Ulysses is just a name I came up with but he was useful in many cases like the part that has all the credits of this success. Eventually, he'll be gone forever for Ulysses was only used as a disguise for myself who went to the battlefield as a woman.
I changed back to my original appearance and removed my dirty male clothes. Then I burned the evidence before I sat down next to a tree from exhaustion. It's been awhile since I've been this tired, now that the magic wore off, my pain went back as well.
Before I knew it, I was down on my knees and sat on the cold floor. Lady Lucia and Anastasia were escorted by Dores, they need to go back because I know that Lady Cullian- Madam Milia is worried about her daughter.
She's been worried sick and I'm afraid she'll lose hope if this happened. Besides, I have to warn the remaining knights that they need to depart in a rush but I promise to protect them so, two of my knights will have to stay at the Cullian Residence as an escort to both Lucia and Anastasia.
The remaining will have to go back with me. Unfortunately, I am waiting for them near the entrance of the extra roads that lead to the main road. Adrian is currently feeding the horses as they have been exhausted like me.
We waited for 2 hours straight and finally, the troops are here. I stood up and fixed myself before I met with Anna, she must be worried sick because of me. They brought the carriage and wagons, no wonder they took long enough to clean up their mess.
Adrian stood beside me, we waited until they soon arrived at our place. The knights were so delighted to see us and couldn't help but to hug Adrian instead of me, after that the carriage door was open revealing Anna with her worrywart face that was slams to my face.
"Milady, are you injured anywhere? Goodness, you made me worry, " she said and before she knew it I embraced her tightly and smiled.
"I told you, trust me, didn't I?" I heard her sniff and then she slowly embraced me too.
Now, the only thing that bothers me, she might report something to father later on. She is a spy after all, even so she look stupid, this woman is a spy sent by my father to protect me from any harm and her privacy.
"Anna, " I called and then we parted from our embrace. "If you think of reporting to my father, do not do it. I know you are a spy and your duty is to report what is necessary to be reported to my father- that's your job but I swear if you tell him what happened in the past week, I suggest that you quit. "
Those were cold sentences that I want her to understand, that is the reason I am threatening her right now because I don't want that to happen. Even if I say rude and threatening words, that is because I know Anna is someone hired by my father.
I only found that out recently. I don't even know if he told my father that I told her to investigate Lucia, and the crown prince. Although I'm sure that she did, I couldn't help but frown in disappointment.
"I--" Anna began kneeling in the cold and dirty ground beneath her. She then put her hands against my feet and bowed her head against the ground. "I'm sorry milady! Everyone was so quick to notice because Anna yelled and now we are the center of the attention which made me lose some air by breathing out. "Stand up! I don't want unnecessary commotion, what I want for you is to quit being a spy and instead be a loyal servant of the Crambell Family. "
The Job of a spy is very dangerous. It may leak information regardless of their own master, I will have to cut her wings for her to become my personal maid, at least that's what I want. If Anna continues being a spy, and someone takes her as a hostage, she'll have to spit out what she knows and her information will become valuable.
I hope she makes the right choice and that this is the only way for her to gain my trust once more. She betrayed me once, will she do that again? Like she never trusted me to do something, and I think this is for the better anyways.
I will let her think about that and maybe she'll know what to do.
We soon departed back and we continued our journey to the west-south. The long journey was nothing of ordinary, Anna didn't partake in the activities and she became quiet the whole journey. Other knights seem to be worried about her, and she has become distant from me since then.
We camped down for a day and today is the last night in this drenched forest. The capital is just ahead and we can finally breathe air. Eclise started the campfire and we initially sat down beside the fire, Sain stood beside me and Adrian was talking to one of the knights.
Suddenly, Eclise looked me in the eye and frowned. "Milady, is it fine to ask you a question? We would like to ask you a question. "
I do not know why but instead of refusing like I usually do, I ended up nodding and then I sneered. "I will answer your questions, so until I have the mood to do so just say what you want to say! " That said, they nodded and the 1st one to raise his hand was Dores.
"About your dream milady, what was your name? Is that your vision and do you have any siblings? " A rather uncertain question but fine! I will answer them even if their question is likely stupid, uncertain or useless perhaps.
But this one made me think twice before I nod. "Oh, I have a beautiful yet splendidly name that was given to me by my deceased mother, ( Mei Chen ) and Mei refers to [ Sweéter Belief ] while Chen refers to [ Heartless ] said by some old folk lore, although I have no siblings I didn't mind it at all. "
Mei is the only name that was given to me. I do not know our family name- or do we even have one. However, when I came to become a Shaman, Chen was name to me as it meant Heartless befitting my emotionless appearances of a cold maniac and a bloody murderer.
"How about your fiancé, my lady? "
I smile and chuckle. "Not as I remember, I was particularly uninterested in marriage nor I was even interested in how little love is. I rejected most marriage candidates because I believe that love is not something worthwhile. "
Astonishment suddenly arose from their reaction and the more they ask, the more I might shut them off rigid from the rights I have. Although, they don't seem to think that I'm particularly stating ( I ) to ( her ) or just the basic ( she ) that I refer to as ( me ).
"Who are you in the military? " A foolish question indeed. I have told them before that Mei joined the military and she took part in battles worth thousands of lives but never did I tell them that she is actually commanding thousands of them to die.
"I am a special spearhead, commanding thousands of men in the battlefield, I am the empire's general ( a commander ) of thousand battalions of the cold blooded sinners." The difference between warriors or samurai and knights as much as these people is the fact that we are vulgar barbarics that enjoy the trinity of pointing to chaos.
Barbarics as they said but that's true, we berserk and destroy which is why we are a vulgar plot of barbarians. That is the spearhead, people of sinner which was accepted as a special battalion that partook in many victories of the empire's success.
Although, I commanded men ready to die and ready to kill. I also command warriors at heart- not knights but brave warriors, soldiers and men of principles and victory.
They seem lost of what I said. "Sinners? You mean criminals? " Eclise ask.
"No, " I then shrugged my head. "Barbaric soldiers, vulgar barbarians and filthy brain dead beasts. "
Few seconds of silence was broken with another question. "My lady, this is the last question, why do they allow women to participate in a war? Aren't women too weak to even wield a single handed wooden sword? " Ah, the discrimination of this people.
"Her world is different, unlike how stupid you think, they do not think the same way as you do. Men and women is particularly equal in many terms, size doesn't matter nor height, you won't notice the difference between men and women, even if you keep discriminating them! " I breathed out and stood up.
"We are basically equal no matter what, both women and men can lift planks, or cut wood. Even if the cause is little, women can fight as much as men do, sometimes women are better than men fighting in the frontlines."
They all fell silent. Leaving them confused and uncertain for words that don't make sense gives them a light realization of something unexpected.
