inside her head kept on bugging her, and her body seemed to weaken as days passed by.
"How are you?" Fuentes questioned once again.
"... I don't know, my whole body is in pain, my mind is in pain, something's flashing inside my head but I could not figure out what it's all about." She responded yet her voice was shaking, as her knees started to tremble.
"... I told you that you need to get back to the hospital where you came from," Fuentes spoke and took an apple from the paper bags she brought last night. "Here, eat this, it might somewhat help you."
"I keep hearing voices, do I appear to be crazy?"
"No, you're not… you're just a simple addict who always asks for favors. I told you to never take any drugs because it can ruin your mindset, you're so hardheaded." She scolded her and so she gazed at her with her cold stares. That threatened Fuentes, she stepped back and sat on the stool before her.
Silence filled the entire room and they switched gazes, their hearts kept on throbbing fast as if they were chased by mares. "Can I tell you a secret?" She suddenly spoke and caught the attention of her companion.
"... What is it?"
"Do you know that the saddest thing about betrayal isn't how you got betrayed, but by who?" She uttered and she held her hand and tightly gripped it.
"It's not even a secret, Kee."
"Is that one of your memories?" The lady asked as she straightly glanced at her companion, curious as she is, she leaned closer and had the chance to look at her irises.
"I don't know, perhaps every one of us experiences it."
"You know what, Esme? I rather want to be ruined a little more than I want to be loved." A grin let go of her lips, "The world doesn't show true love, it simply shows off the pain, there's no such thing as true love." She added and gaze at her friend's complexion, admiring the abstract-like art before her.
"Even your heart screams for lies," Fuentes' eyes rounded and hastened to avert her sight from her, she stood up and pretended to roam around the room.
"If you have somebody to be with, whom you can simply trust and believe, let me ask this question… would you even expect them to stay?" Upon hearing her question, she froze on her feet and a tear fell from her eyes as if a river flowed down her cheek.
'I have no one to be with me, but if I ever found somebody whom I can trust, I'd rather do everything just for them to stay.'
