“You have a lot of explaining to do young lady,” Nana said
“I don’t want to gossip since it was his personal life. Things just happened and I wasn’t aware they had a problem since he never told me. He visits here sometimes with the baby which I don’t find odd.”
“He has been visiting here? Why am I not aware of that? I think we haven’t crossed paths.”
“I’m sorry, I was the one who informed him to come here when you’re not at home. I don’t want him to get in much trouble that might stress him more.” I bowed my head
“But you knew that he got someone pregnant? You should have told me so I wouldn’t be shocked or surprised that a baby suddenly appeared. Did he tell you about what plan he has?”
“I don’t know. We both know what condition he lived in and I want to help him in any way I can.”
“I would love to talk to him but it is late and he looks very tired. If the girl doesn’t want to take care of the baby then we have to compromise. I have considered him as a grandson and I want him and the baby to have a brighter future.”
“I think I need to talk to dad about this. He might consider some suggestions that I want to offer. I cannot just let Allyson suffer like that. We aren’t rich but maybe we can still help.” I said
“I am not sure about that but you can try. I can take care of the baby while Allyson continues school.” Nana said
“Is it okay for you to sleep with the baby? I can sleep with him so it won’t be too much trouble for you.” I asked
“I can manage perfectly. You should go to bed now since it is getting late. I am still young and can take care of a baby.”
“Okay, wake me up if you need some help. The baby is kind and doesn’t cry that much.”
“I know that you love kids but I didn’t expect you to know that much about the baby.” she raised an eyebrow
“I will be going to bed then. I’ll wake up early tomorrow and take care of the baby so you can sleep in.” I said
“You better not be hiding any more secrets from me. The baby is not yours right?” she looked at me fiercely
“Nana! What are you trying to say?”
“I am just kidding and besides I would have noticed if something was off with you. Go to bed now. I need to go and check on the baby.”

“I have an offer and it is up to you if you will accept or not,” I told Allyson the next morning
“What is it?”
“I have talked to Dad about your situation. We are not rich but he considers you like family and offers something. Nana can take care of the baby while you continue your studies.” I said
“I am not sure if I can accept that offer. You have done a lot of things for me already.”
“You have no one to depend on and I have relied on you a lot in the past. I have to do what I can since we are friends.” I said
“I have done small acts but what you are offering is too much so I don’t think I can accept that offer.”
“We will be traveling to the city to meet Dad this weekend and he wants you to come with us. I will be spending the vacation there. I know how high your pride is and you might insist on refusing but you have to think of the baby.” I said
“Think about your son. It is for your future.” Nana said who came to make coffee
“I will think about it,” he whispered
“You still have 3 more days to think about it. We aren’t trying to rush you in deciding. You can take your time.” I said

“Hey.” someone poked me as I was busy reading a book in the library
“I’m busy. Go away.” I said
“I want to ask you something,”
“Can’t you ask that later? I am in the climax of the novel and I hate getting disturbed. What do you want?” I frowned at him
“Can I ask you out for the junior and seniors promenade?” Daniel asked while fiddling with his finger
“The what? I’m not going to whatever that is.” I said confused
“The prom? Can I be your date?” he asked again
“Ummm is that necessary? I can skip that event right?”
“We are mandated to attend though. Your thought must be flying elsewhere when they were making the announcement.” he knocked on my forehead
“When did they make the announcement?” I said
“Last week. If you still don’t have a date for that day then can I be your date?”
“I’ll think about it but can you leave me alone for now. I am in the middle of reading something interesting.” I said
“I heard that Daniel asked you for the prom?” Vladimir asked me as I passed by him standing in the corridor while looking down the schoolyard
“The what?” I asked
“Prom.”
“I’m not going,” I said
“We are required to attend the event silly. Where has your mind wandered off when we had the meeting,” he said patting my head
“I was listening but I am not interested. Oh, I remember that it is gentlemen’s choice that is why you boys are asking girls first.” I said
“So is Daniel going to be your date?”
“I was still thinking about it.”
“Ah, thinking about it means that you have plans of saying yes to him,” he smirked
“Why not? He asked to be my date and there is nothing wrong with that. I can agree or reject him. Why? Are you jealous?” I teased him
“Pardon?” he looked at me shocked
“I said what I said.”
“I told you to stop teasing,” he said before pulling me over by the waist
“What are you doing? Someone might see us.” I whispered as I pushed him away
“Then are you going to have Daniel as your date? If I will ask you out? Aren’t you going to choose me?”
“What kind of behavior is this?”
“Ah, whatever. I want you to forget what I said before. I want to be your date this prom.” He winked at me
“Why would I do that? Who do you think you are?” I smirked at him
“You know well who I am. I am your boyfriend so I must be your date.” He grinned
“That doesn’t mean that you have to be my date on that day.”
“Even if we are in a secret relationship, I can say that I should still be the one.”
I gasped because of what he said and tried laughing it off before staring at him seriously so he can stop talking. Horrors soon flashed in our faces when we turned back and saw my friends standing at our back. I cannot explain Daniel’s face but he looks so betrayed.
“What is this?” Jessica asked
“What are you doing there? We were just joking around.” I stuttered
“Joking around? Really? You aren’t even good at lying so why are you telling a lie?” Daniel said before leaving
“It wasn’t like that. I…” I tried explaining but he vanished like the speed of light
“Well, well, well. What do we have here? So the rumor was true after all.” Henry said
“What is happening here? What rumor? Did I miss something?” Jackson who was passing by asked
All of our friends are in front of us waiting for an explanation but all I think about is Daniel who walked out. I glanced at Vladimir with a worried look because I didn’t know where to start.
“Is no one gonna talk? Everyone is waiting except for the person who likes you.” May said sarcastically
“Did something happen? Why is everyone in here?” Shane asked when she saw our group
“We are waiting for them to confess their relationship,” Jessica said
“Relationship? What do you mean? Is… Is this… real?” she asked nervously
I bit my lip and breathed deep before throwing a death stare at Jessica. She mocked me instead by making faces. How can she say that so easily when everyone knows that Shane likes Vladimir. I took a deep breath and my mind was working twice to think of an explanation that would be acceptable since my friends can easily read my actions.
Vladimir pulled me and made me face him before planting a kiss on the side of my lips. I was too astounded that I had to blink a couple of times to process what just happened. It was just a quick kiss but I was still surprised.
