ALORA EMBRY
It was again raining snow outside so I can't go to the training ground, this year was so cold than last year. We spent our Christmas and new year without our parents and my brothers. They sent a letter greeting us that was the last letter they send until I get back to the university.
I also just receive one letter from Damien asking me how I am. I'm a bit disappointed about it and just send a short reply. The class also started so I focus on that first, and everything is surprisingly quiet.
"I greet Lady Alora, how are you, My Lady?" I stared at Leticia and nodded.
"I'm good, I see that you're doing well here."
"Thank you, My Lady. And I would like to ask you to join me to drink some tea if you are free."
"Sure."
"Thank you." She followed me and she was walking behind me. When we ordered tea and sweets and after that, I look at her.
"What is it, you won't ask for a tea if you don't have anything to say to me?"
"Ah, yes."
"I was wondering If the lady is willing to help the church. The task that was given to me is to recruit some students."
"I don't see anything bad about that, so I'm in."
"Then I will see you in the church in a week." I nod and they serve the tea, I was staring at the palace as I drink my tea.
"What do you think of the Crown Prince?" she asked out of the blue, did they fight?
"What's with the Crown Prince?" she slightly laughs and shakes her head.
"Is there a chance for you to love him?" why is she asking me such questions like this?
"Why are you asking me that? Just to remind you I am bound to marry someone and I do admit that I loved him. So, no."
"Haa." She put down her teacup and smiled at me. But why it didn't reach her eyes? "I wish, I were you." She laughed and sighed.
"Did you and the Crown Prince fight?" she shook her head.
"It's just everything was on you; I can't believe I was saying this. Forgive me, I would be glad if you could forget such silly things that I said. Then I will go now, thank you for your time, My Lady."
"Yeah." I watch her back and sighed when she's finally gone. I stayed there until dinner and the next morning I watch how the academy panicked. It was said that the students from Wren Academy will visit, it was an all-boys academy for they are looking down on ladies.
In the Wren Kingdom where women have no right to learn in the academy, beautiful ladies were sent-- no sold off to marry someone, and if she were not useful anymore they can just throw them away, they must serve men, and they have no voice. And if you were unlucky, you can say that you didn't pass their standards, they will serve their family for the rest of their life. It was such an unfortunate thing.
So, it was surprising that they will visit here. I can now predict that they will look down on us.
"Good Morning, My Lady."
"I greet Sir Frederick." Then I look at his clothes, he was wearing their training uniform. "I see, so you're going to the training grounds?"
"Yes, it's been a while since I train. I'm scared that I have already forgotten everything."
"Would you like to have some sparring?" he looked at me with a shocked face and he immediately shook his head.
"No! I mean I'm scared that I will hurt you." I laugh and pulled his clothes.
"Come on, I'm not that weak."
"I know, but My Lady..." in the end we still ended up having a spar, and he was good as Damien. Ugh, I remember him, that idiot.
"Argh!"
"My Lady?" I stop my aggressive attacks and scratch my head.
"Pardon me, I just remember something unpleasant."
"Let's take a rest?"
"Yes." I followed him and we sat on a chair there and he gave me water. "Thank you, Sir Frederick."
"The Wren students I saw them a while ago before I found you. Why you didn't join the student council in welcoming them, you're one of the top students of the academy."
"So you are, My Lord, I can say that you go here so you can avoid them." He nodded shyly.
"Well, It's just their presence was a bit arrogant. Feels like they were looking down on us."
"Yes, you are right. Their arrogance was on another level. You can't take it so do I, I don't want another stress." He was laughing hard and when he saw me staring at him, his face turned red and he immediately said sorry.
"Frederick, can you come with me for a second?"
"Uh..." he look at me and I smiled at him.
"I will stay here until you came back."
"I will be back, but if I was a bit too long you can freely leave My Lady."
"Yes." He followed that student and I closed my eyes when the wind softly blow. After five minutes I stand up and get my sword. I was doing some moves and when I was done I heard a clap. I turned around, I thought it was Sir Frederick but I was wrong. This is my first time seeing his face.
He was wearing a black shirt and I assume that he was not a student. Is he one of the students from Wren, then why is he not wearing the uniform? Maybe he was not a student and was a servant of one of the students from Wren.
"I'm sorry for watching you silently, it's just I was fascinated by your swordsmanship."
"You're praising me too much." He then smiled and I suddenly felt the chills.
"Hey." I look at him sharply and he raised his hands and laugh. Such an insult. "You are different from the ladies I've met my entire life, what's your name?"
"Alora." He smiled widely and offer his hand.
"I'm Vasquez, nice to meet you. You see I'm a student from Wren."
"Yeah, welcome to our Academy." After that, I snatch my hand and turned my back but he still follows me.
"Alora Vasquez, I like it." I look at him once again, just what does he want from me? "Dormer has sure beautiful things here."
"Okay. Then enjoy your stay here." I said but he immediately go in front of me. I clicked my tongue and sighed. "Could you please move so I can now leave?"
"I'm still not done appreciating the beauty in front of me."
"You sure have a sweet tongue."
"Do you like it?"
"Honestly, no."
"Daniel!"
"Where are you? Daniel!" I squint my eyes and saw the Crown Prince together with some students from Wren.
"Hey, I like you. Do you want to be my wife?" my face crumpled and step back.
"Just who do you think you are to ask that?"
"Your future husband." I clench my fists and I tried to calm myself, in a minute the Crown Prince and others will be here so I can now get rid of this guy.
"Vasquez right? I just want to inform you that I already have a fiancé, and even though I don't have one I don't want to get married to a person that I met for the first time who suddenly asked me to marry him."
"Well, a fiancé what is his name?"
"Why?"
"So, I can kill him, I want you." This person!
"Your Highness!" I look and greet them; the Crown Prince looks at me and then at this weird person. And when I finally got a chance I go to His Highness back and hide there.
"Just why did you wander here alone?"
"Well, I finally found my future wife." I sighed and they all look at me.
"Just what is he saying, Lady Alora?"
"I don't know, he approach me then he started spouting those things."
"I see that His Highness has taken a liking to Lady Alora, but this lady was already betrothed to another." So, this person is a royalty. I clenched my fists at what I heard. I feel disgusted all of a sudden.
"She will be mine; I just have to kill him. I was glad that I came here."
I heard his friend complain to him but he continued spouting things like he will make me the Queen of Wren. Just imagining those things creeps me out. If I could just erase him forever, my hands were itchy. I want to kill him and hang his head on the border.
I want his head.
"Lady Alora..."
"Huh?"
