Chapter 55
As she got out of the car she staggered and fall, it was obvious she is drunk, her husband shake his head in pity as he commanded Sophie to take care of her.
Zoey looked at her mum like a crazy woman and entered the house in anger leaving Sophie outside.
She stand still looking at her boss lying on the floor outside thinking about what to do then an idea popped up in her head.
“Yes!” she said smiling at herself
She moved close to her guiding her to stand and walk like a mother teaching her child how to walk for the first time. She take her into her room and sat her down giving her more alcohol from the fridge seeing no one around and making sure to off the CCTV facing her direction.
“Hey Mama are you hearing from Layla” she asked her seeing she was wasted from the alcohol she gave her
Mrs Hayden: Layla? Hahaha, are you asking about Layla? She is long dead I sent her boyfriend to kill her and I gave him money; that boyfriend is so smart I love his move hahaha( she replied her drunk”
Sophie: really, why did you kill her?
Mrs. Hayden: hahaha, she is a hindrance to me attaining the company, I even killed her parents hahaha, who do they think they are? Hey I killed them haha I killed them all and now I will be able to live my life in peace and enjoyment( her speech slurred)
Sophie felt so Sad listening to how Happy Mrs Hayden is talking about the family she killed.
Sophie: are you happy you killed those people? And do you think you won’t get caught?
Mrs Hayden: haha haha get caught? Me? Never I won’t get caught; am delighted I killed those people because now I can have my peace of mind (she smiles as she blinks her eyes) am happy!! ( stands up waving her hands and jumping like a little girl to whom her dad gives candy) am happy !! ( she said again smiling).
All this while Sophie was looking at her with hatred, her mind urging her to strangle her neck and then run away, but she tried to control her urge saying she won’t become a monster trying to end one.
Sophie!!! (She heard her name being called from the sitting room then she paused the recording she has been doing on her phone as she stand up to answer the caller.
Sophie: here I am.
Zoey/mr Hayden: where is my mum/wife
Sophie: oh she is in my room sir, she insisted to stay in my room that’s why I let her stay sir
Mrs Hayden: hey honey I want you to tell me a secret
Mr. David: tell me? Take her to her room Sophie
Zoey: don’t worry I will take her

Some minutes later Sophie received a call from an unknown number which she was scared to pick up but still decided to pick up the call.
The ringing of her phone stopped immediately she tap on the answer option as she hear a familiar lady’s voice saying hello to her.
Her mind thought of someone so close to her hearing the voice but she brushed it off thinking the person is dead
“Hello,” the stranger said
Sophie: hi and please who am I speaking with
Stranger: are you saying you don't know me? Oh j used another number to call you but can you not recognize my voice
Sophie: am sorry I don't know who am speaking with, kindly describe yourself.
Stranger: OMG (chuckles) Sophie are you denying me right now
Sophie: “How did she know my name” she mumbles confused; how did you know my name please tell me who you are so I can know, okay? (the call cuts)
Sophie start to panic, thinking about the voice she heard her heart starts beating fast, aching.
Meanwhile, Layla is on her sick bed tears strolling down her face holding her phone tightly to her heart thinking everyone has forsaken her and doesn't care about her anymore, seeing how Sophie was unable to identify her through her voice without telling her who she is break her.
“We have been together at least sixteen years and she can't identify me through my voice, she did not even try to reach me for days” she lamented in her head as she put up her phone to see who the caller is after hearing her phone ring.
