Chapter 12 Preparation Continues

Jonathan and Samuel were also already folding their own clothes in their boxes in their respective homes and bedrooms. They were having a phone chat as they did their work.
"My parents support this tour.  They see it as a way of being safe from the serial killer for the time being", Jonathan said to Samuel.
"Same over here bro", Samuel replied, "That's if we won't be killed in the next two days", he joked and laughed over it.
"Is that your prayer Samuel?", Jonathan hissed at him.
"Not like that bro", he chuckled, "Just that no one knows the next target of the serial killer", he shrugged.
"Well...funny enough, you're right!", Jonathan soughed, "Don't know what Joe's High School did that offended that serial killer", he said.
"Samuel!!", his Mum called on him.
"I'm on my way Mum!", he replied in a high tone.
"Woah!", Jonathan reacted, "This one your Mum shouted your name...hope there's no problem?"
"I don't think so. We'll chat later bro", Samuel replied.
"Goodbye bro!", Jonathan bid him farewell. Samuel turned off the loudspeaker and hanged up the phone call.
"I'm coming Mum!", he said and stormed out of the room.

Tricia stood with some of her fellow prefects as they watched the junior ones run past them down to the Assembly Hall. Two girls in her set were walking past them, having a conversation. Tricia overheard a statement made by one of them.
"I went to her house so we could come together to school but I was told she died last night."
This caught the attention of the prefects and Tricia stopped them. "Who died?", she questioned, staring at them intently.
"She's a junior student. You may not know her. I usually come with her everyday to school", one replied.
"Oh my God!", Tricia became sad, "I know her...a very beautiful girl!"
"She's become one of the victims of this curse this school has got into", the other girl said.
"I'm becoming really scared now. Are we all going to die?", the boy that stood beside Tricia swallowed dryly in fear.
"There's something the school management is hiding from us", a girl prefect inferred.
In the midst of the conversation going on, Tricia had her own thoughts in mind. She felt it was high time she confronted Mr Joseph about the horrifying death plague befalling the students. She was fuming with anger over this unknown curse.

The principal's messenger opened the door of the principal's office to inform the principal he had a visitor. He was having a conversation with the founder of the school, Mr Joseph.
"Excuse me Sir! There's a girl that wants to see you. Her name is Tricia", the messenger informed him.
"Tricia? Seems I know the girl", Mr Joseph turned to the principal with a questioning expression.
"She's the Assistant School Prefect...one of the students chosen for the tour tomorrow", the principal told him.
"Oh!", Joseph exclaimed, nodding his head to show he had recognized the girl in question. "Send her in!", he instructed the messenger. The messenger left the office and in a short while, Tricia walked into the office, making sure she avoided a thwack as she closed the door.
"Good morning Sir!", she bowed to Joseph, "Good morning Sir!", she bowed to Joseph, "Good morning Sir!", she bowed to the principal. They both responded to her greeting amicably.
"What brings you to my office?", the principal asked with a gesture.
"Actually...", she paused, "I came to talk to Mr Joseph", she responded.
"Me?", Joseph expressed surprise. "Hope I did nothing wrong?", he laughed over it.
"Is it something you'd like to talk to him in private?", asked the principal, offering Tricia a seat.
"Well...", she stressed, "Yes Sir", she replied respectfully, hoping he would not get bristled with her response.
"It's no problem. I don't mind", he shrugged and got up. He left the office for both of them to discuss privately. His behaviour really amazed Mr Joseph.
When the principal had gone, he offered Tricia a seat. When she had her seat, he asked her with a smile;"So what do you want to tell me?"
"Sir why do you want this tour to take place?", she began, making sure she asked nicely.
"I don't understand", Joseph found the question funny, "Why don't you want the tour to take place?", he asked her.
"Sir your students are dying everyday, shouldn't we get to the bottom of this rather than embarking on a tour?", she gazed at him.
"I could remove your name from the list of chosen students and replace you with someone else if you wish", Mr Joseph behaved nonchalantly.
"It's not removing my name from the list I requested for Sir. I want the tour to be postponed. A student even died yesterday!", she exclaimed.
"Another student died yesterday?", he feigned to be hell shocked.
"At least a student dies everyday", Tricia replied, lowering her voice this time.
Joseph shook his head, sighing in a friend disappointment. "Why are students of mine dying everyday?", he said quietly.
"Let's try and find out the root cause of all these", she suggested.
"I have already. I've hired people that are investigating on this already", he replied sadly.
"For real Sir?", Tricia got surprised.
"Yes! I didn't want to let anyone know about this because I believe it's a serial killer behind this but I don't know who the serial killer is. I'm just revealing this to you because you were beginning to see me as heartless, and I don't like that", he said.
Tricia looked away, starting to feel a little bit guilty for her actions. "I'm sorry Sir. I never knew about this", she apologized timidly. She was not bold enough to look him in the eyes.
"That's why it's not advisable to conclude when you haven't got the complete comprehensive information about something", he forced out a smile at her.
"But Sir! Won't the serial killer trace us to where we'd be for the tour?", she became curious.
"I've hired a large number of security personnels that will be with us throughout our stay there. We'll be in safe hands, trust me", he stared at her playfully.
"I believe you Sir", she replied.
"Thanks for the trust. So, prepare for the tour tomorrow. Tomorrow's the school's closing day for the Christmas break. The terminal exams will be on January, you know about it?", he questioned.
"Yes Sir, I do!", she answered, "And I'll surely prepare for the tour Sir", she said happily.
"That means a lot", he grinned at her.
"She got up to go. "I should be going then. Have a nice day Sir!", she wished him.
"I wish you the very best", he responded and she left the office. He then wore an evil smile and said to himself;"You don't even have the slightest idea of what's awaiting you darling!"
