Chapter 2 MARCUS & ONYX

Onyx went back in tears to the cave. She cried her heart out. As a matter of fact she knew Marcus had lied to her but the fact that he had lied tormented her. He didn't want her, he certainly didn't need her. He wore that ring so she would stay away from him. She fell to the ground and resumed another bout of tears. She will return home, a broken heart. There's nothing left on Earth for her no more. Maybe not today, not tomorrow but she must go home.
Beryl was beside Daniel in Marcus's home as Marcus explained to them what had happened the night before.
"I couldn't believe it, I thought it was a dream." Marcus said after explaining to them.
"Yeah, I bet so. But she's really stupid. I bet she's even eavesdropping on our conversation right this minute. I thought she wanted to be a queen of the underwaters." Beryl said sarcastically, demonstrating.
"That's harsh, Beryl. You have only got to understand her predicament." Daniel, her husband, put in.
"What predicament? Onyx is way too selfish. She never told anybody that she would return, including me, her best friend!" She exclaimed hauntingly.
"You should be understanding." Daniel insisted.
"Oh Dan, please don't side with her. It's annoying." Beryl said.
Daniel ignored her. "We should look for her, I believe she hasn't return to the sea." He assured his friend, Marcus, patting his back.
"And how can you be so sure?" Beryl asked him.
"I'm sure, Beryl. Stop being so paranoid." Daniel said.
Marcus stood up, ignoring both husband and wife as he walked closely to the window. He was still as dashing as ever, his black hair was curled backwards. His skin was tanned. He wore a black Polo Ralph's which exposed his broad features.
His black jeans trousers were kindda baggy. He stared intently at the sea and said, "I miss her."
"We do know that, buddy." Daniel joined his friend by the window.
Beryl watched them, in as much as she hated Onyx for what she had done to them, she couldn't watch Marcus in pain, he was deeply in love with her. And she loved Onyx still.
Their friendship went way back to their indigenous high school.
"Do you have any idea where she might be right now?" Beryl wanted to be of help.
"Hell no, I wish I did. That's the first place I would have gone to." Marcus replied her.
"Even if she's at sea?" Daniel queried.
Marcus shot his friend a side look.
"I'm sorry. I clearly wasn't thinking." Daniel quickly apologized.
Beryl suddenly clapped her hands in excitement. "Marcus, I think I know where she is." She cried out.
Both men turned to give her a surprise look.
"Follow me." She stood up gracefully.
"Where are you taking us to?" Daniel asked.
"Remember Jasper?" Beryl put in.
Daniel hated the mention of that name. He remembered him certainly. He was reminded of how deeply he fought genuinely for Beryl's love. Jasper was Onyx's comrade and also Daniel's rival over Beryl.
"Jasper who?" Marcus seemed a little lost.
"Don't be like that, Dan. We're going to his cave." Beryl scoffed.
"What does his cave have to do with Onyx?" Daniel asked.
"I believe Onyx might be there. So, don't you wanna check that out first?"
Daniel stood at the entrance for a minute entranced by the magnificence of such a cave. The interior was filled with objects from the sea, name them.
Pearls, sea shells, diamonds, it was like a mine. "Mehn, we're rich!"
"I bet we are," Beryl smiled at him. "But we aren't here for that." She reminded him.
"I don't see her here." Marcus muttered absentmindedly. His friends turned to look at him. "She's gone, I guess."
"I believe she isn't, Marcus." Beryl assured him.
"But I don't see her here. Can you?"
Just then, a mild wild blew into the cave which blew up skirts and shirts. The three friends turned sharply to the door, they felt it!
Her presence. Onyx walked in, her hair damped from water. Her hair was also covering her face. Her dress was covered in dirts. Marcus couldn't contain his enthusiasm. "Onyx," he called for all to hear.
"Marcus?" She parted her hair to see who was calling her though she could recognize the voice. Recognising him, she ran straight into his arms and they both embraced.
"I'm so sorry Onyx. I lied, I shouldn't have done that." He kissed her hair as he was way taller than her.
He could hear her cry, shivering in his arms. That, he had to cup her face. "I'm the one who's sorry Marcus. I've done too many things that hurt you and I'm so sorry." Onyx apologized.
He hugged her again."I'm glad you came back."
"I never left Marcus. I never left to the sea yet."
"Oh great! She didn't even notice her best friend, nor her husband. She came in here like the goddess that she was and embraced her one and only," Beryl rolled her eyes playfully, thinking.
"You should be happy." Daniel whispered to his wife's ears.
"I am happy. But we're the invicible." She faked a dry laugh. "Hey guys, show's over. Cut this scene, I'm not impressed. We should start over!" She shouted.
Onyx laughed, walked over to her best friend. "I miss you, Beryl."
"I miss you too, darling." Beryl smiled.
"And I'm here to stay!!" Onyx yelled to the wind.
"Really?" Beryl asked.
"Yes." Onyx answered.
"What about your duties as a princess?"
"My mother would take care of all that now."
"At least you're back for me." Beryl laughed turning to look into her husband's weird's face.
"Yes, I'm finally back to where I belong."
"I'm glad to hear that, Onyx. Welcome back." Daniel smiled at her.
"Daniel, it's good to see you." Onyx said to Dan.
And in no time, Marcus married Onyx. It was obvious that he was deeply in love with her. They said their vows, kissed at the wedding. Soon, they moved into their new apartment. Marcus partly knew Onyx might return to him again, so he had everything settled.
