Chapter 13 Not An Impostor...But A Ghost

Joseph came out of his bathroom in a towel robe, dancing all over his room and singing a song. He was feeling so happy at that moment.
He stood in front of his dressing mirror and smiled at his reflection in a dramatic way. "Just few hours left and I'd witness the death of all the students", he said, wearing an evil smile.
He heard a sudden quick knock on his door that made him worried until he felt it could be the Father Christmas since all his servants had gone to their various homes. He chuckled over it and went to the door.
He opened the door suddenly to get Father Christmas by surprise. He was left smiling in surprise. He then felt some presence behind him the whole time. It was Father Christmas, glaring at him!
Joseph giggled;"So what did you come here for? You know very well you can't do me anything."
"And just so you know...those students you're haunting and ending their lives no more hurts me in any way. Do whatever you want to do with them, in fact I'll be bringing a lot of them for you to devour tomorrow", he continued angrily and boldly.
For a while, there was an eye glaring contest between them as they stood close to each other. All of a sudden, Father Christmas thrusted at Joseph with its claws and he ran away out of fear to the wall.
He then looked behind and saw there was no one in the room again. He looked round and up down to confirm before comforting himself to being bold. "You don't scare me!", he squeaked.

"So what made you agree to go for the tour and put such enthusiasm in you? Or are you going for the tour because your prince charming is also going for it?", Tricia's Mum stared at her playfully but in a curious way.
"Mum?", she looked at Mum in amazement and giggled, "I spoke to Mr Joseph today at school and his words changed my mind", she replied happily.
"Another time a teacher convinced you to do something you never wanted doing when I was the one advising you", Mum frowned ironically.
"I'm sorry Mum!", Tricia apologized, "That's still a habit I'm yet to work on", she said.
"Well...for the past two weeks I noticed an improvement in you trying to quit that habit", Mum said with pleasure.
"I'm so glad you finally noticed something I'm doing", Tricia chuckled over it, playfully gesturing an appreciation to God.
"Whatever!", Mum tossed her head dramatically with a faint smile.
Tricia giggled;"I still have a couple of things to do prior to the tour." She got up and left her Mum's room.
"If you need any help, yell my name!", Mum squeaked. Her mood changed immediately her daughter was no more in sight - she felt worried. "I'll pray to God to spare you, especially this night so you will get out of here tomorrow", she thought.

Meanwhile in another home, a boy was having an argument with his parents concerning the tour. His parents were against the tour and him partaking in it.
"But Mum...Dad! If I don't attend this year's tour, I may not be picked next year which is my final year in that school", he gave out a niggle.
"That doesn't matter. It's your life we're talking about here", Dad replied, annoyed by the non-stop insistence of his son.
"You may not continue schooling there after the term closes tomorrow", Mum spoke to him sharply.
"Mum?!", the boy squeaked, not happy with what she said at all.
"The serial killer could trace you guys to the national park", Dad tried explaining things calmly, "I don't even trust that Mr Joseph, he could even be involved in this whole conspiracy. He has been nonchalant despite the tension everywhere in that school", he stressed.
"Why would he be killing his very own students?", he asked in despair.
"Anything is possible in this world we live in", Mum replied immediately with scorn. The boy gaped at his parents, totally lost in words.
"Try and understand us son", Dad pleaded, feeling sorry for his son, "There's a serial killer out there and we don't know who to trust anymore", he said.
"The serial killer has been killing students in their homes while their parents were asleep", the boy argued further.
"I know what to do concerning that. I discussed with your Mum and we reached a mutual agreement on what to do so we could secure this home even better", Dad responded, gesturing for his son to calm down. The boy sighed heavily in disappointment with a shake of the head.

