“Thanks, Sophie, hmm you treating me like a kid,” Layla said smiling as she cleans her tears with her palm
Sophie: treating you like a kid? Geez how
Layla: you have always been treating me like this since I was six old (smiles) you have always been like this, calming me down in any tough situation, you are like a shield to me
Sophie: hm, God is our shield, am just doing my responsibility as a sister
Layla: awwwn, what a big lovely sister I have, thank you my amiable sister; (serious) What were you saying about freedom, sorry to ask this but were you held captive
Sophie: hmm, it is a long story of my life
Layla: then tell me, am all hears
Sophie: you haven't eaten this afternoon, let me get you something to eat ( stands up)
Layla: no, am not hungry let us talk! don't change the topic!
Sophie: you need to eat to have the strength to listen to whatever am saying
Layla: ouch ouch( she yells as she uses her hand in supporting her stomach as if it will relieve her of pain)
Sophie: what is wrong( moves closer to her checking her stomach)
Layla: it hurts, I can't eat now so let's talk
Sophie: I know you are acting
Layla: am not!
Sophie: I know you are, let me go make some food ( turns around to leave)
Layla: ouch ouch, it hurts ( sounding like she is about to cry
Sophie stopped on her track and then sits down beside her, even though she thinks Layla is acting she can't leave her because she is not sure if she is acting or not giving her health issue.
Sophie: so what do you want to talk about?
Layla: your freedom!
Sophie: Layla, I don't want to talk about this okay?
Layla: no let us talk about this, spill it out tell me the truth about you
Sophie: okay fine! Everything started when I was in high school, Mrs. Hayden always come to visit us I thought they were friends but did not know there was something hidden between them, she comes every weekend and then go back again, I only knew they do see each other but did not know what they were talking about till one day Mrs. Hayden brought out knife trying to kill her, I was scared that I went to her crying not to kill my mum, she left in anger seeing I was there. ( she breathes hard) some months later I was coming from school when I saw the house on fire with my mum on slate all burned I can't even recognize her by her body but seeing she was being brought out of our house 🏠 knew she was the one, my heart sank, like the memories it's so heartbreaking, the incident is still vivid to me now it's like am watching a movie.
Layla: am so sorry for this, am so sorry I never knew something like this has happened to you
Sophie: you don't need to be sorry, you did not cause anything
Layla: so tell me was it Mrs Hayden that caused your mum's death
Sophie: hmmm, I started living with my friend since I don't know any of my family and from there I went to university abroad and then come back when I was done, I thought everything was good but it was not.
I came back from work one day and met my door opened, my room scattered all my certificates burned, reported this to the police but they did not believe me saying how is it possible someone come to Robb me and only burned my certificate that maybe I was careless.
I felt so confused who will do that to me? Who did I offend to think of punishing me that way? I did not even know what to think.
The following day she came to visit me, telling me she is my mums' friend and that she has been looking for me since the incident that happened to my mom, I believed her since have been seeing her around mum for a while, then I told her about what happened to my day before, she sympathizes with me and told me I can start living with her till I gain all my certificate back, I was happy since she said she will help me with her connection and all.
Not me getting to her house and telling me another story that I am her husband's child and I will become a slave in the house forever, she even told me she was the one behind my mother's death and there is nothing I will do about it, I was sad, was confused, I hated my self for trusting people, I did not know what to do and I did not have any choice but to start living with them. Later I saved up money then do a DNA and I found out I was not even his child, I told him about it then he explained to me that my mother was his ex and after they broke up he found out she was pregnant, thought it was his then tried to speak with my mum on the phone but unfortunately his wife which is Mrs. Hayden heard part of his conversation and did not even ask him about it then took my mum's number on his phone in his absence then planned all this; I was sad, I cried I was like so my mum died for nothing, it was a painful and cruel death be begged me then told me I can leave anytime I want to and he will render any help he can; that's my story and that's how I got my freedom.
Layla: don't you want to revenge on her? (she asked looking into her eyeball and waiting for her answer)
Sophie: I want to, I want to get revenge (she said as she look back into Layla’s eyeball too, determined)
Layla: then let us get out revenge, but do you know your father
Sophie: no I don’t know him
Layla: have you tried to find him
Sophie: yes but no clue
Layla: how are we going to get our revenge
Henry: I can teach you how to get your perfect revenge ( they both look at him surprised)
Layla/Sophie: have you been eavesdropping?
Henry: yes and am sorry I did that, but now I know your secret can we be friends I mean work together, I can help you get the perfect revenge you want
Sophie: and how will you do that?
Henry: let’s eat first
