It's been about four days since I left the house for my secret mission which was not totally a successful one as I could not get Informations that would aid in the search, but I bet it was worth trying. I still haven't gotten a single chance of hearing from Nancy's younger brother, since he hasn't called after that time. I couldn't dare or risk going back there, not after what the guy said about his Mom concerning Nancy's kidnap and about me being the mastermind behind it and trying to cover it up. Well, I don't blame her at all, it's her daughter we are talking about though. I might be so unlucky if I decide to go back there in search of Nancy's younger brother and I don't know what her mother is capable of doing, so for the time being I'd rather stay at home and wait patiently for whenever he decides to give me a call. I don't even know his name, unfortunately I didn't get to collect his contact number from him, if I did I won't be as disturbed as I am now, I would have called him the day after, without wasting any more time and this might have been settled, or worse happened. At the moment, I don't know how much longer it will take for him to get back to me. What if he has thrown the business card into a trash can, or maybe his mother found it littered on the ground and tore it into pieces, or maybe he misplaced it by mistake. I was trying to console myself and give reasons why the guy hasn't reported back to me just as we agreed. What if he's busy? But, thinking about it deeply, he isn't supposed to forget this kind of a thing, especially not after I told him that I need information to help find his sister. I decided to stop thinking about it because thinking about it wasn't helping matters or adding anything meaningful to what I had already. I was stuck in this house alone with my mother since she didn't have anywhere she was going to today. I didn't fancy that idea, but I couldn't do anything about it anyway. I left the sitting room, so bored of continual watching of movies. It hurts me when I watch a very interesting movie and I find myself laughing. I immediately end up recalling the fact that my twins, my only babies are missing. Everything around me was beginning to sulk so much and I was slowly getting tired of it all. The police giving blank reports on their investigation, the kidnappers not asking for a ransom to get my kids released. Uhhh! How long will this last till we eventually find them and bring them all home. Nevertheless, I wasn't going to give up, atleast not this soon. "Sonia, what's up? Are you okay? Mom asked, stopping me. "Yes mother, I am fine." I answered and continued walking away. "You don't look like you are." "You always say that, so I don't know if I should believe you now." I replied, then increased my pace so she doesn't stop me again. By the time she started to talk, I was upstairs and I walked as fast as I could so I don't hear what she had to say. I was not prepared for any argument with her today, I had some important things I needed to work on, which is more important than that. I entered into my room, shutting the door behind me. I went to the small room very close to our room, a door was what demarcated it. The room was where I keep my computer and some of my work. I switched on one of the computers, which was specifically mine. Waiting for it to booth and come on properly, I left the small room to my own room. Then, I walked to the fridge which was almost close to the door. I opened it and took out a packet of chilled pineapple juice with a glass cup. I went back to the computer table and sat down on the chair. I placed the cup by the side. Opening the pineapple juice, I poured some of it inside the cup till it was quite close to the brim, then I stopped pouring it in. I took the cup and gulped some of the juice down my throat as I enjoyed the satisfactory feeling it gave me. By this time, the computer was fully on and ready to be explored. I had some work I had to complete by the end of the day. Still on my sick leave, as the manager, I still had to do some work from home, just to be very sure that the company is running well. The work I had to do at home wasn't to be compared to the ones I do when I am fully in for work. As the manager, there are things that I still had to oversee to make sure the company is running smoothly. Besides, I wouldn't want someone else to take my place as the manager of the company, most especially for the fact that l got that promotion out of my hard work and it won't be funny if I let someone else take it away from me. One hour into the work, I was tired already. I could feel my head aching a little bit. If Tony was here, by now he would have stopped me from working and asked me to go and rest. l emailed my secretary some of the work I was done with, asking her to send some of them to those they were intended for. I noticed that the headache was increasing rapidly, so I decided to pause the work for the meantime and go find something to eat at least. It was past 1 PM already, I guess that explains the reason for the throbbing headache I was having. I went down the stairs, walking carefully and slowly so as not to alert mother, as I was not in the mood to have any chat with her, atleast, not yet. Getting to the kitchen, I could perceive the aroma of the food she was cooking. No one was in the kitchen when I got there, so that means she was done with cooking. I guess I was lucky as I came at the appropriate time. One might be wondering why she didn't bother calling me after cooking so I would come down and eat. Well, backwards to three days ago. As usual, she always refused me from entering the kitchen to cook or help her, even though I was better now compared to the first time I fell sick. That particular day, I wanted to take cereal mixtures with some snacks we had. Mom refused, saying I was on drugs and I needed good food, not baby food. I felt bad and locked myself in the room, refusing to leave the room or answer the door till Alex returned home. Mother didn't hesitate to report the matter to him, scared that I might do something stupid inside the room. Alex had to come to the door to apologise on mother's behalf then pleaded that I open the door. As far as Alex is concerned, that's my weak point. I would not want to do anything that would hurt it for any reason. So, I didn't demur any more. I opened the door and let him in, while he found a way to calm me down. After talking with him, I told him that I don't need mother to dictate the kind of food I would want to eat and she shouldn't bother about calling me down for lunch that I will always sort myself out. For the part of she dictating what I will eat, Alex made me understand that it was necessary she