A boy laid on his bed and was about to make use of his mobile phone when his Dad opened the door and walked into his room. "Any problem Dad?", he questioned.
"It's past 10...it's late but you haven't locked up the house", Dad said to him.
Knowing he had forgotten, he exclaimed;"Oh yeah! He quickly got off his bed, picked up the bunch of house keys on a table and went out of his room. His Dad followed him behind and they went down the stairs.
Dad branched into the parlour to switch off the lights and shut the windows while he went outside to lock the burglary up. It was a calm cosy night, no sound was heard around - everyone had gone to sleep.
Dad had switched off the lights and shut the windows. He turned to leave the parlour, only to see the door was closed to his greatest surprise. At the same time, the boy was finding it difficult to lock the burglary.
"Come on! Why doesn't this want to lock?", he was losing patience.
"I'm sure I didn't close this door", Dad thought, staring at the door curiously. He overlooked and wanted leaving the parlour but realized the door was actually locked. "Did he just lock me in here?", he became confused. He knocked on the door several times, calling on his son to unlock the door.
"Finally!", the boy exclaimed as he just successfully locked the burglary. He went inside the house into the kitchen and locked the door leading to outside.
"Why did Dad switch off the kitchen lights? Here's very dark!", he said and immediately turned on the switch.
The lights came on and he immediately saw the bloody Father Christmas standing at the other end of the kitchen, who did not even give him time to make a move or scream and pounced on him.
The boy's Dad could not hear the cry of his son as he was being attacked. He was now banging hard on the door, already furious at his son for locking him in the parlour.
"Get me out of here!!", he yelled and banged hard on the door one more time. Few seconds later of silence, the door was unlocked.
He opened the door with annoyance;"Why did you..." He was surprised to see the kitchen dark. He used his hand to check if his son was standing in front of him but felt nothing. He was beginning to feel anxious over everything.
"Who just unlocked this door?", he thought. He hurriedly went for the light switch and turned on the lights. He turned back and had a nose round the kitchen and got the biggest shock of his life - his son was lying on the floor dead!
The boy was very much stained with blood. He was brutally murdered, his chest ripped off, obviously by something that bore claws.
The man fell to the floor and crawled towards his dead son. He shedded a lot of tears and was extremely scared to see his son dead in such a wicked way.
The sound of a plastic cup was heard dropping on the floor and he looked up. The dead boy's elder sister stood by the door, gripped with shock to even say a word or even sob.

Dominic, Rita and Sandra went to the cemetery where Father Christmas was laid to rest. They walked on the tip of their toes slowly, past the gravestones.
"Why did you ask me to bring you guys here?", asked Sandra.
Misunderstanding the question, Dominic replied, looking sober;"You're absolutely right! I think day time would have been better."
"Day or night, we shouldn't be here just to find out the situation of Father Christmas's graveyard", Sandra responded. She got no response as they kept on going forward. She asked Rita;"Why do you want to see his graveyard?"
Rita hummed, shrugging off her shoulders to imply she had no hands in it. "It's Dominic's idea. He gave me a reason but I couldn't understand. Think it was way complicated for me to assimilate", she said. Sandra gazed at Dominic with a probing look, who then gave her his reasons as soon as he noticed it.
"I've dealt with a case that had to do with the supernatural in the past", he began, "The ghost or would I say the person's soul had not rested. We went to the graveyard and saw it had been dug up and casket opened just to confirm it was a ghost and not an impostor", he said.
"Who are the we?", asked Sandra, looking at Rita in suspicion.
"The person's family and I", Dominic answered, "The person's wife was an expert in black arts before she passed away", he revealed.
"Was she the one you said told you a person's graveyard would be dug up and casket opened if the soul hasn't rested...that the soul had escaped from the grave?", questioned Rita.
"Yeah! You're right", he responded, "And that's what I want to confirm. I want to be sure it is really a ghost we're dealing with or a serial killer impostor", he added.
"His graveyard is over there", Sandra pointed faraway at a gravestone isolated from the rest.
"Your grave being isolated from the rest is already something suspicious", Dominic inferred, stroking his chin to think.
"I think something spooky is better used", Rita shivered mildly in worry.
"Come on! Let's go", Dominic gestured and led the way. They got close to the grave and saw heaps of sand, one at each side of the grave - the grave had been dug up. They looked into the grave and saw the casket opened, nothing seen inside of it. Rita and Sandra swallowed dryly in fear at the sight of an open casket in an open grave.
Dominic breathed in and out heavily to try exhale all sorts of fright in him. He turned to the ladies and said to them calmly;"It's confirmed. We're dealing with a real ghost here.". He looked back in the grave and shook his head in confusion.
