Chapter 31 RED!

Chrysolite kept mostly to herself, like an antisocial. It still was a shock to her that she was the daughter of a sea Queen. Her weird behavior disturbed her friends especially Sardius who was deeply concerned. Jasmine only used that to her advantage taunting Sardius. While they ate at recess at the cafeteria, Chrysolite excused herself to go to the swimming hall. Her grandmother's words kept on replaying like a tape in her head. She couldn't get it over with.
She stood before the pool brushing away the tears that stung her eyes. Her very being disgusted her, she hated herself. How was she to be a mermaid and live among humans?
Sardius!
He knew about this. If not why would he suddenly become protective of her? Why would he care so much about her? How did he conceal such a secret from her? Why did he conceal such a secret from her? Was he not her friend? Was he not becoming this close to her all because she was a strange being? Flashes from the scene of how Sardius had hidden her in the locker room caught her off-guard. She didn't even recall such a scene until now. Why was she in his arms that very day? And the necklace!
She looked down at her neck, it wasn't there anymore cause she hated it. She struggled not to burst out in tears brushing back every tear that dropped from her eyes. She wanted to see that very self of hers whom her granny had said was quite a powerful being even more than her mother's. She heard the spooky splattering footsteps of someone entering the hall. She knew who that person was without turning around to take a peek.
Mary tutted, whistled, and snapped her fingers. "Seems like you're your father's daughter after all." She snarled.
Chrysolite shut her eyes trying to drown out all her pains and words of yesterday. She wouldn't deal with Mary. She would only ignore her, to her, Mary was just a nobody who was only jealous of her.
"Your father confessed to the media that he was a lover of the waters, as he put it," Mary laughed, "I believe your father and Sardius's father were swimmers back in high school."
Chrysolite turned around to look at her. She was standing close to the edge of the swimming pool, Mary had edged closer towards her. Chrysolite narrowed her brows watching Mary talk. "You must have studied the biography of my dad." Chrysolite felt slightly impressed.
"Who wouldn't know the great Marcus? The famous designer and also a director of MAS oil!" Mary's voice trailed off in an echo.
"Why are you here Mary? I do not want any trouble, I want to be alone. Please just leave me to my peace." Chrysolite begged. As much as she hated herself, she was afraid something sinister might happen. So, she must warn Mary to stay away.
Mary pushed her back with a finger. "Or you do what? Huh?" She grinned mischievously then tutted again. "I wonder why you always come here, most times alone. I thought Sardius could be the reason why you came here."
Chrysolite sighed calmly. She knew she was bound to change if Mary piqued her to the core and she wasn't ready for any of this.
"You've grown too pretty for both of your male friends to want you. All hail your father for having great genes..." Mary went on.
"What do you mean?" Chrysolite asked getting irritated. Her face had a dirty scowl.
"You know exactly what I mean! Your father is a dirty old man. He thinks he can have whatever he wants whenever it pleases him, just cause he's a public figure‽"
Chrysolite scoffed looking over Mary's shoulder.
"I wouldn't be surprised if he sleeps with all the women in town but with his very own runway model, that's quite epic?" Mary's brows took a twitch.
"What did you say?" Streaks of red flashed through Chrysolite's hair.
Mary laughed, she didn't see Chrysolite's hair. She moved closer to hit Chrysolite's shoulder again. "Want to hear it again? Your dad is a cheat who doesn't know how to keep his sexual urges in check."
"I wouldn't be surprised if your parents abide by the rules you set." Chrysolite's hair glowed.
"How dare.....," Mary's hand reached out to slap Chrysolite but her hand was caught in mid-air, that was exactly when Mary noticed Chrysolite's hair for the first time.
"What the hell!" Mary's eyes nearly bulged out from their sockets. She also also that Chrysolite's eyes had changed colour.
"Do you think you can do what you please to me?" Chrysolite asked yanking Mary's hand sharply.
*******
Jasmine followed Michael unbeknownst to him. She knew that he badly wanted to see Chrysolite, he only wanted her all to himself. That selfish part of him what was Jasmine hated about Michael. But no matter how she looked at it, she still liked Michael despite his selfishness. As Michael walked into the swimming hall, he saw the sight. Chrysolite's hair was glowing like a bonfire, in her grip was a fearful Mary. Chrysolite's eyes! Something was wrong. This was the explicit image he had seen by the water fountain. He had thought she had added some dye to her hair but he was wrong.
Jasmine entered the swimming hall too but she stood not too far away from the pool and she was dazed by what she saw.
Chrysolite didn't see her friends, she was burning up in her heated rage. She yanked back Mary's hand and threw her a slap with her other hand. Mary gasped. What was happening to Chrysolite? She had never seen anything like this before....the hair, the eyes, the surge of power that almost seemed to break the bone of her hand.
With her eyes, Chrysolite was pulling Mary up and Mary began to rise. "Wh....at...? Chry...so...what are ....you ....doing....t..o...me. p...le..please put me down!" Mary cried almost breathlessly as she rose higher and higher towards the ceiling.
Chrysolite's uniform was fading away, almost as if it was disappearing into her skin while a vest like a camisole replaced her uniform. Scales started taking form on her waistline down to her sides.
"What on Earth?" Jasmine covered her mouth with both hands, trying not to shout.
She knew there was something odd about Chrysolite. She had always known from that moment she had seen Chrysolite and Sardius in the locker room.
Michael who was seen edging closer to Chrysolite was suddenly moving backwards in fear. His legs felt like jelly, he couldn't run. He noticed Jasmine was by his side, and he grabbed her hands in fear.
"Pl.....ease Chrysolite..... I'll...do anything! Please!" Mary's voice echoed.