oversee it till I am done with the prescribed drugs I have been taking. As for the other part, well, Mother was to stop asking me about lunch. Normally, we take dinner and breakfast together, so there was no big deal about that. Going into the kitchen, I went straight to the pot on the gas cooker and opened it. It was vegetable soup with assorted meat and fish. I was salivating already and I couldn't resist the urge to dish out my food. I got two plates, scooped soup inside one of the plates. The other plate was for the wheat flour that I quickly prepared into a large ball within five minutes. I placed them on the tray and took it to the dinning room to devour the succulent dish. I sat down comfortably on the chair as I was ready to do justice to the meal infront of me. I used fork to take the vegetables into my mouth and chewed on it. It was extremely tasty. One thing I don't argue about with my mother is her ability to cook delicious dishes which she never fails to boast about. I was eating chewing and licking my lips that I didn't notice when mother walked into the dinning room. I just turned around randomly just to see someone glaring at me. "Oh my gosh! Mother! I screamed. "Gosh! How long have you been standing there? I asked, trying to stop myself from shivering because I literally got scared the first time I spotted her standing there. I had no idea what I was looking at, as I wasn't expecting it though. "Not long enough. I am just surprised that you are eating the food before me who prepared it." She complained, staring at the soup. "That's okay as it was not part of the deal, so don't really bother yourself. By the way, your food tastes so nice, I must admit it." "It feels so nice hearing you say something very nice about me and about my work. I think bi need to take this down. Thanks though, for the mild compliment." She answered, blushing secretly. "My pleasure mother." I said, smiling coolly at her. "Well mother, if it pleases you, you can atleast give me some space so I can continue with my meal." I requested. She nodded and left me alone without saying anything any further. After eating and satisfied with what I ate, I took the plates to the kitchen and washed them out immediately, then kept them back on the rack. By this time, I noticed that the headache had subsided and I wasn't feeling the pain any longer. I stayed in the dinning room for a little while so the food could digest before I continue with my work in the room. About fifteen to twenty minutes later, I left the dinning room to my own room, so as to continue with the tasks I had at hand. I had to reboot the computer because I had left it alone for a while. It didn't take time to get it on again, so I continued with that I was doing previously. I just sat down to start what I needed to do, when I heard my phone ring. I actually left it here and went downstairs earlier. As I took it, I checked who the caller was, and I saw that it was Jessica. Perhaps, she was on a break and she wants to use the opportunity to speak with me. "Hey Jess girl. How are you doing? I asked as I picked up the call. She replied, "I'm cool baby girl. What about you? I'm sure you are okay, right? She asked with excitement. "Yeah, right. I am. Hey! What's up? You sound quite different, what's the big deal? I asked curiosity, expecting straight response from her. "Oh that! It's not something very serious. Jude is better now, he also went to school today." "Wow, that's so sweet." I replied. "Seems you are missing me already, right? Because you can't do without me in the office, you always call to hear my voice." I said, giggling so loud. "Ha ha ha ha, well that's not totally false anyway. Of course I miss you, like a lot! You know I always come around to disturb you in your office. Now, it's quite boring because I have to stay in my office till the dismissal time. Geez, that's not funny at all." She answered laughing heartily. "You are making me feel emotional right now. Don't worry, I'll be back on my feet very soon. You guys should anticipate my great return." I replied, carefully handling the file I was working on and making sure I was putting everything in order. "Personally, I can't wait to usher you back to work as the usual agile Sonia that these people here fear whenever she steps out. Ha ha ha, you really command so much power and that's so sweet." "You'll get bored with it if you spend so much time on making people fear you. That's the most boring thing to do. Well, you are nothing like that though, I know you'll be a great leader." "Thanks so much Sonia, you are making me blush." She replied, giggling lightly. "Well, I just told you a fact. It's something that's so obvious, I only spelled it out loud." "I agree. Yeah, that reminds me. What about the police? Have they called to give you any positive feedback as regards the case on ground? "To be honest Jess, personally if there Is a way I could work this out on my own, without involving the police, we will go out there to find them, I would definitely do that. Alex has kept me inside for the moment, till I have completed my drugs and I'm okay." "Oh okay. I understand though. Just listen to your husband and do what he says, okay." She advised. "Yeah yeah, I actually do." I said, biting my tongue, because I knew that was not totally true. I left the house few days ago on a short investigatory adventure that didn't work out as planned, though it was better than not trying at all and doing nothing. "I was hoping that by this time they will be found. I rest don't understand why they are taking so much time. My kids have been constantly asking that they come around to see the twins. But, I have been giving them a lot of excuses, which will end some day." She complained. "Jess, seriously I don't know how I cope every single day knowing that the kids are not yet found. It's not easy at all, but I just try as much as possible to endure it, believing it will end someday." I explained, almost amidst tears. "It's gonna be fine my love. We just have to be patient and wait for that right moment. I have this feeling that it's soonest." "Yes, me too. I feel the same way as well. That could be a sign you know." I said in excitement. "I accept it as well." Jess replied. "Uhm, I have to go, it's time for work." "Thanks for always checking up on me Jess. You are really a good friend indeed. What would I have done without you? I said, in appreciation. "Thanks Sonia, I can do anything for you. Please, do take care of yourself, alright? "I will. You too, do the same as well." She ended the call after my last statement. I smiled at myself, I was pleased to have her always there for me, it was a relief. I went back to my tasks, so I can complete it on time.
